《Agnes of Raegma》The Prologue

"Where am I?"
No answer.
I shivered and looked around. It was cold. So cold.
"Where am I?!" I screamed this time.
But it was just dark... exceedingly so ... eerily so.
I let out a huff of air imagining the smoke that formed in the cold.
“Where am I?” I whispered this time and moved my face downwards then it struck me.
“Who am I?”
I shuddered fearfully and I screamed.
“Help me! Help me!”
I stood up and froze. ‘I stood up?’ I questioned myself. Then I looked down and saw…nothing.
I couldn’t see a thing. Then a thought struck me. Maybe I was blind? Blind….
“Help me!” I screamed again. Then I started to run. Where was I going? I couldn’t see. Nothing was chasing me.
Yet… I ran. With all my might. All I could think off was ‘I need to get out of here; but where is ‘here’?’
Slosh.
“Huh?” I said beyond baffled. Just now there was a sound.
Then I felt the wetness of my feet. That was it. I fell to my knees and screamed.
“You motherfucking son of a bitch! Get me out of here!”
Then came the eerie silence for a while. Suddenly I felt pulled back and thrown on something. I tried to get up but I couldn’t. I was dumbfounded.
“God is deaf….” I mumbled. ‘God? What is that?’ I thought almost immediately. ‘How did I just say…I know this ‘God? Before that motherf***ing??? What could that be?’ I just said words I didn’t know. But how could I say a word I don't know? it was almost on reflex.
“God?” I said a bit louder can before.
..........................
“God, can you hear me?” even louder.

Still silent and dark. I need answers, something. I sat up…I could now sit up? on the darkness and brought my knee to my face. Then I felt the floor with my fingers. It felt smooth and a bit soft. Soft? Soft?? Soft??!!
‘Why is the ground soft?!’
“-th”
I swiveled immediately to where that sound had come from. All I could see was darkness. But I definitely heard something. I waited but nothing again. Just as I would give up…
“-beth”
‘beth!’ I repeated in my head. ‘A name..?’
“Beth” I said out loud.
No reply. Just silence. Then a loud yell.
“Elizabeth??!”
I jumped in fright. It was still so dark. Why?!
I gave up on finding the voice and lay on the soft ground. Then I opened my eyes……huh? Could it be my eyes were closed the whole time?! I felt the sudden urge to kill myself… then I realized even if my eyes were closed some light could still seep in. The light threatened to blind me as it came in all at once.
I shut my eyes tightly then gently and slowly opened it up. My first view was white and blurry with a few figures at the sides. I turned slowly to the left then to the right.
“Huh?” I said dumbly. I could see… people. These people were humans, right?
I looked down at my blurry self and brought my hands to myself. I am human, too.
It was more of a question than a statement.

"Okay, first step: Let's make some Brandy." ...that's a maybe then. Author's note: I love the idea of kingdom-building novels and think the genre has a lot to offer, but I don't think many authors do them very well. Here is my attempt. The novel has a strong focus on politics and kingdom building, with occasional action and a bit of humor. Have fun. Cover was made by MrZombie Updates three times a week.
