《Alfegenia-Inline》Chapter 13: Sinon of the End...
Earth was a scary place for one Asada Shino, or Sinon... Ever since that day, the day that she became branded as a ‘murderer’ at the age of 11, killing that thief with ‘that’ gun; Type 54-Heixing, her world was in ruins...
Not that she was living the princess life most her age had the privilege to enjoy until then by any means... No, quite the opposite actually, some might even argue that she was literally living an ‘adult’s life’.
When Sinon was only less than two years old, she was unfortunately involved in a car accident. By the time help came, it had already been six hours. During the six hours, her father slowly died from internal bleeding while her mother just watched her husband dying ever so slowly right in front of her very eyes, which not surprisingly traumatized her, not long after, becoming physically and psychologically very frail. This resulted in Shino becoming very overprotective of her mother, looking after her when in fact, it was Sinon that needed to be looked after...
Life was not without it’s fair share of irony it seems as nine years later, this time it was Shino who was traumatized after she attempted to protect her stupified mother during a robbery at a postal office, and ended up killing the robber with his own gun.
As a result, she developed an intense fear of guns and a slight fear of men. She also was bullied up until high school since then because of such a past. Not only had she been discriminated against by her peers and seen the worst of humanity at such young age, she also was haunted by the guilt of taking another’s life, no need mentioning the severity of the trauma a young girl such as herself must have suffered whereas even an adult wouldn’t have fared much better if they were in her shoes.
So she had been haunted by her past, reliving her worst memories over and over again all the while not a single person that she had in her life was of even the slightest of help...
No one, not until one day when her ‘only’ friend, a male classmate from her high school, Shinkawa Kyouji introduced her to a new world, Gun Gale Online which she would be forever thankful for, even forgiving him after all the terrible things that he had done... Visiting him in prison every month, helping him cope if only a little to get through his harsh life...
She was thankful for him not because he had introduced her to the game of GGO which made her stronger in real life, no, it was thanks to him that she was able to meet that man... Kirito... The only man who could make her loose her cool like it was a walk in the park, the only one that she wanted to beat oh so fiercely and, the only man she had fallen in love...
Just being near ‘him’ was enough to completely eliminate all those hallucinations and nightmares that she had been regularly having since that day... As long as she was by Kirito’s side, she was the strongest in the world, nobody could stop her...
So imagine her world crumbling down on her when she learned directly from a crying Asuna that he didn’t have much left to live... To even think that the her until then was at her most miserable when thinking of Kirito with Asuna... How could that Sinon believe the day would come that she would give almost her everything just to see a healthy Kirito again, living happily together with ‘his’ Asuna along with their ‘virtual’ daughter...
Even if she had no future with Kirito, she would have been okay with just being near him, watching him, getting stronger together with every challenge that they face, having fun together as a group... But it was not to be, for Kirito was leaving them... Not only had he only a few years left to live, he also isolated himself with Asuna, keeping his interactions with the others at the bare minimum...

Sinon of course was furious at first. How could that man just ignore his friends so easily? Not just her, Lizbeth, Silica, Agil and Klein, he even avoided his own sister, Leafa, who had become her best friend as of lately in some sense. Even though they now were of the ‘same’ race as Leafa and participating in quests together, Kirito still avoided her...
It was frustrating for the ‘sniper’, but thanks to Agil, she had somewhat understood why Kirito was going to such lengths to avoid them... He must have felt burdened of being the ‘cause’ of our sadness... The only way he knew how to handle such a thing must have been to go ‘solo’ just like he once did in SAO. Avoiding everyone dear to him, apart from his ‘life partner’ Asuna... Asuna and Yui must be the only one he felt the most comfortable... Even though this thought brought pain to her, knowing Kirito was dying was even more so...
So she decided to do what she can do... Keeping her time in VR minimum, studying hard for exams, getting into a good college, studying medicine, even thinking of majoring in cancer...
But Kirito’s health was getting worse and worse as the months went by and she had lost much valuable time asisting Asuna in hacking ‘that’ facility, which resulted in failure, with them loosing Yui in the process...
Sinon just couldn’t take it anymore after that... The worst thing about traumas are they are never completely healed... They can seem as if they are, but one day when you hit your deepest spot, they might just appear out of nowhere to swallow you as whole again...
So eventually her nightmares had returned more vivid then ever and she found herself hallucinating in more occasions than she could count with her fingers in just the past month alone...
Seeing her mental breakdown brought pain to her already miserable friends, so one day, her closest friend Suguha tactfully proposed for them to let off some steam. Then together, they decided to do a dungeon raid with the others, apart from Kirito and Asuna as only god knows where they must be...
Which was actually how they were in the Leprechaun Territory inside a dungeon when the ‘Transition’ occurred...
The sun was about to set as a group of faeries passed by the sentinels guarding the west entrance of the now Capital City of Allne. The group was none other than the Intercepting Squad sent by Lady Sakuya to make contact and if necessary, purge the locals if they proved to be a potential enemy...
From the entrance, the city looked simply beautiful, as if right out of fairytales and to their right, there in it’s pristine form stood the Lake of Andrun which surrounded the outermost city walls of the city from the west entrance all the way to the south entrance of the city...
The group was captivated by the view of the reflected red rays of the setting sun on the surface of the lake as they entered the city.
“Come on! There’s no time to waste! We have to give our report to Sakuya-sama!” Well, as a matter of fact, not all in the group had the luxury to relax and take in the view of the city as they were just too worried about their missing loved ones... Leafa, Sinon, Klein, Silica and Lisbeth were among the worried bunch who were praying to whatever god out there that Kirito and Asuna would be here with them...
But Leafa’s demanding attitude only worked to further irritate some of her aides as they really had enough, they didn’t sign up for this... To have to put up with ‘this’ girl’s tantrum even though they too have lost their old lives... So one of the girls proposed,

