《The First Rabbit Dungeon》Chapter 1 - The Voice

"As new born dungeon crystal that has now absorbed enough mana naturally you will now get a introduction to the world and what you are able to do as a dungeon crystal." Says the voice that seems to have no indication to stop and listen to my cries for help.
"Hold on there for just a second! I am a human, NOT a dungeon crystal! Also what are you talking about when you say the world of Terra? I am from Earth. Okay, sure, Earth and Terra both mean dirt or ground, but I don't believe anyone would call Earth, Terra in this day and age." Randomly asking questions to try and get a response.
"Dungeon Crystals are beings of pure mana. They are formed for reasons that no one has figured out yet. The only thing that people have figured out is that they can appear randomly, anywhere." Seeing as how my questions aren't getting answered. I should just sit back, or I guess just stay here and wait for her to finish.
The reason I say 'her' when referring to the voice that is talking, is she does sound like a girl.
If I had to put her voice to a face or person, it would sound like Siri from that one popular phone company. Except instead of it sounding robotic, it sounds like a real person.
It is only robotic sounding in the way that she is talking though. The way that she is talking and ignoring me is kind of like how Siri talks. It just sounds like a script and not a actual conversation.
"With them being made out of pure mana, they get some abilities that nothing else has." The voice continues on with a care in the world.
"These abilities are the reason as to why dungeons are one of the most liked and hated creatures in the world. For the smarter races out there, dungeons are places to train and grow stronger, while at the same time gaining resources to help them out during their lives." Stop talking please. Just for a few minutes. That is all I am asking.
Well that and the answer to the question. "How did I become a dungeon crystal?!" With so much information getting pumped into my head I can't focus at all. And can only focus on a few questions at a time, or else I would be asking a lot more.
After a brief pause from the voice she starts back up again. And all I am going to say is that the pause was not long enough."At the same time of dungeons being rewarding places, they are also places with lots of dangers. And it is your job to make these dangers appear. Now you are probably wondering how and why do I make these dangers?"
At this point I am not, but I think you are going to tell me anyways. So I am just not going to say anything. This will most likely be helpful information in the future if the voice can't fix this race mix up, however it happened.
I am pretty sure I didn't die. The only thing that could have cause me to die last night was...Oh god. Could that have really happened?!
Then before I could stay longer on that train of thought, the voice kicked me off of it by talking again."While the smarter races of this world like to enter dungeons to get stronger, there will be some that want to take the dungeon crystal for their own reason."

Another small pause, the voice talks some more. "To prevent this from happening you will have to make mazes, traps and even get your own loyal monster minions that will protect you with their lives. All of these things will be dangerous to the people that enter your dungeon to a certain extent."
Again, just wait a second. Aren't dungeons just a term coined for places where a bunch of monsters live?
The dungeons that I know of, from video games mind you, are natural cave systems, old ruins, certain open areas, etc. Where monsters have built a nest, den, whatever, and are ruining the area around it.
Not a place where a single person or crystal in this case, makes a place for a bunch of monsters to live. With powers to make a entire cave system, and be able to create life, if it is one of their powers, most likely if I am guessing.
If I am not able to make my own minions, then it is going to be hard to get started. And dying from them will be a real possibility.
Just for the fun of so I can try and keep calm. I start to think of the possibilities of what a dungeon made by me could look like. I will have a bunch of goblins, orcs, or some other humanoid monster running around a crazy big, multi-floored maze that constantly changes.
Got to have humanoid monsters and not just beast monsters. Cause if there is humans or some other race like them in this world, then they will most likely have weapons. And when there is weapons being made, there will also be metal like iron or steel being made.
Then those weapons alone could make even the weakest goblin at least be able to fight a regular human.
Though I doubt there to be regular humans when that voice talked about monsters and mana. A man turned dungeon can dream can't he?! I am taking this being a dungeon thing quite good so far, but that is probably because I haven't had the time to think about it yet.
