《World 2.0(DROPPED)》Chapter 24: Experimentation(Part two)

I wake up due to Eros muttering to himself.
“Bloody pants… Just get on me”, Eros muttered, with a very irritated voice.
I open my eyes and see Eros trying to fit into a pair of pants. They look much finer than what he usually wears.
He sees me open my eyes, and stops trying to put the pants up.
“I'm just going for a walk, so you can just sleep for an hour or two more”, he said, with a grin.
I knew exactly what he meant. He has to have gotten his name from somewhere.
“Sure. Before you go, though. Where did you get the clothes?”, I asked him in a sleepy voice. While there wasn't any immediate problem in my clothing collection, if I had to go to a more fine celebration of some kind, It would be quite bad if I showed up with my normal clothes.
“I got it at a clothing shop. It was across the street from the magical goods shop, so I thought that I could just buy some clothes, while you were busy meditating”, he explained while trying to put the pants on.
He eventually succeeds and begins walking out of the room.
“If I'm not back in two hours, don't bother trying to find me”, he said, with a playful voice.
“Sure”, I answer, while yawning.
Maybe I should just stay in bed for some time. Maybe even go back to sleep. It's still dark outside, so I could sleep for a few more hours.
I tug myself back into my sleeping position and begin trying to sleep.
Five minutes later, and no success whatsoever.
Heh, that rhymes.
I had been trying to go to sleep, but nothing would work. I even contemplated removing my Psionic mutation and then inserting it in again, but I dismissed the idea quickly. Too sleepy for it to work completely.
I am too awake to go to sleep now, so let's just start the day right away.
Heh, that rhymes too. Maybe I should become a poet with these sick rhymes.
I slowly get out of bed and begin to put some clothes on.
As I was about to finish, I began thinking about what to do today.
See more of the city? No… Isn't a fun when you're doing it alone. Study the garden again? No… it must be cold outside right now. Study? Yup.
I walked over to the table, sat down, and pulled the Psionic book out of my bag.
The book itself was quite long. It looked to be about five hundred pages long.
Well… let's get to it.
And with that, I began digging in.
After reading the first ten pages, I came to a slight understanding.
While Psionic energy and Mana are different, they can each produce the same results. They just use different methods to get to those results. Psionics works within the physical laws. While they may bend them, they never break them. Mana doesn't work within those laws though. They work within laws of their own. Laws that they create themselves.
Even though Mana would sound overpowered, they seemed to almost always have the same cost. I didn't understand it, but I didn't question it.

After reading the introductory pages, I finally began reading the good stuff.
“To first be sure that you have any potential as a Psionic, you will learn a little technique. It so simple, so that even if you only have the slightest talent as a Psionic, you should be able to complete it. If you are a mage, this will be even easier.
Read carefully before trying.
See within yourself, and find your own pool of Psionic energy. Every person has this, so if you can't find it, you aren't trying hard enough. When you find the pool of your Psionic energy, engrave that image into yourself, so you can remember it with extreme clarity. Open your eyes again, and find something small that you would be fine with being a little burnt.
Stare at the object wide-eyed without blinking. Focus on the image of your Psionic pool. ´Will´ a portion of it to go away from the rest of your pool. Going forward, you will only be using that small part of your pool for the rest of this technique.
Concentrate the Psionic into a small sphere. Direct it right in front of you. Then fire it all off, as fast as you can, towards the object.
If the object did not move in any way, don't worry. Check the temperature, and see if it has risen.
If it has, then you have the potential to be a Psionic.
If it didn't, then you don't have the potential, and you should just stop reading this book.”
I read the page multiple times, thinking over every line deeply before moving on. While I had memorized the page from the first time I read it, I really wanted to be sure I did it right. Wouldn't want anything to go wrong.
After reading the page way too many times, I finally decided it was time to try it out.
I first began seeing inside myself.
The sight of it honestly surprised me.
When I had last looked within myself, there had been about thirteen pools. It seemed high to me before only knowing what one of the pools were. Now, though, there were hundreds, if not thousands, of pools silently floating around. Most of them were so small that you really had to look deeply to see them, while others were gigantic. There were three of those. One was my Mana Reserves. The other was my Life energy(Hel had told me about that one). The third was a mystery, though. I knew it wasn't Psionic energy, as I already had found it earlier. So, what was it?
No matter how much I stared at it, I couldn't figure it out, so I just gave up on it.
Another question for Glautru. I wonder how he is doing? Question for another time. Now, let's continue.
I began staring at the pool for Psionic energy. I memorize every part of it as best as I can, slowly engraving it into my consciousness.
After a few minutes of doing this, I become satisfied with the results.
Onwards to the next step!
I open my eyes and begin searching the room for anything I don't need. The search is kinda hard, as most of the things in the room isn't mine.