“Then why don’t you go on ahead then, Leafa-sama? We’re not as ‘powerful’ and ‘fast’ as you so we would only slow you down.” The others nodded at this as the girl went on, letting out a sweet ‘smile’, “I’m sure your brother is there waiting for you with open arms...”
The naive girl couldn’t read into her aide’s sarcasm as she thankfully said,
“Sorry then I will excuse myself...” Saying her words, the sylph commander then went full speed ahead to their base.
[Hahaha, I would have very much liked to see your face when your onii-chan was not there, but I have to report to ‘my’ Lord as soon as possible. To have to deal with children like you... Tsch, just because you’re a little bit strong, you thought that you can be our leader? If only Sakuya-sama didn’t favor you as much, I would have already been her second-in-command and gotten rid of you long ago...]
While all this was happening, only the blue Cait Sith in their group noticed that something was wrong,
“Ayashii... I better follow her.”

MAGIC
~WIND~Wind Needles: 5MP
Ek skýt tuttugu smár striða.
After the incantation is completed, twenty small, shining, emerald needles are fired from the fingertips of the caster’s stretched out hand. Although the needles do not home in on their target, their large quantity makes it hard for the target to dodge them all.
~WIND~Thunder Web: 5MP
sanda venarí moché, strigæs.
A spell that sends sparks throughout the target's body, sealing their movement.
~WIND~Concealment: 10MP+(1MP per 10 seconds)
Þik sér óvíss grœnn lopt.
A wind-attribute spell that creates an invisible green membrane over the caster and close allies, hiding them from the sight of monsters and other players. As soon as the incantation is complete, a light green atmosphere emerges from beneath the caster's feet and slowly covers the hiding place of the caster with a green membrane that takes the appearance of the surrounding environment. For example, a fake wall can be created in a cave, thus allowing the caster to blend in with the environment. On the casting side, touching this projection softly will make it ripple. The spell only prevents a user from being seen, but not from being heard, therefore speaking louder than a whisper or moving through this projection will cause it to fade away. The spell will periodically drain a large amount of mana when in use. This hiding spell, like other hiding spells, can be penetrated by an enemy with a high-level «Scan» ability (such as a Searcher) or a penetration spell.
~WIND~Fenrir Storm
Ulfr innan lysta menntr, brjóta mannliga ofríki.
Charges a players weapon with a bolt of green penetrating lightning which can later be fired at a target. While charged, lightning appears to scintillate across the weapons surface.
~Wind~Basic Heal: 5MP
Single-target version:
Þú fylla gullin öl, helgask allr eitrið, rísa folk.
Multi-target version:
Þeír fylla gullin öl, helgask allr eitrið, rísa folk.
More of a curing spell than a healing one... Uses nature magic to speed up the treatment.

