《P I G S》24. And so the seventh bell never rang

We hurriedly moved through the forest.

No matter how far we went there were pig bodies everywhere still.

I couldn’t believe how many pigs were there were.

As we continued out I started seeing bodies of not just the pigs but also of some of the monsters.

One had the head of a snake however it look as if it had been eaten alive as bite marks were all over it and you could see the fear in its eyes.

I couldn’t get the sight of Wilson and Annabelle’s death out of my mind.

I didn’t know how to feel about it.

I felt sad about it however I could still see Cheryl’s dead body mangled and splayed for the world to see.

I tried to stop thinking about it however we weren’t talking so it made it easy for my mind to wander.

Eventually, we stopped wandering when we came to what I thought was a random part of the forest.

The albino girl walked over to a shrub and it away and revealed a submarine hatch.

She turned the wheel to open it then invited us inside.

Before I entered Ezra asked,

“Aren’t we supposed to be going to the man who gave us the rules?”

She looked at him and replied

“Usually yes, however, the seventh bell never rang. Come inside and I will explain more.”

After that, we decided to go inside.

Inside was a large room with a few bunk beds against the wall and at the back, there was a shelf of canned food lined up on it.

In the middle of the room, there was a carpet.

I was surprised that a place like this existed here.

Even more so I was curious as to how she knew about it.

She walked over to the carpet and lifted it up. Under it was a wooden hatch.

She opened the hatch and revealed a staircase downward she walked down it and we followed after her.

When we got down to the floor I was in shock.

There were guns, rope, tools, anything you would imagine being stored in case of an apocalypse was there.

Everyone except the albino girl was shocked.

She unloaded the ammo from her guns and threw the ammo into a box and hung her guns up on the wall using hooks.

She turned around and saw the three of us standing behind her.

After a moment she spoke

“It seems that you want some of your questions answered.

I promise to tell you however, I need to go back out there and find out why the bell didn’t ring.

I should be back by tomorrow morning.”

I was annoyed that she wasn’t going to tell us about what was going on and I was about to speak up about it however Ezra spoke first

“How do we know that you are going to come back? You could just be planning to leave us.”

She looked at us and said

“You don’t know you just have to trust me.

Unless you want to follow me, however, I know this place much better than you, and I won’t hesitate to abandon you if we come across anything dangerous.”

as she said that my mind wandered to the monsters and I decided that it was worth trusting her.

She did save us from Annabelle and gave us shelter.

Ezra also seemed okay with that answer as it seemed that he came to the same conclusion as me and Jack seemed horrified of going back into the forest.

She grabbed a hunting knife and a small silenced pistol and walk back to the upstairs.

We followed behind her until she climb up through the main hatch and left us.

We stayed there in silence for a moment.

The adrenaline seemed to finally be wearing off and Jack started shaking me.

Fear was in his eyes and even without a voice, I could tell what he was saying.

‘Where is my sister?’.

I didn’t know what to tell him.

I couldn’t look him in the eyes and that seemed to be all the information he needed.

Tears fell from his eyes as the slow realization fell in.

He dropped to his knees and silently cried to himself.

Ezra got down and rubbed his back while giving him his condolences.

All I could do was just stand there.

I didn’t know what to do.

I felt as if the little amount of hope still left in me shattered into a million pieces.

For a moment I pondered going to the basement and borrowing a bullet for my skull to end the despair, however, the albino girl’s words kept me from acting on this impulse.

Jack on the other hand seemed to do more than ponder.

He ran towards the wooden hatch and opened it.

He rushed down so quickly his feet slipped off the stairs and he tumbled down to the floor.

Understanding his intent I and Ezra jumped down after him.

He managed to get up before we got down and run towards the weapons.

He grabbed a knife and aimed it towards his neck.

Before it could reach Ezra grabbed his wrist preventing the blade from going into his neck.

Ezra managed to wrestle it out of his hand then put his left arm over Jacks’s shoulder and another under his armpit.

He clasped his hand in front of Jacks’ chest and swept Jack’s leg while turning his body.

Ezra ended up on his knees putting his force onto Jack as he forced him onto his butt.

Jack tried to resist however, he didn’t have enough strength.

After a frantic moment, Jack eventually gave up on resisting and just sat there crying.
