《My Lazy Days With A Fallen Angel》[Part 1] Chapter 7 - Rainy Days

“Ah… It’s raining.”
I mumbled nonchalantly. I was left alone to look after Lucy since she got sick. I don’t have to do much because she only has to rest. I acted as if it was like any other day. Except that Lucy was restricted because of her sickness, so most of my attention had to be on her. We only had some small talk. Most of the time it was silent when I let her rest.
When she was asleep, I let time pass by sitting by the window. I had a good time looking outside. It is never a bad thing whenever it rains. A little water doesn’t hurt. Although you might get sick if you stay out in the rain too long. I think no one in their right mind would go out of their way to just get soaked out there.
Do you know that little nursery rhyme for days like this? You would just wish the rain would just go away. There are days in the summers you wish it would rain just to deal with the heat. Other than that, I know people who just hate it when it rains.
I never understood why some people hated the rain. It’s just harmless water falling from the sky. Maybe it is a bit too sad for them. Rain isn’t an emotion like that to me. It doesn’t bring me a bad mood at all.
A rainy day is just like any other excuse to stay inside for me. There is so much I can do because I’m stuck indoors. I can read books or play some video games. Rainy days makes my life more convenient.
There’s plenty of sleep to catch up on days like these. Especially if you get sick. It’s convenient that Lucy got sick this time. Then again, we rarely go outside.
“Do you plan on getting that job?”
Lucy caught me by surprised since I was focused on the falling rain. She was sitting up in bed when she noticed that I was sitting by the window. It started as a drizzle but then the rain got harder. I shut the window before any rain got inside.
“Where did you hear about that?”
“Raphie told me about it.”
They probably talked about it when Raphie visits. Lucy was sick right after I met her sisters for the first time. Raphie comes in everyday. I didn’t expect Lucy to hear about it so soon.
“Yeah, I’m gonna have to take that job.”

“How will a shut in like you keep a job?”
I feel like Lucy only asked that question just to insult me.
“It’s only a part-time job I’ll be taking for the month. We need money for food since I’ll be spending it on an air conditioner. Raphie will complain if I don’t get one.”
“We don’t need one. I can handle a little heat.”
“You are doing great so far.”
“Whatever. Forget about Raphie. You need to spend that money on something that’s actually useful. Like some new books for once.” She said as she pointed to my bookshelf.
“Aren’t there better things you could ask for? Like a TV or your own computer?”
“I don’t mind reading. Books have lasted longer than any of those things.”
Well, it’s not like television or video games have yet to stand the test of time. Those kinds of technologies have been evolving at an incredible rate. But I get her point. I haven’t got a new book in a while. Maybe I’ll visit the bookstore sometime this summer. Just a big maybe.
I looked away from Lucy and went back to watching the rain outside. The rain got heavier since this morning. Water flowing down the window made it hard to see through it. There were a few flashes of lighting following a delayed thunder.
“Do you hate the rain?” Lucy asked.
“That was a random question.”
“Not really. You are a complete downer with the way you look at the window.”
“A downer? What the… Well, It doesn’t really bother me.” I paused for a moment and directed a question to her. “How about you.” I asked her, “Do you hate the rain?”
“I don’t. Days like these are a great excuse to stay in doors. I can limit my plans to just stay inside and just rest.”
Lucy responded as soon as I asked her. I’m starting to think she initially asked this question because she wanted to express her opinion rather than hearing mine. That is a bit self centered…
“What if you need to go out?” I asked while rolling my eyes.
“That’s what I got you for.”
“I’m not your servant.”
“I am the one who saved you. Know your place David.”
“Fine… It really doesn’t matter who saved me. I got to meet you guys anyways. It was nice seeing your sister.”
“Watch it David, don’t you ever think of her like that.”

