《World 2.0(DROPPED)》Chapter 1: A walk in the woods

The wild beast holding me down was seriously a tough son of a bitch. No matter what I tried to hurt it, the beast would just shrug it off like it was nothing. I tried hitting it with a rock, but it just ignored it. I tried to poke its eyes out with a stick, but could not even get close to the eyes, with its head always trying to bite my face off. Even bloody tried to kick it in the balls, but, again, as I said it was a tough son of a bitch.
Why don't you just die!, was something I really wanted to scream in its face. But, I knew that if I did, I would just attract more of them. One was enough for me.
How the hell did I even get here?
Slowly walking through the woods on my favorite moss-veiled trail, I looked around with a reminiscent smile. It was wet outside, but I could live with that. I used to do it a lot when I was a kid. But, because of my damn job I did not have the time for it.
Won't be a problem anymore, I thought, while quietly sighing to myself.
Yesterday I had been fired from my job. It wasn't all that bad, but there was just one problem with it. I would have rent to pay tomorrow, meaning, I had one day to acquire a whole month of rent money. AKA doing the impossible.
They should have given me the paycheck but decided to be dicks about. No money for almost a whole month of work, just for sleeping with some woman I barely knew.
I knew it was impossible, and that's why I was out here. Everybody needed somewhere to sleep, and, not to brag, but when I was little, I would sleep in this forest once a week as a minimum. That was fun.
“Why not sleep in the streets?”, you may ask, but that simply won't do. I would get robbed in under an hour by thugs, and, while I would be homeless, I still had some expensive stuff to take care of.
It was in the middle of the summer so there was quite the wildlife out here. Looking around I try to memorize every single detail of it all. The forest was a nut-brown. The grass was slightly crispy under my feet, and when I looked up, the trees seemed as tall as skyscrapers. I could hear a Hare scampering away from me up ahead. The sun was shining brightly, but the cover of the trees dimmed it quite a bit. The peace of the forest was calming in a special way. With the forests, fresh and organic smell, you could almost forget every worry in your mind. While it wasnt perfect, it was better than nothing at all.

Hey look, over there is a deer. No, wait, there's two of them! I wonder if they are a coup-, As I was trying to finish that thought, I had stepped on a rock, and was currently falling down the hill at a rapidly increasing speed.
“OW, OW, OW, OW, OW, ”, I screamed while falling down the hill with a nervously increasing speed. While I would have screamed a lot more, I was rudely knocked unconscious by something hitting the back of my head.
Waking up at least a few hours later, I feel my pulse pulsing in my head. I had a huge freaking headache, so big that I could figuratively hear the dunking sound of a frying pan hitting me in the back of my head.
Finally, I made myself open my eyes. It seemed like I was still in the forest, but when I looked around but could not recognize any landmarks, so I decided to begin walking north, as that was where I came from.
Now, how do you know which way north is in the middle of the night? Oh yeah, isn't it something like looking at the moon?
I looked up at the sky. Then immediately became confused.
Why is the moon blue? Do I have a concussion? I mean, I do have a headache.
In the sky was not the natural gray moon you normally see, but an unnatural deep blue moon. That was not a normal thing.
Is this a different world? Yeah, must be. It's either that or I have some serious brain damage. I should probably just go with the former. But how did this even happen? Did I fall through a portal or something?
I waved my hands around in search of a portal, but couldn't find anything.
Okay, assuming this is real, that means I am stranded here. But is it really that bad? I mean, I don't have anything back home holding me back. Parents are dead and no notable friends. Maybe I should just see where this takes me. Maybe me losing my job was actually a good thing.
Having made up my mind, I got on my foot and looked around to see if there was civilization nearby.
If there isn't any civilization nearby, I will need to find or make, some form of shelter.
About 4 kilometers east of here, I could see some light, not the forest fire kind of light, but the city kind light.
I then began walking slowly through the forest towards the city.

