PHASE 68 - PLEASE LET US FIGHT A NORMAL BOSS INSTEAD
The dark planet peeks in the stratosphere as the air five thousand kilometers above has turned into an ocean of flames. The friction of the falling underworld planet started to vibrate the surroundings, making a deafening roar that is similar to a long beat of a siren.
“I… It can’t be…” Jecchan looked at the skies with hopelessness. “We’ve done everything… We defeated Necross Hades… But why…”
“You idiots played on my palms once again,” Benedict said with a weak smirk on his face. As half of his body is crushed, his remaining lung wouldn’t permit him to do his evil laugh. “No matter what you do, Lord Necross will consume everything!”
Tears fell down from Jecchan’s eyes. She couldn't take it anymore. How many times should he see the horrific sight of that underworld planet? The emotional trauma she’s been through is enough to break her will.
“Jecchan, it’s not over yet!” I clenched my fists. I smiled with a determined gaze, trying to cheer up my best friend. “We still have something we can do!”
“B-But Tiara, that’s…” Jecchan held her pained chest. “...That’s impossible to destroy.”
“We won’t know until we try!” I cried back. “With determination, we refuse to give up!”
I held my heart and closed my eyes. Focusing on gathering the energy around, I focused my prana on my chest as I made a deep breath.
As I opened my eyes, I saw my ultimate transformation once again. With my active, my ten wings changed into different rainbow colors. A colorful lotus ornament was magically created at the back of my head, and my hands are now covered with pure white bridal gauntlets. My goddess robe’s flames became bright gold, and the floating scarf started to glow colorful lights.
A divine magical circle appeared on the ground where I’m standing which contains the sigil of a multi-colored lotus. Rainbow dust danced around my body as I felt limitless energy flowing inside my body.
The raging Necross Planet continues to surge. The range is about three thousand kilometers. It’s terribly close and I can feel the atmospheric pressure and the change of humidity in this dimension.

“Oh divine force of the planet, hear my call.”
I spread out my arms and slowly raised it upward while singing from the depths of my heart. A gigantic magical circle with the sigil of the lotus appeared right on top of me, which is also aimed at the colliding planet.
“I sing from the depths of my soul to aid me in protecting the earth.”
A second and third magical circle spawned, creating a layer of floating hologram amygdalas. Each of it aligned itself like a crosshair that targets the Necross Planet.
“!!!”
The moment I shouted out the spell, a gigantic rainbow-filled blaster emerged from the first magical circle. The second and third divine circle magnified and amplified the effects of the divine blast, resulting in a pillar of light that pierced the falling planet’s core!
Everything rumbled but it ended in an instant. The Necross Planet was pierced by the colorful beam of light. However, the Necross planet immediately regenerated.
“Gah” I cried as I exhaled the air from my lungs. I already gave tremendous energy to that attack. I’m pretty sure it can destroy a planet, but Necross keeps on regenerating!
“Hahaha! Useless! Useless!” Benedict booed me. “I told you before, Lord Necross can never be destroyed!”
“Tiara!” Jecchan cried as she pointed out her hand at me. “With the power of my , I command you, Tiara Hikari, to replenish all your energy!”
My body was coated with golden light, and all my strength that has lost returned in an instant. That’s the second that Jecchan used today. She only has one last Guardian Ability, and we better make it count.

Just as when despair is about to hit me too, somebody who always gave me hope entered the scene.
A white silver streak appeared, which was Rikkun on his Aether Armor. He’s carrying huge diamond ice on his right shoulder which contained the frozen Esperia. There’s also an ice sword stuck on the poor witch’s heart, which makes this a more horrifying sight.
“R-Rikkun!” I cried out loud.
“I’m sorry, Tiara. I’m late.” Rikkun said as he cybernetically removed the helmet of his armor. He dropped down the frozen Esperia beside the heavily-wounded Benedict.

