《The Immortals' Poison》Chapter 3: Escape and Home at Last

BANG! The cell door slammed shut.

Oliver, who was completely spent and still experiencing a deep, dull, throbbing pain, was totally incapable of any sort of movement and even his eyes were barely able to open as he watched oddly illuminated and oversized rats climbing and scurrying around the dark and damp confines of the cold and dark room he was currently occupying. As he laid there, with the poison coursing in purple lines across his body, he tried to piece his scrambled thoughts together.

How long have I been in this ‘God Realm’?

I wonder how my sister and Alfred are doing…

I wonder if they are worried about me…

I wonder if the Silver family is searching for me…

I wonder…

As he went on, pondering anything and everything as he tried to stay sane, he started to feel colder and colder, like something deep down was being frozen over.

I’m so cold… Must be that whatever that was at work… Damn it, why’d it have to be me?!?! He shouted mentally as he tried to punch the wall, only managing to painfully flail about a bit, since he was still too weak to even clench his fist.

Trying to accept what had happened wasn't a dream and find a way to escape, he started reliving the previous day, or what he could only assume was a day. There had been so much that had happened since he was kidnapped. He had been strapped to a table and tortured by a self-righteous prick, and then had been left there as pain that he couldn’t even begin to be described was constantly assailing his body, making him scream and beg for death, for release, for escape. But no one would grant his wish. As he had lain there on the table and all the gods had left to celebrate that bastard being ‘cured’, a strange figure had appeared and whispered something in a sad tone before waving a white glove covered hand and then vanishing mysteriously.

Did that actually happen? Oliver pondered to himself, still in disbelief, as he continued to contemplated everything that happened before he was thrown into this cell.

As the time ticked on, his only companions were waves of sudden excruciating torment, as the pain came and went. He was slowly losing his grip on reality, wasting away as he lost all sense of time. Also not helping him stay sane in this strange place, this dungeon cell, was the fact he felt as if someone was always watching him…

Yet most unbearable of all was how he couldn’t take the throbbing, pulsating, undulating feeling of his body as the poison coursed through him yet was forced to suffer, to survive on a thread. Something had to be keeping him alive in this strange god cell, he could only guess at what it was. Maybe a strong life support magic cast to prevent suicide by inmates?… Ironically he didn't even have the strength to kill a fly, let alone himself.

“MAKE IT STOP!!!!” He finally managed to scream, and to his surprise, an answer came shortly after.

“Oh we can’t have that yet little future sovereign. This suffering is necessary to bring about another Animus Sovereign.” A sickly sweet female voice replied.

“W-who is there?!?!” Oliver asked in shock.

Seeing Oliver’s surprise caused the voice to chuckle. “I am called Shirley by He Who Is Above All, you may also refer to me as such.”

He Who Is Above All?... What the hell is that for a title?... Sounds like another asshole like Helios… Oliver muttered silently.

Somehow reading his mind the voice exclaimed in rage. “I would hang you by your dick for that disgraceful thought towards The Animus One! However, I am under orders by Him to help you escape, regrettably...”

“Escape?” Oliver inquired eagerly despite his weak state.

“Yes.” Shirley sighed. “Escape… However, there i-”

Before she could continue Oliver interrupted her by finishing her sentence. “However there’s a price.”

Smiling delightedly at Oliver’s apparent understanding, or perhaps at the lack thereof, Shirley continued. “mhmm~ yup! Exactly. Though you don’t have to worry, Master doesn’t want your soul or anything, he just requests a tiny favor…”

Looking distrustfully at the air, because she still hadn’t shown herself, Oliver ventured forth with the question distressing him the most. “That tiny favor being?” he paused waiting for a reply which came shortly with a little giggle.

“That when you come back for Helios’ head, that you tell him first so he can come kick that bastard’s ass as well! Tehee~.” Shirley ended it with what could only be described as the most annoying little giggle ever.

Slowly a cold smirk grew on Oliver’s face as the thought of taking revenge sparked something deep within him, something that has never seen the light. “Heh, It. Would. Be. My. Pleasure.” He enunciated every word as he spoke.

A sound like a pair of delicate female hands clapping rang out as Shirley giggled again. “Hip hip hurray! We will be meeting again soon little sovereign~.”

As her crystal clear voice rang out for the last time, the cell started to shake. Much to Oliver’s alarm a murky black circle started to form around him and suck him down, down, down...

Earth, Oliver's P.o.v.

“Ouch!” Oliver cries out as he lands on the hard cement sidewalk.

Crying out more as a habit than as an actual pain response, after the excruciating hell he endured his pain tolerance had reach insane levels. barely summoning the strength to rub the shoulder that he landed on, Oliver glances around.

Yep, definitely home… he thought to himself as he glanced around, seeing the massive expanse of Goldmist City, the city he grew up in. With its lofty skyscrapers and the magnificent building stretching into the sky, creating perfectly geometrical shapes along the horizon, it looked like a beautiful metropolis, shining gold in the morning sunlight.

Looking up at the crowds walking back and forth, not noticing the crippled heir to the most powerful family just laying there, Oliver just brushed it off as a part of that witch Shirley’s, magic.

As Oliver laid there on the ground, too weak to move, a sudden familiar beeping caused him to want to shout for joy.
