《A Series Of School For Good And Evil One Shots》Black Swan Gold

It only took one question to decide the fate of the Woods.
Sophie was thinking, and looking out the window at the rising sun. If you could call it that. It was barely even a sun anymore. Soon her fairytale would have to end, once and for all.
She sighed, still staring out the window. She had to make a choice soon, and she still didn’t know what to choose, no matter how much she pretended she did.
Getting a sudden death wish, she called out, “Rafal!”
“Yes?” A voice asked from right behind her, and she jumped, startled. She turned around to see Rafal looking at her in amusement. He raised an eyebrow at her.
“Did I scare you?” he teased.
“No!” Sophie denied. “Not at all!”
Rafal grinned. “If you say so.” Sophie frowned and he rushed to continue. “What did you need?”
Sophie took a deep breath and steeled herself. “I just wanted to know… How exactly does the ring I wear keep you alive? And why exactly this ring? I mean, I know it’s black swan gold and all, and you needed it to get me to return to you, but why wouldn’t any other ring keep you alive as well?”
Rafal froze. Then he swallowed, and answered slowly, as if thinking his words over before he said them. “Do you remember, at the end of your first year here, when my brother killed me?” Sophie nodded and he went on. “And do you remember that he was able to turn into a white swan?” Sophie nodded again. “Well, I’m able to turn into a swan like him, except I turn into a black one. That ring is made from gold from myself.”
Sophie’s eyes widened. “But that means-”

“That ring is the key to my immortality. It’s a piece of my own soul. Destroy it, and you destroy me as well.”
Sophie stood completely still, as she just realized how much trust Rafal had put in her. And she had betrayed it before. How could he trust her so much now? She bit her lip, feeling a little overwhelmed.
“I trust you because you are like me, Sophie. I trust you because you’ve learned that loving anyone Good only destroys you, like I did with my brother. And because of that, I know you won’t betray me again, Sophie.”
Sophie frowned. “How did you know-”
Rafal laughed, the sound washing over Sophie like water. It was a beautiful sound. “Haven’t we been over this? I know how a Reader’s mind thinks. Also, I’m pretty sure that’s what anyone would be thinking if they were put in the same position as you, not just a Reader.”
Sophie glared at him, and crossed her arms.
“Not that that’s a bad thing,” Rafal said hurriedly. Sophie sighed and put her hand on his arm.
“I won’t betray you Rafal,’’ she vowed. “I promise it.”
Rafal smiled.

Sophie watched impassively as Rafal brought his axe down on Tedros and Agatha’s necks. Her own father’s corpse lay behind her, bleeding out.
She looked up at Rafal’s face, and saw him smiling, his whole face lit up like the rising sun. He walked toward her gracefully and swept her into his arms, kissing her passionately. She kissed him back just as hard, feeling her love for him overwhelm her.
Then Rafal pulled back and looked her in the eye. “For a moment there, I thought you were going to do it. But now I feel bad for doubting you.” There was no need to clarify the it he was talking about. They both knew what he meant.

Sophie cocked her head to the side, and said, “I did tell you I wouldn’t betray you.”
“Yes you did,” he agreed, still smiling. “Now how about we deal with the students that did betray us.”
Sophie smiled evilly. “That would be my pleasure.”
They turned to face the crowd behind them, with Sophie wondering what would have happened, had she not chosen what she did. Then she dismissed the thought. There was no use dwelling on what-ifs. For now, it was only the present that mattered.
And it was a present she was happy with.

Truck-kun Gets Sacrificed
Driscoll is my own version of a world with a game-like "system" of endless possibilities. MC has his own status, classes, skills, magic, and a living greatswordstaff in a world of monsters, demi-humans of all kinds, and even the supernatural. Sound good? Well, at first for Tru, it was a dream come true(I'm sorry). At least until reality hits him again and again. His quest from God is vague and must be discovered by him along the way. Hopefully, he can figure that out someday but for now, this new world's threats and his potential for power are motivation aplenty. With His new partner by his side, he's ready to embark on his mission of infinite sacrifice, however many lives it takes. The setting is pretty standard for fantasy, with my beginner attempts at writing. Litrpg elements are definitely involved here but It'll calm down as the story progresses and the world's foundation is laid. Judeo/Christian themes and principles take a major role and will be a backbone for much of the story. The fights will paint a picture in the mind rather than just be a bunch of number crunching. While he is meant to be a sacrifice to save all of Driscoll, he needs to gain enough power and influence to be a worthwhile sacrifice, or so he thinks. And so carnage will ensue as he avoids death as best he can while at the same time sacking himself for others. Truck Coon is your average determined, jiu-jitsu practitioner, tax associate that just started his new career. He dies to save kids from a semi-truck(Truck Coon got truck-kun'd, making him Truck-kun) and is transported to another world rather conventionally by God. Upon his arrival, he is quickly confronted with his first conflicts in the wild. Give it a shot and let me know what you think. Chapters are currently between 2300 and 4000 words and I try to post weekly, but also deal with severe limitations that cause late posts often. I have zero actual experience with writing stories and only recently started reading web novels in 2020. If you end up hating it, let me know your thoughts in a detailed comment or review, especially if you love it though :D I want to get better and welcome the feedback, so expect changes to be made with any flaws that y'all point out which I don't already have plans to address in future chapters. That being said, keep it constructive in nature, please. I have no Idea how the formatting and such will go, so if you like or dislike some techniques I try, give me that well-appreciated feedback! Thank you for reading.

World Servers - Dawn
The year is 2143, and much of the world’s population has been digitized for decades. Different servers are configured for different purposes. Some servers are pure gaming worlds. Others are offshoots of fringe political experimentation or regimes. Still others are based around ethnic or nationalist sentiment. Some replicate past times or past eras. And still others have been designed as totally imaginary locations created out of the dreams of programmers and the Artificial Intelligences that have been used to build and drive them. The gaming guild I Like Big Booty is a loosely affiliated group of friends and avid players. Theirs is an international guild which spans multiple servers, mostly running raids, ganking other players in PVP, and generally trying to build up the funds to purchase their own home world server. On one of the most populous servers – designed to resemble 20th century earth – a small raid team running a boring and routine run in Washington DC, comes across something that might change the fate of Virtual Reality across the solar system. Note: Per request, the title has been changed, though I might change it again when if I come up with something a little better.

A Ten Pound Bag
A serial saga with short chapters published each and every morning to read over your coffee or tea. This is a "versus life" story with no great evil to face just life in a hard place during a hard time. Our hero and his companions get catapulted back in time and must find a way to not only survive but prosper. This story is definitely "R" rated maybe even NC-17 but don't expect explosions, blood and orgasms at every page turn. Bad words and uncomfortable topics are addressed in this story, this is not for every reader. This is a technical story and develops slowly at first, full technical details, maps and research are available over on Patreon. I hope you enjoy this story as much as I am. -Emmeran
