《The Mimic》chapter 2: Annoying

Chapter 2: Annoying
I once again find myself consuming some fresh rabbit meat. Emm. It taste pretty good after you get use to the sliminess and blood. Though that is perhaps because my taste buds are no longer that of a human’s. Just as I am munching on the dead animals bones; I see in the corner of my eye I can see a curious little girl, staring at me with a gaze similar to that of a diligent student, to her teacher.
That idiotic little girls has been following me ever since yesterday when her guardians died. She doesn’t seem to be upset with the fact the I pretty much got them killed. Though what also piques my interest is, her ability to follow me in the darkness of this cave. In my short time in this world I have ecountered other humans other than her and the other two; and one thing I’ve noticed is that all the humans down here carry torches with them. So humans in this world clearly don’t have the ability to see in complete darkness, like I do.
Well whatever, I am trying to get out of this cave so it may actually be a smart move for her to follow me. Though I wish she would stop following me in such an odd way; I say to myself as I see the, very energetic, girl do a side roll to avoid my gaze.
Now that I am done eating I guess it’s time to find my way out this place. So far I have explored most of this place, I am sure of it. I have been using the places I’ve seen humans as a marker to where an exit could be. When I think about all the people I’ve seen I can come up with three distinct areas, that the people have been coming from. With my new detailed memory, I form in my mind the image of the humans I have encountered thus far and the location I saw them coming from. Yes, three areas. The most recent is the little girl and those two dead idiots. If my sense of direction is correct they came from that direction. I move my gaze to the empty corrido; only to see the girl, still on my trail. She moves her legs back quickly in a cartoonish fashion, in surprise, as soon as she spots me.
What an idiotic little girl. As I get closer, she springs herself towards the wall and tries to flatten her body, as if that would hide her from me. Hehehaha. What and odd child. This no time to do such things kid I say to myself; knowing she wouldn’t understand me, even if I spoke aloud.

My little walk takes about half an hour, little girl in tow, until I reach an unfamiliar place. On my way, here, I realized that the little girl is a lot stronger than she looks. While I was fighting a Giant mole type monster. During the fight, another monster came up behind me. Before I could even think of turning around, the giant moles claws were already swinging downwards. In the brief moment of the swing toward my head, a Fire ball appeared out of nowhere and hit the mole monster. The I looked at the little girl, in shock. I turn back to my original enemy and try to finish it off quickly. Once I end the moles life I turn my attention to the other one only to find it dead at the little girl’s feet; Her face covered in beads of sweat and her back arched forward in exhaustion.
The attack from behind has made me realize how lucky I have been. When I first arrived my ability to fight was pathetic. In fact, the only reason I even risked my neck that first day, and fought, was because my hunger was killing me. I had no choice but to fight, it was a fierce battle but I won by a thin margin. From then it became easier and easier to kill the rabbits.
“sellen gos ne?(???)
A voice a bit ahead of me echoed throughout the cave. Agh great humans. I’d rather not pointlessly kill them. Wait… I think to myself for moment. I move the floating balls, held only by my branches, I call eyes and turn to the little girl. This will get the kid out of my hair, though I suppose she hasn’t been causing me much problems.
I try to form words; but instead of a human voice, The words that come out are deep sounding knocks, frightening the girl more than she already was. The girl jumps back a little as I try speak. Then the torch’s reach our location and illuminate the small corridor. My vision blurs for a moment and a brief pain hits my brain. Do I have a brain? My vison clears and the first thing I see is the little girl, her mouth open so wide I swear her jaw was about to unhinge, and her eyes as big as an anime characters.
“Goh goh goh” was the sound I made but what I am thinking is. “Please don’t scream again.”
“AGHHDJFGJDJ.” She screamed… I look back to the two humans, nervous that they may get the wrong idea, that brought the torches. Two men this time; one, thin and covered with armor of some type, with a sword at his waist, and the other as big, in more ways than one, as a boulder holding a club in one hand and shield in the other.

“GITZZ!!!” Suddenly I feel the warmth of a human and a small tug at my branches. The little girl was holding onto my branches closing her eyes as tightly as she could. It seems she knows these guys; but her fear for them is stronger than her fear me, it seems.
“Gi ta gen mimic.”(Girl)
“Gyeo mente pa!!”(Girl)
Well this is a problem.
“Mei tem get nak!!” The Boulder man yelled. That isn’t going to convince anyone idiot. The girl’s warmth leaves my branches and before I know it she is walking towards them. What?? So, she does know them. My mistake, or so I thought.
“Meo Yei!! Meo yei!!”(Girl) She yelled at the top her lungs as she struggled to turn her head and look at me, her legs still walking towards the two men. From here I can see that she is in tears, she was pleading for my help. For a moment, I was confused but then I saw it.
On her neck, a black collar, now glowing a slight purple hue. I quickly grabbed the small girl. Her eyes widen for a moment but the two men were the most surprised. I took their surprise as an opportunity to rip the collar. I gripped the collar around her neck and gripped opposite ends and began to force it apart. The collar stung my Branches with a strange kind of pain but nothing to horrible. As soon as the collar was torn off her neck the began to glow red and burst into small rays of light.
Wo, that could have been bad If I had done that too slowly.
The two men stood there in complete surprise at what had just transpired. I tightened my wooded limbs tightly together and grabbed the girl, moving her behind me, to protect her from the two men.
“SEO!!”(girl) The girl screamed, most probably, with tears in her eyes. The two men were brought back to reality with that angered scream of hers.
After a few moments of silence the two mens face began to look almost demon like with how red their cheeks began to glow. Looks like these morons are about to start a fight.
Boulder man starts it; with an attack with his club. As soon as his club reaches my branch like limbs, I move them in the direction his hit is going. This causes him to tumble like a bowling pin to the ground.
*Slam* He hits the ground hard, and begins to squeal like a pig.
“GOH GOH GOH!!!” In other words, “SHUT THE FUCK UP!!”. I sharpen three of my limbs use them to pierce the Boulder man’s neck. If You are a big man when it comes to kidnaping children but not when fighting monster then you are nothing a but a pathetic insignificant piece of garbage. I Extend my tendrils deeper into the man’s neck and slither my wooden limbs up his neck and into his skull. His brain should be mush my now. I then extend two of the three tendrils and make them exit out of his eye sockets and the third out of his throat.
I hold him up for the other Thug to see. This is an intimidation tactic. Corpse frighten humans, because they show the inevitability if our own mortality. There exists few humans who can conquer this fear and even fewer who are born not caring about their own mortality. I am the latter. Death does not cause me fear nor delight. My life has always been hell so if anything, death is an end to this misery. Even so, I find myself protecting a small child, a girl no less, one I only just met, against these men I do not know. It would be so easy to just let the girl go with them. But I cannot.
The only person I have ever held dear in this world will not let me. Even in her death I can still hear her voice. It is haunting me, always telling me to do the right thing.; but am I doing the right thing? Is murder justifiable to protect someone? I do not know, the question is to complex and the situation, grey. I only know that in this moment that is what I feel I must do.
The thug stays paralyzed, in fear, looking at his friend’s corpse, then a large flame burst out of nowhere and hits the thug dead on. He begins to squirm around the ground and screams as the flame consumes his body and eats at his flesh. He yells some unintelligible words but they are more than likely cries for help.
I am not so heartless I say to myself, as I thrust my sharpened branch like limbs into his eye sockets.
I’ll kill you quickly.
