《Kill Me With Desire》Chapter Fourteen

Let me make something completely clear. I never intended to chase Harper through the Coal Creek woods. I must admit, it was a real fun time, but I didn't go there to stalk her. It was actually a total coincidence that we were there at the same time. Did I need to chase her? No. Did I want to chase her? Totally. But she noticed that I was following her and she just started running. I didn't know what to do so I ran after her. At one point, I said to myself: "Why are we doing this? She must be terrified." But I couldn't stop. There was something about the chase that drove me wild and I was infinitely rewarded for doing so.
At some point while we were running, Harper dropped her phone. I saw it fly out of her pocket but I couldn't stop chasing after her. To be honest, I had no idea what I was going to do when I caught up to her. But it didn't matter. The chase was the only thing that mattered in that moment. Eventually, the sun started to set and we reached a parking lot. That's when I knew that it was all over. There was bound to be a whole lot of cars ahead and getting caught was definitely not on my to-do list.
So I cut my losses and went back to search for Harper's phone. It took me about fifteen minutes to find it, but when I did, it all became worth it. The screen was slightly cracked and the whole thing was covered in mud. Luckily, it still worked. I made my way back to my car and grabbed some old Wendy's napkins from the glove compartment. After a few minutes of damage control, I'd unlocked her phone. Who makes their pin their birthday? Harper Torres, that's who.

It was an old iPhone. Many generations have proceeded it since and she clearly didn't use it much. One of the first things that I checked was her text messages. Rowan. Ben. Mom. Josh. She doesn't have very many friends. But that was something that I always liked about her. Next was her Google search history. Lucky for me, it was linked with her laptop so everything she searched on there was also on her phone. It was somewhat short but definitely interesting. Mayor Gibbins. Mayor Gibbons secretary. Alicia Wadsworth secretary. Mayoral sex scandals. Rowan Wilde. Why was she searching for information on Rowan? Doesn't she know all there is to know about her? She is her best friend, after all.
I had her phone for less than a day before she deactivated it. In that time, Rowan texted her about a hundred times and, of course, I didn't reply. I felt like that would be rude. But after she saw that her texts went unanswered, she began to call. After a while, she gave up, but it felt good to make her worry. She doesn't deserve Harper, anyway.
After the SIM card was deactivated, I didn't really have any use for the phone. So, I backed up a copy of it's contents onto my computer and sealed it away in a box of Harper's things. Since then, my collection has grown substantially. One day, I hope to show it to her. It'll be like she's touring a museum of her own life. I think she'll be ecstatic.

Bitter
The story of a girl who finds her life is not what she wanted. So she gets another one. Schedule: Story has been completed. Book One is available free on Amazon and EPUB. Books Two to Five are out now. Final Book out soon. Chapters will be around 500-1000 words. This will not change so if you don't like reading very short chapters wait till the end of the week or even end of the month. This many chapters a week isn't easy to pull off so please bear that in mind. This is a VRMMORPG story, but the ones I've read tend to use VR as an excuse to get into a fantasy world and then don't really play up the game aspect other than pulling up a status screen every now and then. To me, MMOs are about more than the fantasy setting. Bugs, exploits, devs who don't understand their own game, OP classes, over the top nerfs, p2w, ridiculous RNG, cash shop fiasco, lockboxes, raging players, broken mechanics, limited bag space, tedious crafting and above all that, a company trying to squeeze money out if its playerbase while pretending they're just in the business of having fun. Of course, then there's the orcs and elves. This story is about finding yourself in a completely immersive fantasy game, but it's also about what a game like that would really be like.

A New Beginning
Humans don't understand how someone can be both dead and alive, and that fact scares them, it opens up the possibility of a threat even if there is no evidence of malevolent intent. So, the only solution in the minds of humanity is to dominate and subjugate the unknown variable until it no longer has even the potential to be a threat. They choose to pretend that the unknown variable is lesser, that humanity is superior on no other grounds than that it's humanity. Danny had been stuck with the G.I.W for years when the Young Justice team rescued him. Broken, beaten, and none the wiser of the greater majority of humans, the humans with kindness in their eyes and light in their souls. He's been trapped in the darkness of greed and fear and violence for far too long, and what's left behind is a fractured mind and a trained weapon. Buried underneath that, however, is a young child who is scared and confused, a child that hasn't seen the light of day in years. That child never expected to see the bright side to existence, to see the light shine in the souls of the righteous. That all changed with one group of heroes, and one family of Bats.Cover doesn't belong to me.Cross-published on two other sites*Undergoing heavy editing, nothing plot-wise is changing, I am only editing grammar, mechanics, vocabulary, sentence variation, and formatting and overall I am just making it a more pleasant and refined read :) I am also deleting the A/Ns at the beginning and end of each chapter
