《Red Road》Chapter 2 - Low Ranked Core

Kiron was sitting on the ground, staring at the boar he had just killed. This was the first time Kiron had been in a fight, it was also the first time he had killed something... His heart was beating twice as fast as it normally was, Kiron was just sitting there, staring at the boar, thinking about everything that had just happened.
Kiron raised himself and picked up the boar, he then started walking towards his home carrying the boar on his back.
As he entered his house he spoke, “Mom, I’m back home! Look at what I got!”
His mother came walking towards the kitchen, when she entered, she saw a boar on the table, her eyes filled with admiration. “Did you get this boar yourself?” She was fully aware that Kiron liked spending his time in the mountains, she had been somewhat worried that he might encounter a profound beast much stronger than himself, but for him to actually bring one home?
“Yes, I encountered this wild boar when I was walking down the mountain!”
Charlotte made clothes, which was her job. Making clothes doesn’t pay a lot of money, so she doesn’t have a lot of money to spend on Kiron, the money she made was mostly used to pay for food and taxes. If the city of Norica was unable to pay its monthly tax to the Kingdom of Tranos, they would no longer receive any support from the kingdom.
Seeing a boar on the table was an unusual sight for Charlotte, if they were to eat half of it and sell the rest, which would be about 10 gold coins! Charlotte earns 8 gold coins every month. “We should take half of it for ourselves, then we sell the other half.” Charlotte hasn’t been smiling a lot lately, so when Kiron saw a smile on his mother’s face, he couldn’t help but feel happy!
“It’s getting late, help me bring this boar over to the butcher!”
Kiron picked up the boar and walked out of the house with his mother. They were having a small friendly chat while walking over to the butcher.
“Someone from the Kingdom of Tranos will come here in the next 3 weeks, he might take some of the new practitioners with him to one of the kingdom’s sects!”
Charlotte’s face turned sour once Kiron mentioned this, obviously, no mother wants to see their child leave, especially when they’re so young. “Yes, but the chances of the Kingdom of Tranos picking you to join one of their sects is very small, in the last 8 years, not a single person from this town has been able to join a sect”, it was obvious that Charlotte didn’t like the idea of Kiron leaving, but she’s not one to hold him back.

“No matter how small the chance is, I still won’t give up”, Kiron was still young, and he had rarely experienced any difficulties when. He wasn’t fully aware what it meant when someone said that the chance of something happening was slim.
A smile returned to Charlotte’s face, “Just like your father, he would never give up. No matter how hard it seemed”.
They finally arrived at the butchers shop, “Hey there, haven’t seen you in a while! You here to buy some meat?” Just as the butcher finished his sentence, he saw Kiron and the huge boar, “No, we’re actually here to sell some. We want to sell half of this boar, how much gold would that be?” Charlotte said while looking at Kiron and the boar that was being carried on his back.
“I’ll give you 10 gold coins for it. Also, are you the one who hunted that boar?” The butcher said while looking at Kiron and the boar on his back. He was naturally curious, did that little boy really kill a boar? “Yes, when I was walking down from the mountain I encountered this boar, then I killed it.” Being able to kill a wild boar at such a young age, naturally, the butcher was truly impressed!
“Well, just bring the boar into that room over there and put it on the table, I’ll be finished in half an hour”. As the butcher finished his sentence, Kiron started walking into the room, it was filled with the smell of blood. He put the boar on the table and walked out as fast as he could, the stench was nauseating.
As he exited the room, the butcher went in, “We’ll just wait here until the butcher is done with the boar” Charlotte said with a smile on her face. 10 gold in just one day? That’s more than she is able to earn in one month.
“I can get more animals from the mountains, I’ve been there a lot, and I know where to find them!” Seeing the smile on his mother’s face, Kiron couldn’t help but feel satisfied. If going into the mountain and bringing back a wild boar is enough to put a smile on her face, then he would gladly go hunting in the mountains!
Charlotte with a smile on her face “As long as you stay within your limits. If it feels like there’s something you cannot do, then don’t do it. Just run”.
Kiron and his mother kept on chatting while waiting for the butcher to finish his work.
The butcher came walking out of the door, “You finished so quickly?” The butcher said it would take him half an hour to finish, but only 10 minutes had passed. “Incredible! Your son didn’t only manage to slay a wild boar, it was a wild boar of the Profound Practitioner Realm!” The butcher was now even more amazed with Kiron then what he had been previously.

