“Vincent can you hear me?”
Vincent blinked, thinking maybe he had hit his head too hard and was hearing things.
“Vincent?”
“Who is this?” Vincent said incredulously
“Hit your head a little too hard boyo?” Baron Vardfort said from his position over Vincent, hearing Vincent's outburst.
“It's Elaina. Remember? Your Fiance? Who you were supposed to be meeting right now?” Vincent could hear the admonishing, and he thought, teasing notes in her 'voice' as it rang in his head.
“Uh, yeah, about that. Sorry, I don't think I'll be making our meeting.” Vincent said, quietly, a sense of melancholy descending over him as he watched the baron continue to fight valiantly, slowing with every swing.
“Yeah... I'm watching you now.” Vincent looked up and around, then back down.
“Right, divination. Sorry, I think you wasted your trip. I wish we had gotten to meet.” Vincent said, his voice low and melancholy.
“Wow you're grim, I'm trying to rescue you!” Elaina retorted, attempting to inject some energy back into the conversation.
“Well if you are gonna do it, it had better be quick. I don't think Vardfort can last much longer.”
Baron Vardfort was standing back over him again, his left arm hung limply at his side and the Maul dragged in his right hand. As Vincent watched the Baron let the maul drop to the ground, and drew the sword that was hanging from his side. The short sword looked absolutely puny in the Baron's hand.
“Right, can you teleport back here? No wait, hold on Mira has a plan.”
“Mira's there too? I am going to get it so bad when I get home...” Vincent said to himself.
“What was that? No... No Mira I can't talk to both of you at the same time. Vincent, Mira says you have some sortof swapping spell?”

“Translocate? Yeah it's one of the easiest spells to learn but... I need to see the object I want to translocate. That's really not going to help here.”
“Alright, as soon as you see Mira, cast the spell, I don't know how long I can keep this up.”
Vincent waited, eyes following Baron Vartford as he moved about, parrying the spears that were harrying him. The men were growing confident as more of their number arrive, and despite the bodies the Baron had left on the ground, some were beginning to grow in confidence, resulting in two with swords attempting to charge the Baron.
Vincent watched as the Baron deftly batted aside their blade and opened the throat of one, before dipping low and detaching the other's leg at the knee, all while his left arm flopped uselessly. This caused the rest of the group to back up a moment.
And then Vincent's vision shifted.
It was hard to describe, like looking into a pond that had suddenly had a rock dropped into it. Vincent's vision wavered and the scene before him changed from a battlefield, to his sister Mira holding his hands in hers... her very dainty hands.
“Oh... that's only a little disconcerting.”
“Vincent? The spell?” He heard Elaina's voice both in his ears and if he himself was saying it. Disconcerting did not begin to cover what he was feeling.
Disregarding that, he focused on Mira in his vision, and Pulled, muttering 'Translocate' as he did.
Mira, from where she was sitting in his vision, blinked out of existence, replaced with... himself.
“Wow... I look rougher than I thought.” Vincent watched his mouth move from his shared perspective with Elaina.
His vision snapped back to his own perspective, giving him his first real look at his fiance.

He was stunned. She was stunning, flowing golden hair reaching down to her waist, which itself lended to an hourglass shape, her white gown flowing down and emphasizing her shapely legs and amazing... assets.
Vincent forced his gaze up to her face, though the look she was giving him, a mischievous grin that she carefully covered with a false mask of concern.
A mask that rapidly became real as she took in the blood he was covered with. “Doctor! Doctor we need a doctor!” Elaina shouted, craning her neck to look around her.
At her exclamation, the pain that had been held at bay by adrenaline, terror, and not more than a little stubbornness hit Vincent all at once. The bruised, and possibl, broken bones form the fall, the bolt in his back, and a hundred minor aches and pains overwhelmed him, and he slumped forward.
The last thing he remembered was his face laying on something soft, and gentle hands brushing his hair back.

Serenity of the Crow
Fena can’t die. To most, this might be considered a blessing. To others, a curse. Fena doesn’t really care what other people call it: for her, it’s reality. She’s content to keep her head down while working for the Mercenary Guild, but a new contract arrives that threatens to drag her back to a past she wants nothing to do with. Haunted by her own thoughts and a crow that never seems to shut up, Fena is caught between confronting her past and preventing it from ever happening again. Indigo is alone. Her adopted mother is gone, and the witch that never gets her pronouns right is currently the most popular researcher at the Royal Academy. Worse still, she suddenly finds herself with shoes to fill that are so enormous they’re more like a swimming pool, while that same witch flaunts a research project that could get them all killed. With the expectations of her entire sect weighing on her like a lead weight, will Indigo sink or swim? Can she stop the White Witch’s project before it’s too late? Or will the twisted politics of the Royal Academy prove too much? This is my first published story, so hopefully it goes well!
