《Stuck in a zombie world with an OP shop》Chapter One, What happened to our world?!

'This is so stupid,' The man climbing down a ladder thought as he descended into the darkness of the sewer. Only the night from his headlamp lit the way. His name is Ryan Stone, a member of the Detroit City maintenance branch.
>Welcome to the new world.
'Huh?' The man thinks, pausing his descent. "Hey, Ron, you see this?" He yells up the manhole.
"Yeah, it's in front of my vision, like a video game," Ron replies. While looking up, Ryan can see Ron trying to swat in front of his face.
>You have sixty seconds to prepare. Good luck.
"Um, I think we should get back to the van," Ryan says, and starts to climb up. He didn't know what was about to happen, but didn't want to be climbing onto a ladder when it happened, or even stuck inside the sewer.
"Yeah, just give me a second," Ron says and begins to unclip himself from the ladder. With himself before Ron, Ryan could not move any higher. Forty seconds into the sixty second time limit, Ron finally removes his clips from the ladder and beings to ascend. Ryan is slowly behind him.
However, just as Ron reached the top of the ladder, another screen of text appeared in front of Ryan.
>Okay, that's it. The game beings now!
"We better hurry," Ron says and walks away from the sewer entrance.
"Hey, don't leave me down here!" Ryan yells up, but Ron is already gone. Ryan begins to ascend once more, but is stopped when the underside of a car appears over the hole, darkening the entire scene for Ryan. "Hey, what's going on up there?"
"Holy shit!" Someone, probably Ron, yells, and the voice moves further away from the manhole.

'God damn,' Ryan begins to think, and starts ascending the ladder once more. A few seconds later, a man comes sliding under the car bottom and into the manhole.
"Don't go up there!" Yells Ron, who is now hanging onto the highest run of the ladder.
"What is it?" Ryan asks.
"Fucking zombies, man!" Ron yells, and reaches his head up to take another look. "I covered the manhole with the van, just so it might protect us a little more,"
"Hey, that's some good thinking," Ryan said to him, only half-believing what Ron said. Zombies were not real, but then again, there was nothing real that made text appear in front of a person's face like in a video game.
"Shit man, shit," Ron repeats and goes further inside the manhole. "It's a shit show out there. I'll try and swing to the side, if you want to take a look,"
"Yeah, let me take a look," Ryan says, and maneuvers himself to climb the ladder past Ron and reaches the top. Outside the manhole, the city is crawling with mobs of people stumbling like drunks. There are a few towers of smoke, and several piles of bloody remains on the pavement. "Damn, that's harsh,"
"I wonder if we can escape from down here," Ron says, and Ryan looks down. Almost the at the bottom of the ladder, Ron has been descending the entire time.
>Congratulations, you have survived for five minutes!
>Now we will distribute classes based on your natural inclinations...
"Are you seeing these new ones?" Ron yells up to Ryan.
"Yeah, I wonder-" Ryan is cut off.
>You have been given the class of Tycoon!
"Did you just get a class?" Ron yells up.

"Yeah, tycoon. What about you?" Ryan yells down.
"I got explorer. I wonder what it does," Ron says and hops down from the ladder.
"Tycoon, that's like the owner of a business, right?" Ryan asks Ron.
"Something like-" Ron begins to answer, but is suddenly pulled into the water of the sewer.
"Shit, Ronald!" Ryan yells, but he gets no response.
> Now that the most distracted are out of the way, I'll explain your classes...
> You have the class "Tycoon". With it, you are able to access the premium shop and trade with credits.
"What's that supposed to mean?!" Ryan yells at the text and looks down the manhole. "Ron, can you hear me?!"
Ryan gets no reply.

Paladin
When the first derelict alien spacecraft fell to Earth, humanity took what was found in it and propelled themselves to new heights. In their new Golden Age, humanity developed technology that they had only dreamed about. The following years saw hundreds more ships crash into the planet, spurring even greater technological leaps. An unassuming spacecraft, one of the dozens that fell yearly, descended on Siberia in 2021. The world took no particular notice of it. However, this one contained something beyond the miraculous technology that had made humans so prosperous. Three years later, in a top-secret underground facility in eastern Colorado, the automated construction of an army of Paladin Mobile Infantry Suits was underway. With this new, state-of-the-art weaponry, the military would turn the tide against the alien incursion that was consuming the planet. Humanity fell before that could happen. Sam was an engineer responsible for overseeing the facility. Now alone, he lives in utter boredom and near insanity, his only company the base’s pseudo AI and an army of empty Paladins. With the world gone to hell around him, and the things that caused it still living above, he decides that he is much better off staying exactly where he is. Unfortunately for him, that is no longer an option. This is the first novel I've written. The first fifteen or so chapters are going to be a little slower. I want there to be time to get to know the characters before they start blowing stuff up. Also, though the MC will be strong relative to the world, he won't be OP, and won't win every fight. Not every fight will be physical either. Currently, I'm aiming for something like 5 fairly short chapters a week, after the introduction part is done, but we'll see how that goes. Thanks for reading, and please let me know if I've made mistakes!