When a profound beast steps into a different realm, they usually form a core. These cores that exists within the profound beasts can either be sold for a high price, or used to cultivate a person’s strength. There are 3 types of cores: Low Ranked Core, Medium Ranked Core and High Ranked Core. Each of these cores are incredibly expensive!
The butcher handed the low ranked core over to Charlotte, “You can probably sell this Low Ranked Core for a 100 gold coins.”
Charlotte was just sitting there with a look of disbelief in her eyes, 100 gold coins, that’s more than what she can earn in one year, and she doesn’t have to pay any taxes. She would normally earn 8 gold coins every month, then she would spend two of those gold coins on taxes. So she would normally earn 72 gold coins in one year.
“Well, I’ll go back to working on the boar. I’ll be done in another 10 or 20 minutes.” The butcher didn’t care too much about the core, even if it is valuable, it’s not his.
Charlotte looked at Kiron, “You should use this for your training”. Even if the core meant a lot of money, it was still something that belonged to Kiron.
“I can go into the mountains and get another one, you should sell it! Then you can stop working, and start living a relaxing life!” Kiron, hearing how much the core is worth, wanted his mother to have it.
Charlotte’s smile grew even bigger, “If you’re able to get another one, then you should take this core! With this core, you can increase your strength. Remember, the kingdom is sending someone over to take a look at all the young kids, if you can enter the second rank of the Profound Practitioner Realm by then, you’ll be recruited into one of the sects for sure!”
Kiron was just sitting there, motionlessly, thinking about what his mother had just said to him… After thinking about it for a while he decided to take the core. He is confident that he can just get another core for mother later on.
In the end, Kiron decided on taking the core so that he could use it to increase his strength.
Time passed by, and the butcher came back out of the room with the meat. The butcher handed the meat over to Kiron, and the money to Charlotte.
“Here, you should take 2 of these gold coins and buy yourself a weapon, if you’re going to be fighting against profound beasts then you should have something to defend yourself with”. If Kiron was going to spend his time hunting profound beasts in the mountains, then he should have a weapon to defend himself with, that’s what Charlotte was thinking.
Kiron nodded his head and accepted the gold, “I’ll go buy a weapon after training with Amoh tomorrow, and then I’ll be sure to bring back another core for you!”
It was getting late, it was time to head back home and eat dinner. They were walking back towards their house, the house wasn’t that far away, it was a small city after all.
As they got back to their house they saw a hooded man knocking on the door, as they stopped up, the hooded man turned around and spoke, “Ah, Kiron, I was just looking for you! I have something I want to discuss with you.” The man speaking was Amoh. “Why don’t you come in and talk there, I got some delicious boar meat with me here.” Charlotte said with a gentle voice.
Amoh naturally accepted the invitation and went inside together with Kiron and Charlotte. Kiron and Amoh was sitting around the dining table while waiting for Charlotte to prepare the food, “So, what is it you want to talk about?” Kiron was naturally curious, Amoh coming over to discuss something with him, what could it be?
“Let’s wait for your mother first.”
This sentence just made Kiron even more curious about what Amoh was going to talk about… Kiron and Amoh were sitting there and talking about the boar and low ranked core, “So you were able to defeat a profound beast?” even Amoh was surprised at this. Sure, being able to step into the first rank of the Profound Practitioner Realm after just one week of training, that’s praiseworthy! But defeating a profound beast? That’s monstrous!
“But why would there be profound beasts in the mountains surrounding this town? Profound beasts aren’t supposed to live here… Oh well, probably just a profound beast that had stumbled upon this mountain.”
After talking for a while, Charlotte finally came in with the food, “Food’s ready!” Charlotte handed out the plates with the food to Kiron and Amoh, then she sat down. “Now, have you already talked about what you were going to talk about?” Even Charlotte was somewhat curious about what they were going to talk about.
“No, we’ve been waiting for you to come…” Amoh took a bite out of the meat before opening his mouth again, “What I wanted to ask was, Kiron, do you want to join a more advanced group for training?”

The Tales of the Revolution
Synopsis: As a scholar of science and technology, Joseph Algorith was a man who pursued his dream in unrealistic methods, using his intelligence to surpass all hurdles in this Galactic Era. He was an idealist that combined his thoughts with realism. However, unbeknownst to him in how it had happened, he had gained the opportunity to research a new system, a massive planetoid shrouded in mysteries and magic. However, to fully realize his ambition and creativity, he must save the human race of this magical world, filled with different races and monsters. “The Heavens had forced me, so I shall propose and never will be disposed of.”- Joseph Algorith Spoiler: Basically, he is reborn, with his knowledge as a scientist of the galactic era, into a new world with magic and aura powers. In this world, humans are part of the 7 major races, but two (or three) are planning to enslave them, while the others are watching on the sidelines. His plans are to develop modern weapons to strengthen the human nation because the mages and aura users aren't immortal or have steel flesh even as they get more power to the point they can deal damage of a howitzer using special moves. Though it doesn't mean that there aren't magical armours (and other things)... Extra: I'm not sure if romance will be in this. Depends on whether you, the readers, would like it or how I develop the story further. And there won't be an exact release schedule as I prefer my pace of writing and because I'm busy in life (school and extra activities, FML). If you find any mistakes, please remind me. Also, my writing style and the pace of the story may be slower than other stories you might have read on this website. Though I may make some revisions with the story, considering my editor's thoughts. Also, my story has some concepts from RTW in terms of the idea of creating weapons in a magical world, however, the plot is mine. After reading, tell me, what do you think of the beginning? What do you think your rating would be.?If possible, comment down below anything that could help me improve or to express your thoughts. Lastly, please NO COPY AND PASTE!
