《Luna》Chapter 3 - Apartment

Blood sprayed out of the guy's neck, splattering on to Luna's face and clothes. He crashed into the ground and shook violently. I heard him make a gurgling noise causing blood to jump up from his mouth.
"Don't touch Ryo." Luna towered over his body with a dark look on her face. I could see something gleam in her left hand but I heard a flicking noise and the light was gone. The sun had gone down completely and darkness was beginning to settle in.
"Y-you bitch!" Kaiji ran towards Luna, thrusting his knife forward. Luna stepped to her side, avoiding the blade. As he passed her, Luna reached out, grabbing tightly onto Kaiji's forearm. With her other hand, she pushed her palm into the back of Kaiji's upper arm, hard. The force of her push created a crackling noise as Kaiji's arm gave in, snapping into the opposite direction from the elbow.
She released her grip on Kaiji and he fell down to his knees, dropping his knife. For a second, he didn't seem to recognise the pain, staring dumbfoundedly at his broken arm, then suddenly he screamed, his face turning to horror. The other members of his group turned their backs and fled, sprinting as fast as they could.
Luna towered over Kaiji's kneeling figure like an executioner and his prey. She raised her hand up, preparing the killing stroke. That was when I woke up from my daze.
"L-Luna, stop!" I ran towards them, tackling Luna off her feet. Seeing this, Kaiji sprung up from his knees and made a break from the park, running as fast as his legs could take him.
I laid on top of Luna breathing heavily. Did that really just happen? I turned my head slowly and came eye to eye with the face of the guy that Luna had struck in the neck. He was motionless, his face stuck in a look of pure terror. I flinched, resisting the urge to throw up.
"He was going to hurt you, Ryo." Luna said in a muffled voice underneath me. "I had to do it."
"I-it's alright, Luna..." I said trying to sound soothing.
I pulled us both up from the ground. The front of Luna's shirt was covered in blood and it had seeped onto my own shirt as well. "We have to get out of here..." I said. "Let's go..."
The suburb I lived in was a quiet one and we managed to get back to my apartment without bumping into people because of the close distance to the park. I closed the door behind us and turned on the lights.
"Wait here..." I said in a daze. I walked into my room and came out with two sets of clothes. I had to get rid of our old clothes. I gave Luna one set of clothes. "Here. Clean up and change into this."

I pointed to the bathroom and she nodded coyly, colour returning to her face. I waited till she shut the door before I slumped into the kotatsu table. What was I doing? I felt lost. Would I also go to jail for helping Luna? I mean she did literally kill someone. I stared up at the ceiling and listened to the sound of the shower. I really didn't know what to do.
I heard my phone rang and I picked it up.
"Hello, Kyosuke residence." I said. I heard the shower turning off.
"Hey Ryo! It's me Eiji." The other line said.
"Oh, Eiji..." My mind was still stuck on the murder in the park.
"You haven't been picking up my calls, Ryo. Are you still upset about Luna rejecting you?" Eiji snickered.
I opened my mouth to answer when I heard Luna call out from the bathroom.
"Ryo, you didn't give me a towel."
My heart froze and I heard silence on Eiji's end.
"Uh… That was…" I didn't know what I was suppose to say. That Luna killed a man and was taking a shower at my house to clean up?
"Ryo," Luna cried. "I'm cold."
"H-holy shit. You actually managed to score with Luna?!" Eiji's voice was in complete disbelief. "You gotta tell me how you did it when we see each other."
"N-no, it's not like that-"
"Anyways, I will let you have your fun." Eiji laughed. "I still can't believe it though."
"Listen, Eiji?" I spoke into the phone, but the call had already ended.
"Are you mad at me, Ryo?" Luna sobbed from the washroom. "I'm sorry…"
"H-Huh? No!" I quickly grabbed a towel from my room and handed it to her through the door. "I was on the phone… sorry."
My heart was throbbing. Right behind this door, Luna was standing there completely naked. The thought made me light-headed. I wonder how she would look like without clothes- I shook my head, trying to retain focus.
"T-thank you..." Luna said. She took the towel and I closed the door.
I let out a sigh of relief and sat back down. What should I do with our old clothes? Burn it? I looked at the clock. It was getting pretty late. I hope Luna's parents wouldn't mind her coming home late- Shit. What would they think if they saw her coming home dressed in my clothes?
The door to the bathroom swung open and Luna stepped out, draining all of my attention. She looked incredibly cute in male clothing, despite the fact that it didn't fit her at all. The clothes hung loosely to her body, almost in a teasing way.

