《The Abyssal Sanctum》Prologue

Iron beard raged across the battlefield and slaughtered his enemy long after his brothers in arms lay dead and rotting behind him. He trusted in his blade as he sliced clean through the armored elf standing before him. His arm swung out pulverizing the skull of another soft skin coming up behind him. Iron beard found the elves insultingly weak, cursing these wretched locusts for felling his brothers. He churned mana in his body before slamming his fist into the ground causing the ground to come alive and stone spikes to burst out of the ground targeting the elven swarm. As the spikes retracted back into the earth dozens of the blond haired bimbos fell to the ground around him. Iron beard heard a voice call out from an elf with embroidered mithril armor walking out of a throng of its soldiers. “You don’t have to die, you know. Lay down that weapon of yours and let us through. You can’t fight this war forever,” said with a smirk and a sing-song voice.

“I’m gonna kill all ye damned soft skins. Ye don’t stand a chance ye swords wouldn't even cut butter let alone me flesh or armor,” Iron beard spat.

“While it may be true that we elves aren’t known for our weapons, don’t you think that was a little unfair. Our blades cut through your comrades easily enough. Besides we both know the only thing keeping you going is that pointy little thing you’re holding,” the elf said with a wide grin. With that Iron beard leapt forward smashing his fist against the soft skin’s mythril shell launching it backwards. The elf landed on his feet and wheezed before unsheathing his own blade. A rapier embroidered with runes and gems. “You’re not the only one with a mythical blade you know,” the elf scoffed, as the runes along the blade began to glow.

Iron beard spat, “That’s not even an elven blade. Ya had to steal that from the dwarves just like every other nice thing ye damned soft skins get.”

The elf scowled and then rushed forward his blade allowing him to move far faster than the eye could see. Iron beard gritted his teeth and sidestepped the blade and gave the elf another punch to the ribs. The elf slid backwards and then swept forward with his blade. Iron beard swung his blade forward slicing clean through the rapier and the elf wielding it. With that his blade caught alight with unholy flames and he turned toward the rest of the elves standing before him.

He charged forward crashing through the front line, his sword leaving death and corruption in its wake. The dead rising as demons inhabited their bodies and joined the fray. Hours of blood soaked carnage continued as Iron beard led his violent crusade through the elven army. The slaughter lasted another day and a half before all that remained was a blood soaked bog of mud and viscera.

Iron beard fell to the ground exhaustion starting to take hold from the many wounds littering his body. He gritted his teeth as life began to ebb from his body. His heart beat and blood was pushed out of his body. Iron beard lay his sword on the ground and began corralling the last vestiges of his mana. “Old friend do not worry it’s my time to go. And I think it may be yours as well,” the old dwarf said before a cough raked his body, specks of blood speckling his gray beard. “May you never have another master.” With that he took one last look at his greatest creation before allowing his mana to flow into the earth causing the earth to become almost liquid, swallowing the sword into the earth's warm depths.
