《Am I the Evildoer?》Chapter 1 - Best Victim Yet

It was an ominous evening, the glory of the moon hid behind the clouds, and all the hounds growled, seemingly warning of the evil about to come.
Deep within the Qinxia Kingdom, the daughter of a noble family got backed up in the corner of her room. Before this, she was just on holiday with her cousins when a gruff looking man forced himself into her room. She helplessly rang the bell by her bedside, but there was no sound to be heard.
''Someone, help!" She cried but received no response other than the man's wild laughter.
"There's no use crying out, little beauty," he laughed. His yellowed teeth had a demonic glow under the weak illumination of the candlelight; she slowly backed up to a corner as the man reached out to grab her. As soon as his hand reached her, the girl' terrified expression turned to one of cold ruthlessness. She quickly grabbed his wrist, twisting it behind his back as she grabbed his dagger from his waist. The man beneath her was enraged; he couldn't accept getting defeated by a girl less than half his size.
"Do you know what this kneeling position is good for," she asked sweetly. She then plunged the knife into the man's nether region, twisting it a few times. Gruesome screams erupted from the man's mouth as his eyes widened in shock and pain; Qin Yao slowly retrieved the knife and proceeded to slit the man's throat. These actions came naturally to her; it was as if she had done it many times before; no, she did do this before. A look of uncertainty appeared in her eyes as it seemed as though she was battling two conflicting personalities. She muttered strange words, words unknown to the people who raised her as she shivered uncontrollably. Qin Yao couldn't help but groan; the gruesome scene in front of her overlapped with the ones from her past life; after all, it has been thirteen years since her last murder.

As soon as she regained her calm, Qin Yao couldn't help but marvel at that red-haired man's abilities. She didn't know how he managed to reincarnate her so simply or how he sealed her memories for so many years. Even though Qin Yao was unfamiliar with reincarnation before, it didn't stop her from appreciating how powerful the red-haired man was to achieve this. It wasn't hard for her to understand that if people could control this power so readily, the entire world, or more aptly worlds, would be in chaos.
Qin Yao got rid of these pointless thoughts; no matter how powerful he was or wasn't, it wouldn't help her get through her current dilemma. She quietly began to sift through her memories, aptly recalling her and her family's situation and how she should proceed to become stronger as fast as possible. To her disappointment, Qin Yao found out that she was just an inconsequential illegitimate daughter of a cultivation family. She only found one way to describe her situation, pitiful; she was the youngest in her family, with no proper background or extraordinary talent. Qin Yao was - unsurprisingly - at the bottom of the pecking order. If she wasn't wrong, this intruder here was just her cousins' version of entertainment. Though they were in the wrong, Qin Yao wasn't one to harp about justice. Strictly speaking, she owed them a favour.
Qin Yao's face suddenly brightened up as Qin Yao recalled one of her favourite hobbies; she used to keep a patch of her victim's skin to make various toys; she looked at the corpse in front of her and knew exactly how to thank him. Though she wasn't entirely sure if it was the same toy, she usually kept a weird looking bunny by her side since she was a child. According to the rumours surrounding her, she was born whilst hugging this toy; her father has seen this toy as an ominous sign and was why he never deigned to talk to her, but from her late mother's words, she had received this doll from a kind stranger and somehow got attached to it. As for which was true or false, Qin Yao couldn't know; it was either from when she was a newborn or a toddler; she couldn't remember something from her infanthood. As for her father, between his dozens of wives and hundreds of children, why would he remember her? Qin Yao quickly looked through her luggage, and she found her creepy-looking doll; the parts made of human skin had the same leathery feel, and there were pieces of cloth connecting the human skin. Qin Yao's smile grew brighter as she quietly walked to the man's side and cut off a small amount of his skin from his inner thigh.

"As thanks, how about being a part of the stomach?" Qin Yao felt that this was a reasonable award as the stomach was the best part of the toy, and he was her best victim yet.
Qin Yao quietly started her work whilst humming Happy Birthday to herself. It was her first day in a new world with all of her memories, it was a day of celebration, and a sacrifice walked himself into her room. Qin Yao was soon done and felt that it was time to leave. Her cousins would soon 'come to check up on her,' and it would be too hard to explain why she, someone who never started cultivation, was able to defeat a hired thug. She expertly cut the robes of the man's corpse, using the parts that didn't get stained with blood to make a make-shift robe for herself.
Qin Yao thought for a little before getting her new dagger and walking up to the corpse for the last time. She decided to leave a foreword for her thank you gift before departing for however long. Thank you for awakening me; Qin Yao carved onto the man's stomach, and she even remembered to add a little smile at the end of her message. Whether it was because of her lack of artistic talent, or the fact that the human body was not supposed to be an artistic medium, the smile appeared crooked. If she was being entirely honest, the smile appeared to strike feelings of fear rather than the gratitude she wanted to express. Qin Yao sighed at her terrible drawing and hoped they don't misinterpret her intentions; she wasn't interested in revenge, or at least not currently.