"The way to make rooms that will be filled with monsters that will protect you, all you need to do is focus on a spot and think about removing the dirt or stone that is there. Once you get good at this you can even add dirt and stuff in your dungeon." Well that seems simple enough.
"Now, how to get monsters in your dungeon. The main way that you will be getting monsters is by spawning them yourself. All you have to do is think about that particular monster and then he will appear. This will cost a lot more mana then removing the ground around you, so be warned." So I can just make monsters minions. Man I am glad that I don't have to wait for monsters to come into my dungeon.
All I have to do now is get some monsters. I wonder if I can just think of any monster and have them appear in front of me. That means if I want to make a human, I will just need enough mana. Or will I only be able to make monsters that I have seen already?
My version of a goblin could be different then what this world's goblins are. There might not even be goblins in this world to begin with. I would really like to know this information.
"More ways that you can get monsters is by upgrading the current ones that you have. By using the mana pools of the monster you are upgrading, you are able to change their physical abilities to a certain extent. And to a lesser degree their mental abilities, which is another way of saying how smart they are. How far you are able to change these things depends on how much mana is in each monster's mana core." Well that is cool.

I wonder if all monsters are able to use their mana to make magic happen since it pretty much said that all monsters have mana cores.
"Then the least common method of getting monsters is monsters giving up their rights as a free monster, and allowing whatever dungeon they are at to have full control over them. Well not full control, they can still act on their own, but they cannot do actions that are knowingly hurting the dungeon. Directly or indirectly." Wow, that is also cool.
That will hopefully be something that I can aim for in the future. Having people loyal to me will always be nice.
"So in conclusion, use any method you can to get everyone in your dungeon so you can get their mana, while making it so they aren't able to get to you. You can do this by offering rewards for things killing your monsters, or for reaching certain points. Do whatever you want." This voice likes to say stuff that I pretty much already know.
Why wouldn't I give rewards to the people that enter my dungeon? That is the best way to get people to come back so I can get their mana somehow. I just hope that I don't have to kill people, because that just does not sit well with me.
"Last thing that you need to know is the options available for you to pick for your first monster race that you are able to make for your dungeon." Well took you long enough to answer my questions. You made me ask twice before you answered. That is just not nice when I am in a situation like this.
"Choose wisely as you only get one starter race." Great! That makes the choice that much harder. I really hope there isn't a time limit.
"Goblins, slimes, flies, spiders, skeletons, zombies, imps, dogs, cats, rats, snakes, and rabbits are your choices for your first monster." Umm... now that is a lot of choices.
Reading through this again and again to make sure that I pick the best option. Man it would be so nice if they could give only three options like a certain game series that I liked to play as a kid. I still play it to this day if I am being honest.
Well not anymore, but I don't want to think about that at this moment.
Now before my mind wanders off into other depressing thoughts that I shouldn't be having right now. I need to pick a monster race.
Goblins are a nice option and fit the humanoid factor that I like, but with the choices of imps and the skeletons available to me it is making this not my imminent choice.
Well I could also pick zombies that fit the humanoid part, but I have never liked diseases which zombies will obviously carry around with them.
The voice said that I should make it so lots of people stay in my dungeon, and no one will want to be in a dungeon very long with a high chance of getting sick every time they enter.
If this world has churches, they will probably not like the undead. Making it so the zombies choice is one that I will not pick even more. While also making it so I can't choose the skeletons either.
It's not like skeletons have to be humans, but that is what I will be thinking about if I choose them. And the churches in this world probably won't care if the skeletons are humans or not because of the chances of the dungeon switching to human shaped skeletons will always be present.
Then there is the imps. Little human like low class demons. At least the way that I picture them, they are human like.
There are some stories where demons are only imps, but then in the better stories there are a huge amount of demon types. And in those the imps are near the very bottom or at the very bottom of the list of ranks in a demon army.
