《Vampire》Chapter 18 - Taming the Witch

After arriving at the tower, Reed shoved Anna inside the tower and entered himself, cape floating in the wind.
Anna, after being released, rubbed her neck and looked at Reed with sharp eyes.
...Motherfucker… Why did you let me go? Oh, there’s plenty of reason. Before anything else, let me ask: Have you been communicating with the magic confederation in secret? …I guess there’s no point in hiding it. Yes. I knew it. I knew there was some sort of communication magic I didn’t know about.
Reed had been feeling leakages of mana coming from Anna’s room during the night, so he guessed she must have been doing something like that.
I am also thinking the king doesn’t know about this communication magic? Otherwise there would be no point in sending the heroes back. …That’s also correct. The king and his kingdom are unaware of the presence of this communication magic. I see. So there you have it, that’s one of the reasons why I didn’t kill you: Because you have been communicating with the magic confederation, that’s why they are staying put. If you stop the communications, they probably will figure something is up and will come here looking for you, and after not finding you, they would not only expulse me from the tower, but also execute me for killing an important member of the hero party. That’s some good judgment there, kyehehe! But that’s not all, is it? No, it’s not. The king will eventually send a scout over here to deliver a message to me: Stay in the tower and protect it. After all, the village of Marth is covered by a forest teeming with demonic beasts, and they would probably wreck this tower if left alone. If the scout found out I killed you, the kingdom and the hero party both would be after my head as well. Very true, very true. What more? Your ability to use magic could be useful to me. Not only can you teach me magic, but you also can heal me in a pinch and help me out against strong foes. And what makes you think I would help you after what happened? Well, maybe if you let me use your body for some experiments… I still didn’t figure out where this mysterious power you exhibit sometimes comes from. Hell no. I was reading a book on history in the library, and I came across a very interesting magic. And what does that have to do with anything, idiot? The magic is called: slavery magic. Fuck you!!! Why the hell would I willingly slave myself for you!? Would you rather be tortured for the rest of your life? I have no way of trusting you, so I can only use this method to make you loyal to me. Of course, I can’t take away all of your will, only make you unable to hurt me. …Uh, what do you mean, tortured for the rest of my life? If I want to make you tame, that’s one of the best ways. I know from experience. So what will it be? Torture, or slavery? You, you are a horrendous being, you know that? You got be kidding me, right? You think I would be joking after what you did to me and my wolves?

Reed eyes shined, still dragonic like in appearance, meaning he still was in his most powerful state.
Alright, fine. Let’s go with slavery, so long as you only take away my ability to hurt you. Great, come with me then.
Going down into the magic research room, Reed started searching for a book on slavery magic.
While he did, Anna tried to escape, but before she could, Reed disappeared and reappeared in front of her.
Continuing his search, Anna tried to escape multiple times, but every time she got blocked, until Reed found a book on rituals that contained the slavery ritual.
Reed grabbed Anna by the scruff of her neck and dragged her towards the ritual room, on the third upper floor. Anna looked annoyed at the way she was being handled.
Going inside the room, Reed got some incubus blood from one of the vials in the room, and started to draw a large circle in the center of the room, where there was a large empty space.
While he was doing that, Anna kept trying to escape again, to no avail.
Finished with the circle, Reed dragged Anna into the middle of it and put her there.
Then he got outside the circle and said:
Now, do the ritual and enslave yourself to me. What the fuck!? Do it yourself! I can’t. I know nothing about magic and incantations, so you have to do it yourself. Also, you can make sure I don’t try to put any more rules besides not hurting me on you if you do that. …Fine. I’ll do it then. Pass me the incantation Here you go.
Reed passed a piece of paper to Anna.
Anna seemed deep in thought for a while, but eventually she sighed and and resigned herself to her fate.
Chanting a long incantation, the circle Anna stood on started to shine while weird words were being recited. Reed stood by the side looking at the book on slavery rituals. He had to make sure she was doing it correctly.

The circle’s light started to die down, and Anna was finally finished with her chant. The circle disappeared, and then the ritual was done.
Normally, now I would mark you with my initials or something to confirm you as my slave, but there’s no need for that, is there? …No, thank you very much. Glad you agree. By the way, there’s something I didn’t tell you about the incantation I passed you. …What is it? I don’t like the sound of that…
Anna looked nervous as she asked Reed, and he answered
I included in the incantation a rule that makes your life bound to mine. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!? That means if you die I die too!? I thought you knew nothing of incantations!! I lied. I researched a thing or two about the words in this magic in particular. It fascinated me. YOU GODDAM WEIRDO!!! HOW WEIRD CAN YOU BE!? Shut up, evil witch. It’s done now, there’s nothing you can do about it. UGH!! I can’t believe I didn’t notice something like that! By the way, I also added one to make you not talk about your slavery. FUCK YOU!!
Looking depressed, Anna hung her head low. Reed looked at her as if looking at trash.
Now then, bitch. Let’s sleep. It’s a long day tomorrow, and we need to recover from the useless battle that we had. …Got it.
Anna and Reed then went up the stairs, and when they were about to enter their rooms, Reed suddenly said:
I just remembered something. What is it?
Saying nothing, Reed then went towards Anna, put his hand on her head, and roughly pet her.
Then, still in silence, he turned his back at her and entered his room.
Anna stood there for a moment, looking confused.
And then she blushed red.
YOU GODDAMM WEIRDO!!! I NEARLY KILLED YOU!!!
Screaming into the night, Anna entered her room and slammed the door shut.
Reed, inside his room, thought to himself:
“Her head is really pettable“.
And with that, Reed had acquired a magic slave for himself, and a contact with the magic confederation.

Finally, Anenna must begin to confront a new identity as the last parts of her old one abandon her. In the background of their journey is the mystery around the Immortal King, the mythic founder of the Biterrain’s dominant religion who allegedly disappeared to Earth many millennia ago.
