On the drive back home, Jimmy asked Tom.

"So, a voodoo doll?"

He let out a tiny laugh.

"Turn them into frogs?"

Jimmy gave him a quick look with a smile and then back to the road.

"How did you do all that stuff?"

Tom opened his mouth to say something, but stopped there. About a minute later he finely had answer.

"Let me put it this way. You see a guy in a car, so you throw him out and go for a joy-ride. Then stop and look under the hood. You may not know what all the wires and tubes are for, but it's easy to break it with a hammer."

Jimmy thought about that and wonder out loud.

"I guess wizards all have their own way of learning magic."

laughing as Tom recalled a memory.

"That asshole. I get it now."

He said this last part in a low mocking tone.

"All in do time."

When they got home, June's mom made a late dinner for them. As everyone was eating, Tom peered into the light of a candle on the table. Out of curiosity he tried to put mana in it by hovering his hand near it. The flame changed its shape to a three dimensional symbol and he could feel it draining him a little. He thought this symbol could mean multiple different things. There was a "Tom!" from June's mom and he jolted out of his trance to see everyone was looking at him.

"No magic at the table, now eat your food."

As she said this, Tom could feel a talon foot let go of his leg from under the table. He got back to eating his food with a yes ma'am and avoided eye contact with June who was across from him. When he was cleaning his plate in the sink and he did magic thing again to the water. June poked him in the side and asked him.

"Hey, you are going to make a spell book?"

Tom was dumfounded by this question.

"Why didn't I think of that? Yes, I am and at some point I would have to get a nice one. If you have a note book, I'll use that for now.

She seemed cheerful with this request as she set off to find something he could use. They both went round the house trying to find new magic symbol, but only got the one's for dirt or maybe earth. It was all most one o'clock after midnight when Tom started to feel the mana drain. He all most passed out from exhaustion as June helped him up the stairs and she put him in the bed to sleep.