It would be a nice choice if I wasn't thinking of a church possibly being in this world. Or else I would only make it so I only have to choose between these guys and goblins.
Well might as look over the non-humanoid monster races that I can pick from just in case any of them catches my eye enough for me to pick it.
Let's see here. I got slimes, too easy to kill if the people of this world have magic with their mana. Hit the core inside their gel like body hard enough to knock the core out and they are gone.
Well that is if the slimes are the same compared what I think a slime is.
Flies and spiders are a big nope. Have never been a bug person, and never will be a bug person. Especially spiders, they are the worst.
Gives me shivers just thinking about spiders roaming around near me all day, every day. Even more so when I think about how big they would have to get to be true monsters in a magic world.
Dogs and cats are quite odd to see. Never heard of a monster dog or cat. They would have to be at least wolves for the dog, or some kind of other big cat for the cat.
Then in the end the dogs could end up demonic to become hell hounds. Also for the cat the end goal would be some kind of tiger or lion.
Snakes and rats are next. Rats is something that I have no idea where they could go in terms of evolving besides rat beast men.
And for snakes I could go pure snake and just increase their poison and size. Or I could add legs and make them lizards with me being able to control their evolutions.
Then I could have a end goal of dragons or a wyvern at the very least. Maybe I could turn them into lamiae's . Or in other words snake people.
Who are half-snake, half-human. With the upper body being the human half. That is most likely an end goal for the evolutionary tree of the snake race, so this choice still doesn't count towards my goal of having humanoid monsters.
And in the end the last choice that I should look over is the. "Rabbits."
Wait. Did I just say rabbits out loud? "Great choice! You have selected the monster race 'Rabbits'. Good luck and live well. Rabbit Dungeon."
Oh crap. The voice just said that I am now a rabbit dungeon. Crap, crap, crap! No! That was going to be one of the last options besides flies and spiders. In my list of options, even zombies were higher than rabbits!
That is even with me thinking there is a big chance of the people of this world hating undead monsters. And the undead dungeons that make the undead.
Also those last couple words that the voice said sounded really sarcastic. That tone of voice that she used sounded like dungeons with rabbits as their monsters don't live that long. How mean would she sound if I picked flies? Man who knows what that would be.
Now the most important thing is to figure out how to move something so I can hit myself for being so stupid and saying that stupid word out loud!
With me trying again to move, but this time with a new purpose I try everything I can to which it still doesn't work. The only thing I can do now is drown in my sad thoughts about my old life. And my going to be short life as a dungeon.
Who would think that a dungeon filled with only rabbits would have any treasure making it worth enough to keep around.
After a good amount of time has passed with me thinking of just super sad thoughts. With most of the thoughts consisting of the words "Why?!" And "Stupid Wade! Stupid Voice!"
I finally start to calm down again to the state of mind that I had before the voice started talking. Which was a clam collected fear that pushed my thinking ability to new heights.
This time thought the fear isn't because of me being trapped in this room. The fear that I am feeling right now is how short of a life that I am going to live once people find my dungeon.
So I push my thoughts into focusing on doing only a few things for right now. And the most important thought that I am having right now is; "I do not want to die young!"

On the second jump, Claire's bad leg gave way and she felt herself tumbling forward. A cry of surprise escaped her and Claire was certain she was about to topple off the side of the train. Alek, however, moved quickly, catching her mid-fall and keeping her upright, and alive. Claire lifted her eyes to meet his which were wide with alarm. The expression was fleeting, lasting for only a moment before it was replaced by a frown. "You could have fallen," he said pointedly."I know," Claire breathed, finding her thoughts drifting to the strong arm wrapped around her waist. A flush rose to her cheeks and she was grateful for the biting wind that masked her reaction. "Thank you.""You need to be more careful," he continued, his eyes locked on hers, bright and haunting in the silver glow of the moon overhead."I will," Claire assured him, her heart skipping in her chest.