MAGIC
~PRIMORDIAL~Monster Taming
????
~PRIMORDIAL~Retrieve Arrow: 5MP
Ek skýt aftur ör
A low-level, bow-user exclusive spell which allows the archer to attach a magic thread to an arrow which allows it to pull something that cannot be reached by hand, if the arrow successfully hits the target. The downside of this is that the thread distorts the trajectory of the arrow, lowering the arrow's homing value to zero. Once the incantation is completed, the caster's arrow is wrapped in a white light. Such an arrow leaves behind a silvery thread, which can then be used to pull the arrow back, along with anything that the arrow hit. The spell is convenient for pulling something out of reach, but it is only used for short distances, as the thread attached to the arrow distorts its trajectory.
~PRIMORDIAL~Enhanced Body: 20MP
Ek reiðr gripr
Right after chanting the spell, an orange light encapsulates the user’s body causing ‘enhanced body’ status effect for the duration of an hour. Strength ++ Agility++ Defense+ Stamina+
~PRIMORDIAL~Berserker: 35MP

Right after chanting the spell, a red light encapsulates the user’s body causing the ‘berserk’ status effect for the duration of ten minutes. Strength ++++ Agility+++ Defense+++ Stamina++ Intelligence- - - Dexterity- -

MAGIC
~FIRE~Fire Ball 5MP
Ek verpa einn brandr muspilli, kalla bresta bani, steypa lundr drótt.
Launches a ball of fire that deals fire damage. After the incantation is complete, the caster's extended appendage, whether it be one's staff or hand, projects a large fireball at the target, dealing fire-element damage to any enemy within its area of effect and creating a rather large explosion.
~FIRE~Fire Spear: 10MP
Ek fleygja þrír geirr muspilli.
A spell which creates three vicious, fast moving lines of fire projected away from the caster. After the incantation is completed, three rays of fire are fired consecutively from the caster's hands and continue travelling in a straight line.

Palus Somni (‘Marsh of Sleep’) is a worldbuilding webnovel about what happens when your God forsakes you. Inspired by gothic horror and mingled with British myth and folklore, join the Alucinari nuns as they struggle with day-to-day life after the world has ended. Every night when the sun sets the monstrous Gol, colossal beings with too many teeth, awaken and roam the marshlands. Only those with a faithful heart will be spared. Young acolyte Wille has never seen the walls fail, but when a fellow nun is murdered within their sanctum the very safety of the monastery is thrown into question. Did the Gol find a way to breach their defences, or is there a human traitor amongst them? The answer lies both far in the past and deep beneath the earth, through the maze of ancient catacombs. With a cast of over thirty different characters, watch as your friends and enemies spiral into inevitable madness at the hands of a callous and unforgiving world. Discover the secrets of Palus Somni through letters, diary entries and notes found scattered across the monastery. Uncover the mystery of the grotesque giants that stalk the night and bring your challenge to the Gods themselves. Each character has their own handmade pixel art, and every update includes a music recommendation for a dark atmospheric dungeon synth album that you can listen to while you read. Slice of life meets cosmic abomination: Palus Somni is a collection of intertwining stories, some chapters are stand-alone tales while others feed into the overarching narrative. It is an exploration into a community, and rather than focusing on any one character the story meanders through the convent, exposing the hopes and fears of its inhabitants. Story updates every full moon.

The Desecrator's Tomb - A Numbers Lit-aRPG
A man appears in a dungeon full of undead. He tries to leave. This is my attempt at writing a litrpg where the system is more formalized. This means that there will be a fair amount of min-maxing and we will hopefully be able to calculate the dps of every ability by the time I am done. Expect math. The main character will become a Drain Tank. This story uses an aRPG item and stat system. Oh and one last thing. Beware the penguins. update 1/8/22: I am trying to simulate things as faithfully as is reasonable. As of chapter 17 there are animated gifs depicting Chilly's life throughout encounters. update 1/11/22: Kreksyte drew me a cover! All hail our artist overlords! update 5/25/22: Going on hiatus for a bit. The second arc is complete. Will come back for the 3rd and final arc soon. update 7/15/22: ayy...I've returned. Starting the third and final arc. [was once a participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Nobody's Way
Foreign Thorn: Book 1 For eight centuries, the people of Isla have wanted for nothing. The Creator, Maere, uses Her power not only to keep them healthy and fed, but also to map the direction of each person's future Path - their vocation, role in society, and even the partner they'll spend their life with. In a world where infighting once threatened the very survival of humankind, the old texts say that Maere personally stepped in to help guide Her creations to harmony. All is not well among the people of the northern lands, however, as Jian discovers when she receives her own long-awaited Path. The Creator has chosen to favour some towns, but not others, leading to anarchy and unrest in the east, and fierce distrust between the neighbours who enjoy Her protection and those who don't. After many nights of disturbing premonitions, visions of a face uncannily familiar to her, and a voice beckoning her to "Homeland," Jian decides she needs to find answers for herself. She hires Madrigal, a surly young traveller hailing from an "unblessed" village, to take her to the southern lands. The swordsman is on the run from something, or someone, but Jian has no choice but to trust him. When the two leave the safety of the familiar and meet Quinn, a mysterious boy who seems to know more about Jian than she does about herself, it becomes clear that there are forces besides the old magics, forces completely unknown to the people of Isla, in play.