Because of that, I eventually decide to just use a silver coin.
I place the coin on the table and began the next step.
I find the image of the pool of Psionic energy, and take a small piece of it away from the rest.
I begin feeling a small pressure on my forehead, but I just ignore it.
I begin to concentrate it into a sphere while placing it in front of my eyes.
Time for the fun part!
I try to fire it off, imagining it going at Mach-One. I feel it instantly leaving my control, flying off towards the silver coin and...
The silver coin moved slightly. I touch it, and it's a little warm to the touch.
Succes!
While I had expected a little more, this was fine too.
I put the Psionic book back on the table, and begin reading again.
“Now that you're potential has been proven, we can begin explaining the basics. There are two different abilities…”
The old mage at the shop had already explained it to me, so I skipped a little forward.
“... But while Telepathy and Telekinesis are only two simple abilities, all other Psionic abilities build off these two. Telekinesis is the physical and Telepathy is the psychological. Some Psionics choose to focus on one of these abilities. While it gives them greater proficiency in one of them, it makes them unable to use most of the higher tier abilities.
One of these higher tier abilities could be the ability called ´Blades of Fear´. This ability makes force-blades that vibrate at a certain frequency that induces primal fear in all living being. While this normally wouldn't work on stronger beings, the Psionic also ´opens up´ the minds of all beings around him/her, making the fear blast through the beings mental defenses. With the beings unable to move through to the primal fear, the blades will move at extraordinary speeds, cutting everyone, and everything, to little pieces.
I hope this showcased the importance of focusing on both abilities equally. Moving onto...”
I stopped reading for a minute or two, so I could digest the new information. While I had been thinking, that I wanted to focus solely on Telepathy, this new information drastically changed my plans. The possibilities when you mixed these abilities together, the possibilities were almost endless.
That does it! I'm gonna focus on both!
I continued reading, being eager to learn more.
“... focusing your Psionic powers. Depending on how long your Psionic talents have been awakened, you may have begun noticing a few things. Some stray thoughts that you swore you didn't think yourself or maybe placing something on your bed table, and you waking up to find that it laid on the ground, shattered, in the other end of the room. Don't worry, you aren't insane. When you have any talent at being a Psionic, you need to learn to control. If you don't, your Psionic will occasionally lash out. To stop this you only need to learn a few things. Number one…”
The book then went on to explain the process of controlling your Psionic energy. It would occasionally lash out if it just sits around, so you simply had to constantly have it moving. The process of making it cycle around permanently was simple enough. You simply had to get it moving at the start, and it would, after a couple of minutes, begin to do it itself.
“Now we are getting to the good stuff. This part will make you learn to use the two basic abilities: Telepathy and Telekinesis. The first thing to remember is…”
I read the whole chapter, and after a couple times of rereading the chapter, I understood the two key factors when casting the abilities.
Imagery and power.
The imagery behind casting the two basic abilities are basic. With Telekinesis you have to imagine the object being moving without being pushed, and with Telepathy you had to imagine yourself talking to a specific person without using sound. Simple.
Better Imagery also the decreased the power necessary for the ability to work.
Let the testing commence!
I didn't have anybody to test Telepathy with, so I decided to just try out Telekinesis.
I put the silver coin, that I had used earlier, in front of me. It seemed perfect for this, as it was small, and I wouldn't be too mad if I lost it.
I began focusing on the image of the silver coin slowly rising up in the air.
The silver coin did precisely what I imagined it would. It rose about ten centimeters in the air before stopping.
Because of me being so amazed by it actually working, I got distracted, and it stopped working.
The silver coin felt down onto the table with a thud.
I silently pouted. It seemed that I would have to learn to multitask, or I would have to use my complete focus when doing this.
Well… Another try can't hurt.
I began imaging the silver coin beginning to levitate again. It worked, and I didn't lose focus this time.
But, before I began doing anything complex, I levitated the silver coin up to twenty centimeters. I then began to slowly flip the coin, make it go to the side, and go up and down. I could easily do this one at a time, but doing more than one became much more difficult.
After a while of experimenting with levitating the silver coin around the room, a headache began forming. I immediately stopped and looked within.
As I thought.
The pool of Psionic energy had diminished quite a bit. While I was worried about it decreasing, I began to notice it slowly grow to its initial size.
Let's see how long it will take.
Fifty-five minutes later and the pool had stopped growing. It had returned to its original state.
While I had hoped that the pool would have continued to grow larger, it didn't seem to.
What to do now?
I look out the window and see that the sun is shining.
How long have I been doing this?
My stomach growled.
Too long. Maybe-
You hear a knock on the door.
Who could that be?
