《New World》Chapter 07- Dungeon

[David]
After getting their job request , we started out towards the village outskirts. To be precise, it was the home of a farmer who had recently been killed because of the sudden monster infestation. We had recieved information that many goblins were now infested the place.
"Well, might as well make it quick." I told the both of them while stifling a yawn. I still hadn't caught up to my loss of sleep because of Galvin waking us up for breakfast at 7. No doubt, Arianne might be a battle cleric, but I had no intention of leaving my life in the hands of someone I had just met...and one of the copper class.
Arianne and I lagged behind, Arianne was probably tired but I was just plain fucking sleepy. Alice led both of us to the destination, the outermost farmhouse in Murcel village.
We slowly started to activate Stealth as we moved towards the house. Arianne had no suitable skill, so she had to remain in the back and follow us slowly.
I took a closer look at the farmhouse.
"Yep guys, this is the place. There are even sentries here. Lets make this quick." I whispered to the both of them. Alice then took a look at the surroundings and decided the best choice of action and the tactics to be used. She was to handle the sentries with a mix of Stealth and Dual-Blade Mastery while I supported her from the woods. Arrianne was to stand behind me because she was the only healer present.
Alice signalled to commence the plan. I looked over to Arianne and she nodded her head. The plan had commenceed. Alice used Step to melt in to the darkness and started to move forward towards one of the two Level 10 Sentry Goblins. I quitely nocked 2 arrows for my Double Shot aimed at the other sentry . Arianne stood battle ready..

Before long, the first sentry was downed by two iron daggers which had sprouted out of his chest. The second sentry opened his mouth to shout but I was quicker.
*SHLICK*
2 arrows now sprouted from his body. One from his forehead and the other from his chest. Alice, sfter confirming that there were no other sentries present, nodded at me. Silently, the both of us came out of the woods and stalked towards the farmhouse.
I stood 3 meters away from the cottage door and nocked two arrows . Alice nodded at me slinked to the side and pushed the door wide open. However...
"What the fuck?" I frowned. "There's no one inside." I said turning to the both of them.
Alice frowned in displeasure and sat down.
Arianne seemed to close her eyes for a moment and said " That is not possible. This place must have something to it. Sentries wouldn't stand guard to nothing you know."
I agreed to her suggestion.
"I think it's best that we check the interiors." I told the both of them while shouldering my bow. I released my short sword from its scabbard and held it while we explored the house. Now normally, whenever I played RPGs I would always go for the Beserker class but now that I was finally equipped with a shortsword, i could feel a small shudder course through my body as I missed the familiar weight of the bow in my hands. Although I could deal considerable damage with my sword due to my immense strength, the bow just seemed natural for me.
We split up on entering the house . Arrianne was to cover the bedrooms while Alice covered the Kitchen and I covered the study and the living rooms. I scanned the entirety of both the rooms and even ransacked the drawers. Hell, I even found something nice... 3 silver. It aint stealing if the owner's dead is it?

We met up after a while by the entrance.
"Well? FInd anything?" I asked the two of them.
"Yes! I did!" Alice replied with a straight face.
"What did you find? " I asked eagerly. Arianne too had a look of interest on her face.
"This!!" she giggled, taking out a potato.
I sighed in exasperation and took the potato from her. Arianne just looked away.
I rubbed the dirty potato all over her face smearing it, much to her exasperation. I looked at our third member and asked, "Well? Judging from your face, I guess you didnt find anything either huh"
She just gave me a wry smile.
Out of exasperation, I threw the potato at the nearest vase. The vase slightly tilted and a low groaning sound was heard. The bookshelf had slid to the side, exposing a staircase that led to a lower floor.
"Whoa" I gasped. The two girls just looked at me with incredulous expressions.
"Just one of the perks of being as charismatic as me" I smirked. Alice just rolled her eyes and Arianne giggled. She was quite beautiful with her red hair let down . I saw her chest heaving as she giggled and I watched as the melons bounced with a satisfied expression on my face. Arianne had obviously caught my gaze and she averted her gaze with a beet red face.
Suddenly a notification appeared before us.
*ding*

"Sweet" Alice muttered and Arianne seconded her.
"Well. It's this or nothing" I smirked as I headed down the stairs.

Judas Valiant: Chorus of the Machine Giants
The world of Judas Valiant is bustling with Fantasy and a touch of Steampunk. This is an original tale made as an homage to the famed Studio Ghibli and Guillermo Del Toro, all-the-while taking inspirations from numerous animes and fantasies alike (Too many to love! Too many to name!). When a bloody catastrophe strikes a young boy's home, desperation brings about an unknown visitor. Plagued with gut-wrenching fear and an oncoming spiral into madness comes the boy's only hope of survival. Ripe with desperate opportunity, arrives the many-faced creature rushing to make a deal worth several lifetimes. "To find your way into your parent's arms again, you'll need to become a Valiant." He explained. "A Valiant?" I responded suspiciously. "...One must perform a 3-part task in which you must demonstrate the essence of a Mother, the essence of a Father, and earn the essence of a Gaurdian." He explained with haste. Innocently playing into the unknown visitor's tempting hand, the boy agrees to a deal hopelessly intertwined with a journey like no other and is sent to the mysterious and massive city of New Dwarden. Faced with outrageously colorful characters, towering and seemingly alien animal life, and even talking frogs-lemur's, the boy must adapt to grand adventure to complete his impossible task. This a steampunk story about a second chance at life, one that grows beyond life and death. Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.

The Weather Vane
This is the first few chapter of my new book available on Amazon. The beginning is very light and fun, but more mature content comes later. From medieval fantasy to ultra high-tech to dinosaurs, The Weather Vane is a grippingly fast-paced adventure full of fun and excitement, literary flourish, and colorful characters. A group of ascendant masters find themselves in the afterlife and learn that they are newly recruited into the cosmic battle of good versus evil. Before they can join the fight, shipwreck strikes and they are lost in the ether. Stranded in a magical land beyond the reaches of the universe, The Weather Vane follows our crew of heroes as they try to piece things back together even while The Dark Lord’s forces march, maraud, and murder at every turn. Themes of darkness chase the overall levity of The Weather Vane which suffers not a lull as the climax begins near the beginning of the book and drives on through the greatly satisfying finish. The most epic of epics.