“Like what?”
“You’re not only a pathetic human, but a disgusting pig. If you ever think of my sister like-”
“Woah, hold it right there. I’m not thinking like that at all! I genuinely think she’s a great person.”
“Don’t think you can just be friendly with her so easily.”
She crossed her arms and looked at me suspiciously.
“I told you, it’s not like that. It’s just nice to finally meet her for once. I always thought that Raphie as a normal human neighbor until recently.”
“So you knew my sister before?”
“No, not really.” I avoided eye contact and scratched my head as I thought to myself. “I never really met her. She was just somebody from across the hall. I thought nothing of it until I found out that she was an angel. Why is she living here anyways?”
“Go ask her yourself.”
“Don’t you know?”
“No… It’s not like we tell each other everything.”
“When was the last time you talked with her?”
“Before I ‘moved’ in here. We rarely talk. Raphie likes to keep her distance.”
“Why is that?”
“Because of who I am. She’s sensitive about that kind of thing. So everything is okay.”
I wouldn’t call that okay. In the end, it sounds like an excuse to me.
“So you get along with your sister?”
“Yeah. If I wasn’t, then I wouldn’t be near her at all.”
They don’t talk often but they’re close? That sounds fishy to me.
“Why are you here anyways?” I asked.
“Why do I have to tell you that?”
“You’re living here now. I have the right to know.”
“No you don’t. If you want to know anything, then I want something in return.”
“I guess that’s fair…”
Not.
“Tell me about yourself first.”
“I go to a school nearby here.”
“That’s no good. There has to be more to this story. I want to know more about why you moved here.”
“I don’t know what to say. It’s a cheap apartment. I knew no one else in the building but that wasn’t a problem. I didn’t stay here much back then since I lived with my girlfriend at the time.”
“Huh? A pathetic human like you had something like that?”
You make me cry you know that…
I don’t need some rejected angel like you to rub salt in the wound.
Trying to hold back my tears I got up and walked for the door.
“Wait! Aren’t you going to listen to what I have to say?”
I guess it won’t hurt to listen to the self centered devil.
I sighed then sat down next to the bed. Even though Lucy was the one who begged me to come back, she was more excited when she was the one speaking. She makes everything about herself such a big deal.
“I have two other sisters. One whom I don’t talk with much. The other, loves to travel around the world. I like to go around but not as much as her. I met up with her a while back and we wanted to settle down for a while. So we decided to join Raphie since she was studying.”
“Studying?”
“Yeah, she goes to some university nearby. I don’t remember the name.”
Please don’t tell me she goes to my university…
“So anyways.” Lucy continued. “We thought it got crowded. You know, three people in a single apartment-”
“Three? Where’s the third one?”
“She goes by the name Jibril now. It’s been awhile since she went out to travel again. She’ll show up eventually.”
How reliable…
“So Raphie made you stay here.”
“Well, she did not make me.” Lucy nervously laughed. “Living here made it even. It’s more convenient for them.”
“So it was all your idea.”
“Yeah, it was.” Lucy got irritated suddenly. “Now let me sleep.” She then turned away from me and hid under her blanket.
I don’t think I said anything to annoy her like that. There wasn’t much talking from me when she was speaking anyways.
It was probably for the best for her to rest as much as she could. There was no complaint for the rest of the day. I was fine with that. We exhausted all the topics I could think of.
I went back to staring at the window. There were no signs of the weather calming down. The rain was pounding at the glass. Little water droplets made it hard to see through the window.
Trying to look outside only brought me down. Talking about the past did not help either. Why was I even fond of the rain in the first place? Now that I think about it, there was a time when I used to hate the rain.

This reborn personal trainer is going to whip the royal army into shape!
Olympics Sports Trainer, Meg Thompson, had never even heard of an otome game, so when she died in Japan during the Tokyo Games and was reincarnated into one in error as the minor character, Briar Bell, she might have unintentionally messed just about everything up for the true heroine...Whether it was her befriending villainesses, or hanging out with capture targets, from the moment she was born she was setting the plot careening off course. (although if you ask her, the original storyline was stupid and hopeless to begin with #SorryNotSorry)The Heroine was supposed to seduce this medieval-esque kingdom's most eligible bachelors in order to use the power of their love to stop the encroaching demon army from destroying humanity with her heart magic. Playing the role of 'heroine' was another reincarnated woman named Sakura, a hardcore Japanese otaku who had previously been hit by a truck in a tale as old as time.Whether it is the fault of Sakura's social ineptness (as Briar would claim) or from her own interventions, humanity is now heading towards total decimation. Seems like she'll have to brush off her coaching skills and get this royal army into fighting form.
