--- Chapter 9 ---
Orson chases 4 into an open space.
4: So, you chased me into this wide open space? I hope you have a plan for this foolish act of thought.
Orson: Why, are you talking like that?
4: You may mock my speech, but you will eat your words soon fool.
Orson: Ok?
4 proceeds to retrieve metal device from under his cloak, which is in the shape of a handgun
4: Magic item Folta!
4 holds this in his right hand and places his left hand flat under the handle. An orange energy generates and swirls around, absorbing into the gun. A black rectangle on the left starts to charge up with orange rectangles. 4 strikes a pose.
4: My arcana “Forces” allows me to precisely calculate everything force related, so you're pretty much screwed.
Orson: Uhm, Ok?
4: I can instantly calculate force, thrust, drag, lift, efficiency, velocity, Speed, potential energy, kinetic energy, voltage, power, resistance, and mechanical advantage of anything I think of or anything I see really.
Orson: … Ok?
4: Ok kid your really getting on my nerves.
4, using his arcana, calculates everything, and pulls the trigger. Orson sees the shot and quickly strafes to the left. 4 closes his eyes striking a pose again, firing a second, hitting Orson in the stomach with a small explosion. A hole remains in the stomach part of his shirt, charred on the edges and the skin.
Orson: The thing packs a punch.
He says in an exasperated tone, like the wind was knocked out of him.
4: Are you finally gonna take this fight seriously.
Orson: To be honest you're the one not ta-
4: SILENCE!
He fires four shots at Orson, perfectly calculated, he dodges the first into the other 3. Orson gets sent flying from the hits.

Orson: shit that hurt
He tries to recollect himself, but as he does that, 4 starts to reload Folta, but moves his cloak to the side revealing an empty dagger sheath.
4: Magic item, Cera!
Orson: Two?!
4 grabs at the empty sheath like he was unsheathing a blade. Upon grabbing, a dagger materializes in his hand, too which he throws at Orson, who is lying on the ground.
Orson: Oh crap!
Orson quickly jumps to the side, but immediately takes a barrage of energy blasts.
4: AHahaHa, this is like taking candy from a baby, only it's your LIFE!
Orson quickly jumps to grab the knife he threw, only to find his fingers phasing through it, before it vanishes completely.
4: Ceras blades only live to hurt before vanishing completely. Since you seem so fascinated with them-
4 puts Folta away and moves Cera in a more accessible spot on his waste.
4: Then let me show you a little MORE of them!
He says this as he rapidly pulls blades from the sheath and throws them at Orson. Orson dodges to the best of his abilities but still takes a lot of them.
Orson: Is that all you got, chump?
4: … with that childish insult, your fate is sealed. NOW DIE!
4 pulls blades out, but as he does the sound of explosive fire is heard. That 1 guy with the scars is shooting the stone pillars causing many to collapse and fall over. One of which almost fell onto 4 causing him to jump back. Orson gathered his strength and ran at 4.
4: How the hell can you still move?! And how lucky do you have to be for a pillar to fall before I was able to kill you?
Orson tackles this man and starts to strangle him. 4 Swiftly responds to this by pulling a dagger and stabbing into Orsons side, and rolling on top of him. He then generates a new dagger sitting on top of Orson, holding it with two hands above his head.

4: Your luck is OVER! NOW DIE-
4 was abruptly cut off by the sound of an immense explosion from Mica's direction. A piece of metal comes flying at them, and sticks into the ground beside them. Micas short sword. Orson grabs the sword.
Orson: No, your lucks over.
Orson grabs 4 by the shirt and pulls him in close and stabs his back with the sword. 4s body goes limp.
4: the hell… you stabbed in between my damn spine. That shouldn't even be possible, my calculations…
Orson pushes 4 off with ease. 4, unable to breath due to paralysis. Slowly dies a painful and silent death.
Orson: My arcana, make me… extremely lucky. Your calculations were perfect and a formidable adversary, but due to my luck, you didn't once hit a vital spot. But damn you still hit me alot.
Orson takes 4’s magic items and pockets them. Still wounded and bleeding, he takes a while walking back to the group.

Sarsaparilla is an older teenage girl living on Mars. And, like many other young people around her, she has a super power. Or, rather, she is supposed to have a super power. Only she has never been able to activate it, she doesn’t even know what her super power is. This annoys her, tremendously. But she hides this behind a really sweet smile. Adalace is another teenage girl, also on Mars. She knows what her own super power is, and it is quite a good one. She is also really cute… so long has she keeps her feelings under control and doesn’t let out anything from her dark past. Teylon is a man, currently living on Earth. He likes to think of himself as still young, even if he is over fifty. He’s a bit smug about his successful career and is thinking of retiring… until a sadly unfortunate event leads him to the conclusion that he had better immigrate to Mars. Immediately. Apparently, meeting one’s own Angel of Death tends to cause people to make profound changes to their lives… Mars society had better brace itself, because once these three people, plus another three also not so quite stable individuals, collide with each other, the resulting explosion is not going to leave anyone on Mars unaffected. This is another Esmeralda, the Angel of Death, story. It follows on from my previous two such stories, but it is in no way dependent on the previous stories. They can be read in any order. It is fully written and proof read (using Word for Windows, no real editor touched this transcript) and comes to about 247,000 words (about 895 Royal Road pages). It is organized into 50 chapters and I will be publishing them roughly one per day. In my writing, there are multiple characters and multiple points of view. Each change in a point of view is introduced by a header, giving the viewpoint character’s name first, and possibly a title. Inside a Point of View section, dialog in italics represents the Point of View character’s thoughts, while dialog between quotes represent normal spoken dialog. This story is very much inspired by the anime A Certain Scientific Railgun. However I have only taken some elements from the anime, and changed everything I took to make my own story, and so it does not count as fanfiction. Yeah, I know, the book cover page isn’t very good. It’s the best I could do, by tracing over a stock image. The two ladies shown are supposed to be Adalace and Sarsaparilla. Ideally I would have liked there to be two images of this pair, one where they are smiling sweetly and looking cute, and one where they are looking really angry and dangerous. But that totally exceeds my graphics abilities. You will just have to imagine it.
