After leaving the clearing Jared whispered in his ears, "Why are we following a snot-nosed brat that probably has never seen blood much less shed his own? I know you helped raise him but doesn't that mean you should even more be the leader Cap?"

"First let me ask you, when you got shot the first time how did you react? If memory serves you went into shock right?" Before he could continue Jared interrupted,"yes that is my point how can we know how he will react?"

"I do know how he handles the stress of battle. Caleb was shot after beating and killing two others, Following the shot he shove a knife into the shooters throat before calmly shoving a piece of wadded shirt into the bullet hole." Thomas said

Thomas slowly bandaged his right arm were he received a nasty cut from the beast they just killed. It had been their hardest fight yet by a long shot. 9 of the fuckers ambushing them even before Jared could call out a warning which is shocking as Jared was one of the best scouts Thomas had ever met. Even the system recognized his talent giving him 26 points in perception at level 0. Luckily Caleb was still the monster he remember. Caleb managed to hold five of the bastard lynxes off while he and Jared killed the other 4 before the helped kill the remaining 3 Caleb was holding. Taking a moment to inspect it again.

Thomas was once more glad that he had decided to follow Caleb, some may wonder why a one hundred year old soldier like himself would happy follow a kid he changed diapers for but they weren't there that day.

Thomas had just set Robby down and was headed back outside to help Caleb with his little sister Tiana. That's when he heard a gunshot. He went running like a man in his fifties even though he was 93. When he got outside he saw a 11 year old Caleb shove a knife into the throat of a man in all black. Pulling up in shock Thomas looked around seeing that there was already 2 other men on the ground. He could tell at a glance that the knife came from the bigger mans corpse as each man had a knife and gun on a belt they were wearing but the big guys knife sheath was empty. He also saw that the back of Caleb's head had blood and that he had a bullet hole in his left shoulder. As he once again he headed towards his godson planning to help him with his wounds and ask what had happened. However before he could take a step he saw his godson tear off some cloth from the guys shirt before wadding it up and shoving it into his bullet hole.

At this point Caleb walked to Thomas's car opening the door and saying in a cheerful voice," TY-TY its ok the bad guys are all gone." It wasn't until this moment that he remembered the little 5-year old girl. Rushing over he saw Caleb spin around knife in hand in a backwards grip. He pulled up short by the gaze the 10 year old boy gave him, All of a sudden a switch seemed to be flipped as Caleb recognized him. "Hey gramps how are you doing?"

Thomas relaxed before saying that they needed to talk once they got Robby and Tiana settled, Caleb nodded in understanding. A few minutes later he had put Tiana down for a nape same with Robby. After doing so he headed to the den were he new Caleb would be waiting for him. Walking in he saw His godson sitting with a smile on his lips watching a cartoon. Taking a deep breath he started asking questions.

"Do you know who those men were"

"Yes. They were enemies of dad trying to kidnap us to pressure him"

"Why and more importantly how did you kill them"

"I did it because they were a threat to me and more importantly to TY-TY. I don't know how other than that I just moved in the way I felt was best to achieve my goal of eliminating the threat."

"Ok so you fought mostly by instincts, which makes as much sense as anything i guess, But why did you choose to put cloth into the bullet hole and how did you kill all three of them?"

"The first hit the back of my head trying to knock me out I faked it grabbing his knife as he lifted me up, shoving it into his neck after he lifted me up, The other man ran at me, I dove between his legs then onto his back shoving the knife into his neck as well. After standing up I felt danger and dogged to my right which is when i got shot. After that I ran at that guy, cutting his wrist to make him drop the gun followed by stabbing him in the back of the knee so he would kneel. Once he was low enough I killed him to. As for filling bullet hole with cloth Grandpa mentioned you did that to him during the war to prevent him from bleeding out"

Coming back to the present Thomas looked at his godson thinking this was the perfect world for him. Caleb was to powerful and raw to be in a more civilized world. That look in his eyes that day had stuck with Thomas for the last decade, it was like being looked at by a predator and a king. With a shrug he dispelled the imagery in his mind before calling up his status page to look over his gains.

So far both he and Jared had gained 2 levels and were close to gaining their 3rd. Caleb had just gained his 4th level. Everyone had spent their starting three free points. Yet after they discussed for a while they decided that they would save all the free points they earned from leveling until they reached a city and could get more information. He had put the three original ones in agility as its always better to be faster. Being faster means you can hit harder dodge better, help an ally in a pinch or get away when things turn to shit.

As he was reminiscing, Caleb stood up saying it was time to head out. He was hoping they'd reach one of the cities the big guy had been talking about, but part of him also worried about the trouble that could be caused, by a world with other races besides humans.