“N-No…. Esperia!” Benedict roared. “What did you do to her!?”
“Relax, I just sealed her,” Rikkun said with a carefree tone. “I stabbed her with the divine powers of Vishnu’s barrier, Neptune’s ice, and Hel’s concept of death. Since she’s immortal, she will not die. But she won’t be able to live either. It’s like a Schrodinger’s Cat, but considering that this witch is such a bitch, I’d call it Schrodinger’s Bitch.”
“D-Damn you!!!” Benedict crawled with his one arm, but he was blocked by Jecchan’s sword.
“Alaric, stop taunting Benedict. We have a bigger problem right now.” Jecchan pointed up in the skies.
The Necross Planet slowed down its movement downward after I fired the spell. I guess I may have bought time but it’s not enough to stop it. The planet is still falling into our world.
“I know that already, that’s why I rushed here,” Rikkun said. “Anyway, I already thought of something that might defeat that wretched damn planet. Thanks to my genius mind, I can think of great ideas.”
“You mean you used the God Fragment of Athena to boost your intelligence again…” Jecchan cringed. “Fine, what’s the plan, mister smart nerd?”
“Necross Planet is indestructible since the has removed the concept of destruction on Necross. So we should give up on destroying it.” Rikkun carefreely said with a smile.
“D-Did you just contradict yourself!?” Jecchan roared. “Stop playing with us, we don’t have time to spare!”
“Hey, hey, I’m not finished yet. I said that it cannot be destroyed, but I said it can be defeated.” Rikkun said with a teasing smile on his face. “Only Tiara and Tiara alone could do this.”
“Rikkun…” I started passionately on my love. Right now, all I can see on him is the face of a real prince charming. Every time she trusts something to me, I feel like I’m in cloud nine~
"!!!” Rikkun pointed his hand at me, and then his armor shattered into floating ice shards. All those ice shards waltzed in midair until it reached to me and spun around like a whirlwind.
“I’ll assist you with my God Fragments,” Rikkun said. “Tiara, the only way to defeat Necross is to it. Since your only works on energy, we should convert that planet into one. Energy is equals mass times speed of light squared, that's the formula. Once matter has been converted into energy, you can now absorb it.”
I cocked my head even though I don't get it. I don’t know how this will work out, but even if he explains it, I don’t think I’ll be able to understand. I’ll just trust the love of my life for this plan and give it my all! Maybe all I have to do is to blast it to smithereens!
I inhaled for air once again and focused on this battle. Just like before, I absorbed the divine energy in the air but now together with the God Fragments that Rikkun has collected on his adventures. Rainbow dust once again danced around me as I materialized three magical circles, ready to fire a powerful beam once again.
“!!!”
A rainbow pillar of light, which is ten times larger than the last one I made, burst towards the skies. The moment the colorful blaster touched Necross Planet, it scattered on the surface of the world as if wrapping all of its crust. In this way, the blaster would absorb the planet's whole.
With this, Necross Planet should turn to dust!
However…
The slight glimpse of hope was immediately shifted to confusion and what-is-going-on when the Necross Planet’s tectonic plates shifted and remolded itself into a planetary dragon! With its gigantic mouth, it unleashed a dark photon ray that countered my all-out blast!
“Kuuuuh!!!” I cried in pain as I held myself together. I have to keep this blaster going on or else the dragon’s fire breath would reach the planet!
“GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!”
The roar of the cosmic dragon echoes all around the Yami dimension.

On the Road to Elspar (Book 1)
The year is 1329. The Huntress' War has entered its tenth year, inflaming competing nationalisms and pitting the Confederacy of Caldrein against one of the continent's superpowers, the Tenereian Union. Desperately outnumbered, the Confederacy has relied on the prowess of its famed Caldran mercenaries, with highly-trained and experienced warbands returning from foreign conflicts to the defense of their homeland, and it is on their backs that Caldrein has successfully mounted a valiant defense for a decade. But they are losing, and day by day, with all the grace of a sledgehammer, the vast Tenereian armies take one more bit of Caldran territory, one footstep at a time. Sixteen-year-old Neianne from the village of Caelon has submitted herself to Faulkren Academy, one of the centuries-old institutions established to train the next generation of Caldrein's elite soldiers of fortune, to learn the ways of wars for three years before embarking upon the defense of her country. Her dryad family once hailed from reclusive woodland communes isolated from Caldrein's complicated mainstream society, and her upbringing leaves the shy village girl unprepared to suddenly train alongside other apprentices from backgrounds as low as the dirty slums of Caldrein's cities and as high as the halls of aristocratic power. Yet the war is eroding the norms and traditions that the Caldran people have long considered part of their national mythos, and the tensions within the confederacy that have long simmered under the surface - race, class, community, identity - are slowly but surely dividing its people, and Neianne must grow and discover who she really is, even as the war that she is steadfastly training for comes to its inexorable end... On the Road to Elspar is a fantasy quest - a work of interactive fiction wherein readers get to vote on what happens next at critical junctures - that is the first entry in a story that follows Neianne of Caelon, which first began on July 20, 2016. Originally a three-part in medias res prologue to a larger story titled On the Elsparian Road, it was eventually decided that this section - which covers Neianne's three years at Faulkren Academy - become its own independent story due to length, structural, and accessibility reasons. Despite this being a reader interactive work of fiction, due to logistical and verification concerns, voting will only be counted on its thread on the forum Sufficient Velocity, where this story originally began. As such, the content here on Royal Road serves as a story-only archive. You are, of course, entirely welcome to enjoy On the Road to Elspar as a conventional work of fiction, just as you are welcome to comment, discuss, and provide critique. But if you would like to participate in the voting, then I would be honored to welcome you on Sufficient Velocity. To facilitate accessibility and to ensure the best reading experience, this story-only version of On the Road to Elspar will be updated at a periodic pace, even though further content exists, so as to not overwhelm new readers on Royal Road. If you enjoy this story, wish to binge it, and/or want to participate in voting immediately, you may of course read all additional content via the link provided above. This paragraph will be removed once the content on Royal Road catches up with what has already been posted in its original thread. Cover artwork by DreamSyndd.