"Is something wrong?" Luna noticed my eyes staring at her and her face went red, glancing down at herself nervously.
"Nothing." I coughed, then I watched as she hobbled over to the kotatsu table, clutching onto the waistline of the pants that I gave her. I shook my head, trying to stop myself from staring, then I walked into the bathroom with my set of clothes to take my turn at cleaning up.
When I was done, Luna was sitting on the kotatsu table, quietly watching the television by herself. It was a calming sight and made me think about how it would be having Luna as a wife.
I grabbed some empty grocery bags from the kitchen and returned to the bathroom so that we could store our dirtied clothing. It was then that I realised that Luna's underwear were among the pile of clothing she had removed. If Luna's underwear were there... then it could only mean that she was... wearing nothing underneath.
The revelation swarmed my mind with unwanted thoughts, and I closed my eyes, hastily grabbing her clothes and shoving it in the grocery bags along with mine. I stepped out of the bathroom again, glancing at Luna.
"H-hey..." I started.
"Hm?" Luna continued watching the television with a fixed stare.
"By the way, I put all your clothing away." I waited for a response but there was none. "I was thinking that we should burn it."
"Good idea." Luna replied.
She didn't mention anything about her underwear so I pretended not to know as well.
"Anyways where do you live?" I asked putting the bags of clothes aside. "I'll take you home."
Luna glanced up at me, causing my heart to skip a beat. She was way too pretty.
"Can I stay for the night? My parents will be angry if I go home like this." She asked hesitantly. "They have work in the morning so it will be easier for me to sneak back in after that."
I didn't know how to answer her. This felt like a dream come true... except the circumstances were all messed up.
"I can sleep on the kotatsu table..." Luna added.
"S-sure." I stuttered. "No problem."
"I hope I'm not being a bother." Luna laughed weakly.
"Are you sure your parents won't mind?" I asked. "Isn't it a bit weird for a girl to sleep out alone."
"N-no, they won't." She replied hastily. "I'll tell them I'm sleeping at Akane's house. I will call them right now."
Akane was Luna's best friend at school. She was always around Luna.
Luna pulled a phone out of her pockets and started dialling numbers. I watched as she placed the phone to her ear and waited.
"Hello… mom?" She said. "Can you hear me?"
She paused. "Uh-huh, um... Mom, can I sleep at Akane's place tonight?"
Another pause. "Yes, we're just going to catch up on some study… just for tonight."
"It's just near Hibiya Park."
"Is that okay?"
I looked at the wall trying to pretend I'm not eavesdropping.
"Really? Are you sure you don't mind?" Luna said into the phone.
"Okay! Thanks so much! I love you mom. Bye!"
She pushed a button on the phone ending the call and looked up at me, excited. "She said it's okay."
"I guess it's okay then..." I said. I wanted to offer my bed to her so that she wouldn't have to sleep at the kotatsu table, but it would probably be weird for her to sleep in some guy's bed. I grabbed my phone off the table and stood up, heading to my bed, feeling unsure. I glanced backwards to see Luna smiling up at me.
"Goodnight Ryo." Luna waved a petite hand at me.
"Goodnight Luna." I stammered, feeling my heart skip a beat.
I turned away, heading inside my bedroom and closing the door behind me.
Luna was a normal girl after all. She just killed the man as self defence… I slid in my bed. It still didn't feel right. How did Luna move so fast? She slit the guy's throat so easily! Just remembering all the blood made me feel sick. I looked at my phone, then realised I had picked up Luna's phone by accident. I was about to get up and give the phone back when my finger slipped on the home button, unlocking the screen and showing a blank calls menu.
I froze. She had not called anyone the whole day. Then who was she on the phone with just then? She had not called her parents. Luna lied to me. I felt a sweat roll down my forehead. I went through her contacts to find her parent's number and instead saw my number there.
What the hell was going on? How did she get my number? I never told her my number... then something hit me.
I never told her where I lived.
The images of the fight started flashing in my mind. Luna slicing the guy's neck open- Hang on... Why the hell was Luna carrying a knife on her?
Suddenly I heard the door creaking open.
