《First Bite》8. Joyride

"What do you mean you haven't caught him?" Ali said with a argumentative tone from a holding cell, still dressed in her flannel pajamas from the night before they were still stained with blood, grass and mud.
"Miss Thornhill, we've found what remain of the car. It was burning a few miles away. He hasn't been caught yet but we have a photo out. From my experience he's going to be snagged soon." Officer Best said to her. "But the good news is you're almost done. You should also be aware that a good few people are calling in on your behalf. "
"We just to need wait for word from the captain on the kit that checked you for any traces of blood or skin that may have transferred from your fight then you'll be able to go, now that we got the camera footage from the house's security system along with your statement."
Officer Best added, his voice a bit nasally from the broken nose he had sustained.
It wasn't the punch from the suspect that used the fire as a distraction to get away that broke it, just the return trip to the station.
The two officers who brought Ali into the station from the scene of the fire stood across from the holding cell, both holding mugs of tea with trembling hands.
Their nerves, after getting back to the station were completely shot.
Both men were on the job as police officers for a few years and seen things that had hardened them but nothing could have prepared them for the drive back to the police station with the young woman who fought with the suspect at the crime scene.
Neither of them had a way to acutely describe the trip back in words but 'death trapped coaster' or 'horror show' would be the closest things they could say after vomiting several times.

-------------------
The ride back had started well enough with them tucking the young lady into the back seat of their vehicle, she was still agitated from the fight and the fact that the man she was in combat with had gotten away with it rubbed everyone in the car raw, but they still had to take her in for questioning.
Officer Best was upset over the suckerpunch he had received from the suspect but the woman in the back seat had left the escaping man bloody, battered and brused so that fact eased his darkened mood a little.
Then after a few minutes of leaving the area, right in the middle of her rant about the man, the young woman yawned deeply, then changing her body position to laying down sideways in the seat she rested herself, within moments she was asleep.
The moment she started snoring the car suddently shot forward like a bullet fired from a gun, both Officer Best and Harris screamed for dear life. Harris who was driving slammed on the breaks as they both were pushed back into their seats as the car accelerated, but it had no effect as the view of their surroundings whipped by them in a blur that was as amazing as it was terrifying.
The unnerving thrill ride continued at a blinding pace until they approached a particularly steep hill, Haris tried to pull the manual break to at least slow down the ascent but it once again had no effect. In seconds the car had both arrived at, reached the top of the hill and taken to the air, simply continuing forward despite it not being very aerodynamic or having wings.
Like a police car shaped wingless bird off a cliff.
For a brief moment everything in the car felt timeless, weightless, all things not secured floated into the air around them both. Harris even managed to find his house keys that he left in the car a few weeks before.

Then gravity and time once again took hold and like a sled going down hill with a rocket strapped to it the car slammed back onto the road leaving dark tire marks where it fell.
Harris took a moment to glance at his partner who seem to be all but glued into the car seat, the sound of him screaming was lost amongst the sound of screeching tires and scraping metal along with a fair bit of his own screaming.
"Ahhh......ahhhhhh .....oh lord......I promise I'll give up cheating on my girlfriend with her sister........I promise not to cheat on my wife with my girlfriend...I'll give up flour..Ahhhhh!!!!" Harris screamed louder after another hair raising turn.
The out of control car turned at strange angles, swung itself like a drunken sailor the night after shore leave and drifted along the road at some points barely hanging onto the small country roads.
Only to come to a sudden stop just outside the police station.
Officer Best shot forward into the deployed airbag face first on to the dashboard the impact felt like a heavy weight boxer hitting him full in the face breaking his nose and scrambling his brain for a good few minutes.
Officer Harris wasn't much better.
The other police officers realized something was amiss from the screaming outside, officer Best's voice had gone up several octaves and some of the people hearing him felt he could give a few sopranos a run for their money.
They both had to be coaxed out of the car, Harris had to remember how to work his bloodless fingers away from his death grip on the staring wheel and Best's fight with the vicious airbag left them both in a bloody mess.
All the while the young lady snored as she slept, untill someone woke her after finally realizing that she was sleeping in the back seat.
-------------------
Ali wasn't sure why both officers shuttered when they looked at her but she had a guess, she had woken up in the back seat of their car to the sound of both men throwing up on the sidewalk.
"That's a load off. I just want to get back to my farm and get my work done." Ali said as walking back and forth in the small room was starting to agitate her. She was never claustrophobic but the feeling of being trapped was starting to grow.
"I was a total git, should have just yelled and hid." Harris heard muttering from the cell but before he thought to say anything, his captain just gave him the nod to let her go.
The captain a man in his fifties, still relatively in shape but looking on the edge of getting a beer belly, greying hair and a sharp gaze looked at her as he walked over. Best had just let her out.
"You gents are.... injured, your shift is over, so on your way could you drop the lady......" the Captain's face suddenly gained a look shock and appal.
Halfway through his words both men again threw up on the floor.

The Trespasser
Synopsis Following his di—instincts, David finds himself in a weird situation; the next thing he knows, he's in a different world, dying, and manhandled by a big-ass alien. When the Source comes to his aid, granting him the access that—like every other sapient—he's due, David barely manages to get out of the fight with his life intact, but is that enough? Of course it isn't. The very Source giving him powers is also poisoning him to death. Oh, there she is, the petite female alien. Will that be enough to save him? Of course it won't. If he wants to be saved, he has first to save himself. The only way to do so is by getting to know the world around him, but even before that... Why the bloody hell did I have to be called Deviant!? *** Blurb? Blurb. The Trespasser starts slowly, I believe I've written a decent world, and I want you to find out what it's all about, won't just throw it in your face because of *levels*. I do not like stories that don't make sense. David is not a murderhobo, he respects life and answers to the world and the weird situations thrown at him with irony and sarcasm; so you are looking for easy killing streaks, you will not find them here. So, a man finds himself into the wild? It's a different world, and yet he can breathe its air? Finds himself in a lucky-low-level zone? Oh, look at that, people speak English—how likely is that? So, nope, not for me, gentleman. You won't find anything of the likes here. Again, a man finds himself in a new world but only thinks about the system? Yeah, that's not exactly how it works. David will try to find out what it's really all about, what the aliens want, how they work, why is that Fay really helping him? You can kill somebody to get levels, and yet there is not even a form of police? Not gonna happen here. Man becomes suddenly overpowered in a world where people can live for thousands of years by having enough luck to face only lower-level people? Hahaha—nope. Lastly...Spaceships and fantasy with LitRPG... say what!? Well, what's wrong with that? Let's make it happen, shall we? *** You want even more info? Really? Alright... David will start from the very bottom of the food chain, so there will be a settling arc—it's inevitable. David will find true companions, with personalities and backstories, and they will have a life of their own. There will be enemies, and those enemies will have a life of their own, too; there will be no evil just because. The world-building will have true depth; it will not exist just because the protagonist visits it. There will be both Fantasy and (Soft) Sci-fi—yeah, you heard that right. There will be rationality to every action taken, as long as the characters are aware of what is going on. There will be a godly system. You will come to read because of the world-building, but you will stay for the characters. The dead stay dead, and you will weep for them. There will be no action without a reaction. Lastly, there will be laughs. Are you still up for it? Then get in but fasten your seatbelts because it's going to be a wild ride. *** Release Days: Twice a week Release Time: ~09:00 PM UTC Words per chapter: ~3000 This web novel is also available on other platforms.
