《DARK EDEN: The Death God's Origin》Update 1: Prologue
Advertisement
When children are young, they often dream of becoming someone important.
They dream of saving the world, of obtaining superpowers, and even of becoming an evil villain.
They dream of the extraordinary, the impossible, and of the perfect world.
Yet, these dreams are often lost throughout time.
As the child matures into an adult, he/she begins to realize that the world isn’t such a beautiful place.
The talented, the brillant.
The intelligent, and the powerful.
The rich, the privileged, the beloved, and the special.
These are the only children loved by God.
The rest of them, those that fit in none of the categories, are cast aside and treated like human waste.
Such is the reality.
The world in the 31st century, is an eternal paradise to some, and endless nightmare to others.
To the West rule the owls of intellectual superiority, the Intellantians.
To the North rule the oxs of capitalism and wealth, the Megapolitians.
To the East rule the lions of power and prestige, the Parabellums.
And...the remaining people, those abandoned by the world and God himself, are caged in the South, on a deserted wasteland named Inanis.
Inanis, the lifeless and ruined home of the insignificant.
Citizens of Inanis are born into neglect.
No matter how talented an individual is, the birthplace and status are the only things that matter.
A hollow place that is hostile to dreams and deprived of hope, its citizens struggle to survive.
In Inanis, there are those that have resigned to fate, surrendering to the path that the heavens laid out.
There are also others that refused to yield.
While most of those so-called revolutionaries eventually gave up their dreams and settled back into their ordinary lives, some of them continued to work toward their goal.
That is, to change the system of the world.

For years, no progress was made.
Evidently, none of them could obtain the power, the wealth, nor prestige required.
But, on a single day in 3072, everything changed. The world had produced its first Virtual Reality machine.
The Virtual Reality machine was designed to alter the physical senses through direct signals sent to the human brain. By doing that, it was able to produce a realistic replication of the real world.
People are now able to experience their favorite fantasy settings as if they are actually a part of that dimension.
Extremely popular both as a form of entertainment and for other purposes such as army battlefield simulation training, it spread across the globe like wildfire.
Soon enough, it reached the ears of the revolutionary troops in Inanis.
For the next 5 years, they studied and experimented with the product, preparing for that fateful day in 3077.
The day that the world ended and a new one was born.
If it was not possible to change something from the inside, then perhaps the only option left would be to change it from the outside.
Remember the story of God’s creation of the world in 7 days?
What if the world already existed way before that?
What if “God” merely altered the world in not 7 days, but 7 hours?
That was exactly how long it took to hijack the main control system of the Virtual Reality machine.
It was exactly how long it took to change the functions of the system to not only apply to the individual’s senses, but to directly reshape the physics and chemistry of the world.
Finally, it was exactly how long it took to broadcast to the world, across every television channel and portable device, across every reflective surface and the Heavens itself.
On the 7th hour of the 7th day in the 7th month of 3077, the old world died and the era of Dark Eden began.

The Hunt
Cecily's blade swung, hitting its mark as always. The man's arm fell to the cold grass of the prison with a familiar thud. He let out a blood curdling scream. A warning to the rest. Stay away, the Hunter is here. That's the name they'd given her, the Hunter. After she cut off the man who tried to rape hers masculinity, they stayed away. She'd made it clear anyone who tried to touch her would be hunted and slaughtered. Cecily kneeled down, pushing the man's face into the dirt so she could use his back as a seat while she trifled through his belongings. "You're hurting my ears," she told him, no remorse in her voice. "Quiet down before I really do kill you."The man but his lip, well aware that she wasn't lying. Sobs shook him, making for an uncomfortable seat. She, however, didn't particularly feel the beed to kill him. It happened, not often, but it did. "Oh, hush up," she hissed, taking out a bag of rations with her metal hand, "it doesn't hurt that bad."With her good, human hand, she dropped the plastic bag of food into her own bag. She pushed up, off the man back. As she was about to walk away, bag slung over her shoulder, brushing against her autumn colored braid, she turned back to him. "Consider yourself lucky," she said, no hatred in her voice, there never was. "Consider yourself lucky that you didn't do anything stupid. And even luckier if one of the scum bagged criminals in here feel a little light in their hearts and help you. Consider yourself luckier if you die there."With that, her old black and white Nike sneakers carried her off into the brush of the huge prison.