This is going to be a pain in the ass, I thought, and it was going to be one. There was nobody cutting down the trees in this area, so everything on the ground was filled with wood or plant growth.
I walked through the forest floor, slowly forcing my way through. There wasn't any kind of trial, and it didn't seem that many creatures walked on the ground often.
Suddenly, I felt a chill down my back.
Is somebody following me?, I thought, but no, that would not make sense. Nobody knew I was here.
“Growl”
I heard a growl behind me. Because of that, I was sure that the thing that was following me was not human. I look around, but it was hard to see in the dark.
Then I saw it. I could not see its body, but I could see its eyes. It's yellow glowing eyes. They were staring at me from approximately 15 meters away. It sees me looking at it, and gets into action.
It ran and jumped at me, but I leaped to the side at the last second. It did not miss a beat, and when it landed, it bounded after me at breakneck speed. I knew I could not outrun it, so I had to immobilize it. I picked up a rock and prepared to throw it, but it had already cleared the distance. It jumped at me claws widening to tear me to pieces. It even opened its mouth so it could tear my face up.
SHIT, SHIT, SHIT, SHIT, I shouted in my mind, being in a panicked state.
Panicked as I was, I had the great idea to put my arms up, bracing for the impact.
The beast landed on top of me, ready to finish its plan in killing me. There was one little problem with its plan though. It couldn't go in for the attack.
I was using both hands to hold its head in place while using my elbows to hold the paws with claws in place. This was not the best circumstance to be in. The beast could not attack me, and I could not run away from it. Very soon I would be in big trouble because I could not hold it forever.
I began to start attacking it to see if I could incapacitate it.
Oh yeah, that's how I got here, I thought as I was lying on the ground with a wild beast, trying to attack me, on my back.
“ROAR!”
The beast got into frenzy mode and tried much harder to end my life.
SHIT, SHIT, SHIT, SHIT, I shouted in my mind, being in a panicked state again. I should have known my idea would not hold up.
I, with all my might, threw the beast off me.
I did not go that far back. Maybe a few meters. It looked at me for a second, with disbelief. It didn't expect me to fight back.
It lunged after me again.
Suddenly I began feeling something in my chest. Something was getting hotter and hotter. Something was getting awakened. Something primal.
The beast stopped its attack and stared at me with curiosity. It had obviously not seen something like this before.
The primal in me had awakened, and I was bursting with energy. The energy needed somewhere to go, or something really bad would happen. I don't know how I knew that, but I trusted myself enough.
I took my hand up and pointed it at the beast. Trying my damn hardest to direct the primal energy at the wild beast. The energy wanted to know what to do with itself, and I gave it a single command.
Kill it. Drain it of its life.
The energy obeyed as best as it could and sent a blast of something at the beast.
The beast narrowly dodged the blast and focused on me. Before I was a plaything. Now, though, it saw me as a threat. A threat that needed to be exterminated.
I wanted to run, but I began feeling an overwhelming surge of tiredness, making me struggle to even stay conscious. I wanted to do something, anything, but my body would not obey me.
Right as the beast was about to kill me, It got an arrow through the head, killing it instantly.
Seems I'm not the only one out here, I thought, still fighting to not fall asleep. My savior was running over to me seemingly in a slightly panicked state. I wonder why.
He was opening and closing his mouth, seemingly saying words, but I could not hear a thing.
I was already asleep, and well on my way to dreamland.

In The Maw Of The Gods
Synopsis Lilly Harper was always the type to keep to herself. She struggled to make friendships and so, she simply opted not to. That was why moving to the coastal town of Wilham didn’t bother her. She wasn’t leaving anybody behind and she certainly didn’t expect to be making any friends any time soon. However, when she starts hearing about the school’s “Magic Club”—a group of weirdos who claim that magic is real, she can’t deny that she’s slightly intrigued. Then without warning, she suddenly finds herself wrapped up with them. And what if they aren’t crazy? What if magic is actually real? And what if it’s because of that magic that something more powerful than they could ever conceive of is drawn to Wilham? I plan to follow a release schedule of Tuesday/Friday. Average chapter length will be 4,000 to 6,000 words and I will be using multiple POV's quite often. Also to note, while I am flagging the story with content warnings, I am only doing so because there are specific moments where it will be needed. Overall, the story will be relatively tame and I plan to put extra warnings at the beginning of chapters that it applies to. Thank you to everybody who decides to give my story a chance and I hope you enjoy it!
