《The Superhero Crafter》Chapter Four Part One WAR

I awoke to shouts. I pulled on a long coat and raced out of my room ran up the stairs and to the deck. I saw three men in skin-tight spandex like uniforms talking with the captain of the vessel. It was by the way they carried themselves, and the fear in the eyes of the crew of the fishing trawler, that I guessed them to be supers. I had no clue as to what their abilities were, and my abilities were subtle, so I doubted my ability to go toe to toe with the reason for the shouts.
Instead, I yelled, "who are you and what do you want on my ship?"
One of the men in spandex looked at me and walked over. He spoke Somalian. I was impressed. He didn't smell like fish though. Neither did I. The ship was cleaned out and refitted with the material I bought. I bought the ship for 1.3 million dollars and added over 800,000 dollars worth of tools and supplies to make over half a metric ton of robotic factory nanodevices. They were all controlled by my laptop.
The man who walked over answered with, "We are procurement specialists from Quazad Industries. We were sent to pick up a super, and I take it that super is you."
I told him, "I'm not going anywhere with you."
"Not even for one million dollars?" He asked me.
"Not even for a million dollars. I am safe out here in international waters." I said.
"I wouldn't count on that being true," he said and added, "there is no police here, no army to help you, no laws. It is just you and us."
"Are you threatening me?" I demanded.
"Why yes, yes I am. Now the question is what are you going to do about it?" he said.

That was a pretty good question, what was I gonna do about it? I doubted I could go toe to toe with three supers. Well, I thought, now is the time to see just how good I am. I cursed them with bad luck. Whatever they tried to do would fail. I did the opposite for me, I blessed each action I would take. The effect should only last a few minutes, but that would surely be all the time I needed.
One of the supers took off into the sky, but sneezed at the last second, pausing long enough for me to approach him. Another Pointed his fist at me just before I put the sneezing guy between me and the pointing guy. The last guy's eyes began to shine with a red light, creepy.
The guy who sneezed gave me just enough time to get to him and strike. The pointing guy had a bolt of green light come out shooting me. Bastard got me in the arm.
"There is no law here, you are on your own strength, and we are stronger," said the guy with the glowing eyes. He opened his mouth to say something else and a bug flew into his mouth choking him temporarily.
I ran as fast as I could and tackled the guy that shot green bolts of light out of his hand, and they hurt. There was a loud boom as I tackled him and he hit the handrail at great speed. There was a dent in the thick handrail. He should have been paste, but I could see the slight glow of a force field.
I needed to even out the odds. I grabbed the slightly glowing man and jumped overboard with him. I took a deep breath and went down. With all my strength I swam downward with him, but he was trying to fly upwards. I didn't let up though. It was nothing for me to hold my breath for a great deal longer than he could. He didn't have super health and will power. It took time, but he passed out.

After covering his mouth and nose with one hand, I surfaced and had him floating on his back. I then swam to the ship and hoisted myself to the main deck. It was there that something hit me in the back. I was down and in pain. I took out two coins and threw them as hard and as fast as I could. Both supers grunted as the coins went through them. I did not mean for that to happen, and in that time the pointer green bolt guy falls to the ground bleeding, and the red eyes guy did his red eye thing and I passed out.
I awoke to shouts. This was the second time, the first one didn't go very well. I opened my eyes to find that I was strapped to a table. My heart began racing. I began panting. I was not fond of being immobile.
"Someone was yelling, "Let me out of here! Now!"
Actually, there were several someones. They didn't stop. They were yelling in Somalian. I heard, "they won't stop."
I was not alone. I was being tied by glowing bands of steel. The voice said something else as I struggled with the glowing bands.
"You won't be able to break those bonds. You would need super strength on the second level to even have a chance to break them. You are held fast, my friend."
"Who are you and what do you want from me?" I demanded.
The man, a silver-haired business-suited individual said, "My name is Thomas Kane and I am the founder of Quazad Industries. We are a conglomerate interested in Super Science technologies."
"What do you want with me?" I asked.
"I want your nano mining techniques," he said.
"You can't have them, now let me go," I said.
"No, not until you give me the specifications on those nanites," he said.
I tried with everything I had to break the bonds. It was tough, very very tough, but I broke them. He paled and opened his mouth to scream for help, but I was there first. I had my hostage.

Beast
A threat to the galaxy has come from another, and the Union of intelligent life will go to any length to stop it. Military Quarantine has held for hundreds of thousands of cycles. Traders, merchants, colonists, and Pirates live risky lives along the fringes as the politics from the inner systems fail to see the larger threats beyond their borders. A lone human finds himself far from home with no memories to how he arrived. A failing Trade vessel plays on a desperate gamble, while a malicious parasite searches for a suitable host. ............................................. Author's note: Beast is a story that I wrote a long, long time ago. Some of you might have read it then, back when it was posted on reddit over at r/HFY. It was my first webfiction and made in the spirit of that subreddit's "genre" of humanity being awesome. But, it is also a story that has bothered me a little bit. Just like most new writers tend to do, I made mistakes and errors that feel painful to reread. A Space Opera will be a Space Opera, but I had prose that makes present-me cringe. Still, at the same time, the story is still very much a tale I've never given up on. It was my first adventure into fiction: Beast was a crazy adventure with bodysnatching aliens, galactic war, threats from across the universe... Posting this story here is a way to try and redeem myself a bit. I won't call it a complete rewrite, because it's not, but I have wanted to go through and correct some of the major issues Beast has for a long time and put it somewhere more accessible to read (instead of as posts/comments on reddit) and I figure that now is as good a time as any. Additional corrections you might notice are welcome.

Chains of Dominion
If Jake wins the local Fantasy Tactics Online tournament, he’ll have everything he’s ever dreamed of — a ticket out of town and the attention of a beautiful woman. However, this woman has more planned for him than a bus ride to the local metropolis. She teleports him back to her Realm and declares him her Master… and says it’s up to him to save the world. No pressure. Rival Dominions vie for power, and they are all far larger and more organized than Jake’s rag-tag group of women, but he has two advantages: the rules of this world are eerily similar to those of Fantasy Tactics Online, and his wildest dirtiest sexual fantasies act as a power multiplier for his all-female army. Warning: The heroes have intense tactical battles, wild kinky sex, and near-constant flirtation. The villains are disturbing and cruel. If the idea of villains doing bad things bothers you, please do not read books ever, but especially don’t read this one.

The Fall
Perhaps the most well known of all devils, demons, or fallen angels is the one known as Lucifer, Satan, the Father of Lies. The cultural influence of this figure throughout history is by no means small. Despite that, it wasn’t until the time of Milton’s classic – Paradise Lost – that we saw an attempt to portray a dramatized version of the events leading to this figure’s fall from grace and power. And while this is the case, Paradise Lost is not about Lucifer – though it goes into great detail about his potential musings. No, Paradise Lost was, and still is, about the fall of mankind. So, in light of this, and the feeling that the classical story deserved another telling, I present to you all The Fall – a story focused particularly on Lucifer’s fall from grace and his musings both before and after.
