《Lord of the skies》Chapter 4 - Hunting

He looked around and had a nostalgic feeling, it was almost as if he had been away for ages. But in truth, he knew from what Bàs told him, that it was only an instant.
He could feel the moisture on his skin, the bumps of the ground under his feet, and the wind blowing on his face, that refreshed not only his body but his mind as well. Things that didn’t exist on that mindscape.
He stopped for a moment and remembered that Bàs said in the end that he would receive a gift that now he was permitted to give. He thought ‘Status’ and the blue box floated in front of him.

Looking at his attributes, he saw that there was a big change to the physical attributes. All of them were upped by ten points each. The only attributes that remained the same were intelligence and wisdom. He supposed the change was caused by the skill electrical body. He concentrated on it and the spear mastery skill to know more about them.
Spear mastery
A skill that shows how proficient the user is with the use of a spear.
Electrical body
A skill that helps the user manipulate electricity.
The skills descriptions followed two different directions, not only because they were a weapon and body skill respectively, but mainly because the electrical body skill, stated that it helped the user manipulate de electricity. The skill itself looked like it had great potential, but if he remembered correctly, the skill was limited until its tier evolved, like he saw in the box that gave the introduction about the skills shop.
Seeing the skill, he tried to manipulate the energy to appear on his hand. Concentrating his mind he felt the energy flowing through and around him. It was an amazing feeling, it felt like his senses were extended out of his body.
An instant later he heard a sound “clack clack clack” from his hand. Looking at it, he could see some electricity flowing, it was very little, but at least it was something. He thought that right now it would not be useful in combat, but it had great potential.

He looked around and saw his makeshift spear on the ground. He lowered himself and picked it up. He felt its weight and height. Although it was an ugly and shabby spear. It was everything that he had at the moment.
He looked outside and saw that it was noon and the sun would set in a few hours. He went into the creek direction and readied his spear. He pointed it down and looked at the fishes that were calmly swimming through it. Waiting a moment, he prepared himself and stabbed it down. “Splash”.....
Thirty minutes later, Bryan was beside a bonfire and grating some fishes. They were smelling delicious. He was already salivating. The ambient was quiet and moist, the sound of the river flowing through the rocks was mesmerizing. It was a peace difficult to find.
“Tek”
Bryan heard a sound coming from the forest. He picked up the spear that was beside him and slowly got up while looking around, turning his body sideways to the forest direction, while hiding the spear behind him. looking at the shadows he saw a quadruped form lurking. Its form was huge, it had bulging muscles and huge claws. It slowly got up and began to come in his direction. Its hide was brown and was feline looking. The muscles looked like they were fine sculptured bronze.
The huge feline got out of the bushes and began to assume a position to pounce. Seeing this, Bryan readied his spear and waited. Cold sweat flowed through his back, there was a palpable tension in the air. He felt a bitter taste in his mouth. He sharpened his eyes and closed his hand tighter around the spear shaft.
On the moment the monster pounced, Bryan stepped back and threw his spear into it. The spear hit true at the monster's right eye and it was embedded deeply into it. The beast lost its foot and it slide on the ground until it stopped in front of him. Bryan lifted his right foot and stopped the beast movement.
He lowered down and took the spear out of the creature's eyes. Its blood was dark red, almost black. He shook the spear and shooked the blood from it.
After two hours. He finished skinning the creature. Its hide was tough as steel, to skin it he had to use the creature's teeth, The stone almost didn't do anything to its hide.

After finishing taking out its hide, he took out some pieces of flesh that were still in it and finally was over with his job. He then let the skin over a rock to dry. He finished eating his meal and made a new spear with one of the claws of the creature. It was suited for it.
Bryan looked at his status page and saw this.

It seemed that killing it had given him some points. “So, this is how points are earned.” he thought to himself. He browsed at the items store and saw that there were some spears in there, but the only one that suited his tastes cost 1200 points. And it was between the cheaper ones. It seemed that he had to kill plenty of monsters to truly have some buying power.
Having finished his business, he seated inside the cave and began to try to use his now electrical body skill.
He reached for the energy that was both inside and outside of him, but taking control of it was no easy feat. It felt almost as if he was trying to grab some water with his hands, and wanted to hold it there for a long time without letting it slip through his fingers. It felt almost impossible to fully control it…. After trying time and time again, the most that he could do was to let the electricity flow through his skin while clacking and making some noises. He felt energyzed like the electricity was making him more then he was.

Observing his status, he saw that the skill leveled up to level 2. Even though he could barely use it, he still had some improvement. The satisfaction of seeing the level rising gave him enough motivation to keeping testing his skill. After training for a few more hours. He saw that the skill level had risen to 6, 4 more entire levels. He was progressing quickly. After training so much, he felt exhausted. Using the skill took quite a toll on him. He laid on a corner and went to sleep.
He looked up while laying on a rooftop. He saw beautiful stars that were shining so brightly that it felt almost like daytime. He felt the cold wind blowing on his skin and moving his hair. A desire to close his eyes came to him, but before he could do so, he saw a star falling from the heavens. The calm and soothing dream quickly degenerated after that, letting the world be covered on fire.
He woke up with a quick breathing, he looked outside and saw that it was daytime already. He grabbed his spear and trotted out of the cave.
Bryan bent down and took a big gulp of cold water from the creek. He picked a smoked fish that was hanging on a branch above the now quenched bonfire, that was only emitting a small like of smoke. The fish didn't taste so great, but for now, it was all that he had. He went into the forest direction and passed through the pit in which he buried the monster's body and proceeded to hunt.
Yesterday, he was the hunted. But now, he would be the hunter. He sneaked through the dense leaves and bushes, looking at the ground and the trees, searching for marks that indicated that some creature had passed by here. After looking for 20 minutes, he finally found a fresh track.
Bryan slowly went forward and readied his spear. Laying on the shadows of some trees, he saw another hulking feline with its monstrous claws. This time, he didn't choose to throw the spear. But instead, he made a stance and quickly stabbed forward. The creature, while laying there, suddenly opened its eyes and seeing the attack coming, turned its head sideways, letting the spear leave a huge gash on its cheek and back.
“ROARRR”
The creature howled in pain and stood up. Bryan took a step back and looked at the creature's eyes. The pain was evident in them, but also its rage. Is slowly circled him, trying to finding an opportunity to attack.
After some time, the creature lost its patience and advanced, it attacked with its right paw. Bryan stepped aside and slashed with his spear. The creature flinched and turned trying to retaliate with its left paw. But Bryan jumped back and gave another attack, almost maiming its paw. The monster howled in pain. Bryan felt great pain in his heart hearing it, but new it was necessary.
He quickly finished the job after that. He looked at his point and saw that he earned 100 more points.
Points
200
He then proceeded to continue his hunting.
