《The Huntress and the Demon》Chapter 21: Naming ceremony

Chief elder Daren stood on an elevated stage in the middle of the central square. A mantle of brown fur hung from his shoulders and his left hand held a bone staff. The multitude of accessories made from claws and teeth tinkled every time he moved.
On either side of him sat Harald and Cane, also dressed up for the occasion. Harald wore a cloak of pitch black fur with silvery tiger stripes, while Cane had donned a grey-brown scale armour and a head ornament with four horns on top.
Nearly the whole village had gathered around the platform, watching as Arick made his way towards the chief elder.
Arick himself did his best not to let his nervousness show. It wasn't everyday that so many people stared at him at once. In fact, this was only the third time, the first being when he graduation from the military academy, the second when he was appointed leader of his own winged squad.
Jyl, as the one responsible for teaching him, walked beside him, but only until they reached the platform. With an amused expression she pushed Arick forwards and upwards.
"Go on", she wispered, "They won't bite."
After having glared at her for enjoying the situation, he ascended the stairs. Only to find Harald smirking at him as well. Really, like grandfather like granddaughter. Luckily, Daren seemed to be taking the whole thing more seriously. As he approached, the elder spread his arms and spoke:
"Today a new hunter joins the ranks, having passed the test he was faced with, having killed a beast alone!"
Cheers erupted from the crowd, startling Arick with their intensity. He had realized this before, but the villagers were pretty excitable, they grabbed every opportunity to be merry and enjoy themselves.
"And so," Daren continued once it was silent again, "as is the tradition, he shall be known by the beast's name."

Cane handed the chief elder a cloak made of brown feathers, its back decorated with seven familiar silver-coloured ones. Daren then laid it on Arick's shoulder, giving him an encouraging smile at the same time.
"Arick, the silver-crowned falcon!"
He cringed, both because of embarrassment from the bird's name and the volume with which the crowd expressed their approval, earning him a chuckle from Daren.
"Now, to celebrate!" the elder shouted. The villagers in response raised their voices even higher, something Arick hadn't deemed possible.
The elders dragged him off the stage and towards the main table, where food was already served and ready to be eaten.
As they pulled him along, Arick noticed that Jyl was nowhere to be seen. Knowing her, she had sneaked out during the excitement. He wonder where she went during these occasions.
Before he could let his thoughts drift off, Daren pushed him into the chair at the head of the table, while Harald shoved a large chunk of meat onto his plate.
He frowned at the size of it. "I hope you do not expect me to finish that."
"Of course", scoffed Harald.
"According to tradition, the hunter gets the best parts of their own kill", Daren added smilingly.
"Though tradition says nothing about sharing it", Alcaeus' voice sounded out.
Turning his head, Arick saw a group of people approaching, all of whom he knew. Alcaeus walked in front, followed by Aiden, Mirus, Cecile and Lyall, with Solon, Evelyn and Rina in the back.
"Well then, we'll leave the youngsters be", Daren excused himself, taking Harald with him into the crowd.
"Congratulations on a succesful First Hunt", said Lyall.
"Yeah, congratulations, silver-crowned falcon", Cecile teased him.

Heart of the World (LitRPG)
This is the story of how I stabbed a bear. Well... technically speaking, that became the moment my life went into a vastly different direction, all on my way to 'The Mission'. The one I had been given alongside two other seasoned players. To help people in a world with a world. But, oh hoh, that bear... Don't get me started on that. So, apart from that, here is the gist of the other part. I'm a year long employee. Though, several years before I became an employee of theirs, this crazy ensuing madness of a Full Dive battle royale between even more companies started to boil over to a breaking point. Mine thought to search for something that would truly blow the competition out of the water. Well, they found it. Deep under the sea actually. They called it a game changer. Rumors abounded of course. But the most common knowledge became that it was a power source unlike the world had ever seen. However, I can tell you now, the unknown sometimes bump back. Especially when experimenting on highly unknown elements. Still, years safely went by and thus I became a developer there. Now, what does any of this got to do with stabbing a bear? Well, ask them that! They started it all. I'm new remember! Though, chaos ensued, and well, I was there. It probably helped that I had proven myself a good fighter in game and that I had some knowledge that could help with the triplets. Oh, but my sister would box my ears if she ever realized how little time I spent learning what the other developers created in the game before I had to go in there on, 'The Mission.' So, this is a story of a mission to save the people in Realm of Ancients. Not those rookies! Oh no, that was just a precurser. AND THERE WAS THE BEAR! Sorry, I had trouble getting over it. But that specific moment changed things. -- -- Hi! This is a project I have started for the fun. This is not your typical comedy. Yes, I added quite a bit humour to the story, BUT as things go into the eye of the storm the character will face challenges that hits him down. So it is not comedy in every chapter. But what do they say, when you've hit bottom, only way to go is up! :D I am always open to suggestions that might take the story to new heights, so you all are welcome to discuss the story in the comments. Just remember the all important SPOILER tags. ;) -Omri - I'd truly appreciate if you rate the story and leave reviews as we go. ;)

The Fall of The Gods
Synopsis: In the year 1966, an army of Orishas led by Sango stormed Amadioha’s palace and razed it the ground, starting a decades-long war between two of Nigeria’s most powerful divine orders. Blinded by the rage of battle, the gods did not detect the rise of a third power, far greater and deadlier than anything they could have imagined. When gods, on both the Yoruba and Igbo sides, begin falling mysteriously to their death, Sango seeks the help of Odion, a Lagos teenager destined to rise from his dark past to become a hero. But can a human hero save the gods from a doomed fate? The Fall of the Gods is an action-packed YA fantasy based on the mythical bond that ties human life with the realm of the divine. It demonstrates the power of stories to change our lives. It also reminds us that Sango and Amadioha are not relics of the past and that, sometimes, what it means to be a hero in today’s world is knowing how to find inspiration in the stories of the gods. PLEASE NOTE: Weekly chapters will be released every friday along with interludes once in a while about Nigerian mythology. I'm a young 17 year old writer and I am new to the site so I will appreciate your comments and reviews. Thank you very much.
