《The King is Back》Chapter 34 - First Contact

A few hours before the arrival of Yakana's fleet of battleships to Neversummer's Port.
Braum's group, Toziro's entire squad, Grant and Lisa, and finally the four children were waiting outside of the remote forest cottage where The Bodyguards' hidden base was located. Earlier, they had sent the beacon indicating their location to Admiral Marlina. Soon, she will send an extraction team to their location and get them inside her battleship.
"This is taking a while," Grant muttered.
They had been waiting close to three hours now. Even the children were starting to become impatient. Braum had to get Urada to use her high affinity with children to keep them occupied by telling them stories and playing mini-games with them.
"So there are other living beings out there outside of this planet?" Deckard, the tough little boy asked.
"I don't know...that's a little hard to believe even for us" Mary, one of the twins also chimed in.
Urada smiled and answered the question.
"Well...our space station has discovered some bacteria, which are very small living beings that you can't see with the naked eye, on other planets near us. And this universe is amazingly vast...who knows what intelligent society is out there. In fact, our first king—"
Urada's explanation was cut off by the sounds of a jet engine above their location. It was the extraction team sent by Marlina.
"They're finally here..." Toziro muttered. This was the first time he saw true Yakana's technology in a while.
"Boss...you're still sure about this?" Troy whispered on Toziro's ear.
"Yes. We'll see where this new king takes us first" Toziro answered back.
The stealth jet lowered down to the ground and landed smoothly. Its size was quite big, approximately 20 meters in length. Its black metallic color reflected the sunlight. From its side, a hatch opened up and a staircase revealed itself. A man with glasses and black hair with a navy uniform and hat walked towards the group's direction while escorted by other soldiers.
The man with the glasses then pulled a Yakanan salute and greeted the group.
"I am First Class Officer Lou of Admiral Marlina's fleet. This humble personage will escort the crown prince and his group towards the vessel." He said.
"The Admiral didn't bother to show herself in front of the crown prince to welcome him?" Kelvin said. He was displeased that Marlina sent an underling to get them.
"O-of course it's not like that. She was preparing everything so that the plan goes smoothly. She surely wants the crown prince to receive the best treatment so she stayed behind" Officer Lou said with a nervous face.

"Enough. It's fine I don't care. Let's not waste any more time. We have waited long enough." Braum stayed emotionless and walked towards the staircase leading to the interior of the jet.
"This way, Prince Braum. My apologies we took so long" Officer Lou followed behind Braum.
The rest of the group on the ground then started to board the plane as well.
"Woooooooww...it's a huge metal beast that could fly!!!" Larry, one of the twins shouted.
"Even I'm shocked to see this, kid...the level of engineering and knowledge that went to building such technological marvel..." Grant muttered.
**
S.S Aquaria, Admiral Marlina's Captain Quarters.
The group that was brought to the ship was gathering in a meeting room prepared by the admiral. Of course, with the exception of the children as they have been taken to another room in the meantime. The group was seated in a huge roundtable that could fit the entire Toziro's squad, Braum's group, and Marlina's subordinates.
"Hmm....isn't this a bit too much?" Braum muttered. He just listened to the plan of how they would reveal themselves to Estalia in Neversummer's port.
"Of course not, comrade! If you want Yakana to be noticed by the world, then you must start with a big bang!" Marlina stood up as he said that. Her eyes were shining.
Toziro was also frowning. He finally said something after stroking his beard a few times.
"You do know Neversummer's port is the main headquarter of Neversummer's Navy, right? I know they're not our match but we wouldn't want to kill the soldiers of our to be allies, would we?"
"Then we just don't have to attack them! Easy! We can stand their attacks anyway. We'll send in the five mechs right away to broadcast the hologram over the city! Trust me, I've done my research for this plan!" Marlina replied.
Officer Lou coughed.
"You mean I, First Officer Lou, has done the research. Right, Admiral?"
"Ssshhh. Not now." Marlina shooed him off.
" *cough* As I was saying, we have planned everything right to our arrival to the mainland of Estalia. What we haven't planned for, of course, is what you as a King should do next" Marlina said.
"That's fine. I just want to ask whether you have some sort of royal outfit or something I can wear?" Braum replied with another question.
The one who replied was Officer Lou.
"Umm....royal outfit is quite an old tradition. The late royalties usually just wear more modern outfits like dresses and suits. But we do have some more traditional outfit we would wear on celebrations...we'll fit you into one, Prince Braum. Right this way."

Braum followed Officer Lou to another room to fit into his new suit.
"Admiral, how did you managed to leave Yakana undetected?" Kelvin asked.
"We didn't. I told the border guards that we were investigating a strange fluctuation in the rim that we thought were signs of Kaiju. The Yakanan border is impossible to leave undetected. The security is airtight." Marlina replied with a tired face.
"Then what about when they notice that you turned off your beacon and your fleet have been gone too long?" It was Toziro who asked this question.
"That's something we have to deal with later. I just didn't want to disappoint the new King so I came as fast as I could" Marlina answered.
The meeting room went silent. They were all thinking individually what to do next. Although they were here on the behalf of Yakana, they were thoroughly cut off from the actual nation itself.

Back to the time of the arrival, Neversummer's Port
The entire port was in turmoil. What they thought were the gods themselves have descended. Some of them finally noticed the holographic display that the flying humanoid giants were carrying.
"WE ARE THE PEOPLE OF THE ETERNAL KINGDOM OF YAKANA. WE COME IN PEACE. PLEASE TAKE US TO YOUR LEADER"
"L-look at the signs!" One person shouted.
"Yakana? Is that what the heaven is called?" Another person chimed in.
The Estalian Navy was more composed than the citizen. After careful consideration, they were going to meet with the gods.
"We wouldn't even be able to attack them anyway...." The captain muttered.
"Captain, what should we do about the citizen?" an officer asked.
"Clear all of the citizens residing in the large dock. Inform the castle of their arrival. And also clear all the streets leading to the castle from here." The captain ordered.
The five humanoid giants have already returned to the impossibly large metallic ships. After a while, what seemed to be giant flying metallic birds with wings were heading to the dock. The shipping dock was quite large—enough for the flying bird to land.
(ZOOOOOM)
The ship finally landed. The captain of the Navy stationed here was already waiting in the dock.
"Why do the Admiral have to attend parties at this time...." The Captain muttered. He was not supposed to be the representative here.
The metallic bird opened itself and revealed a staircase. Multiple people disembarked the flying bird. The Captain eyed the most important-looking person at the front of everyone else. It was a young man of brown skin and wavy hair wearing an exquisite suit of black and gold.

The Captain gulped down his saliva. He wondered how the admiral would react when he found out that he's not the one to be recorded down in history as the first person to talk to the gods. The Captain stretched out his hand for a handshake.
"I-I am Captain Samuel Braxton of Estalia's Royal Navy."
Braum looked at the hand and took the handshake.
"My name is King Braum Gundala of the Eternal Kingdom of Yakana. Please bring me to your King so I can discuss further matters."
'He's speaking our language?" Captain Samuel thought. He had already found it weird how the display from before was in Estalian but he's even more surprised to find out that they are speaking in Estalian as well.
"O-of course. Please. We have already prepared a wagon for you." Captain Samuel pointed at a noble wagon with two Ogruns pulling it.
"Ah. We won't be needing that, thank you. Just escort us to the castle" Braum replied and waved his hand. From the jet behind him, a hovering car of sleek white design moved forward—multiple of them.

"W-what..." Captain Samuel didn't know whether he should still be surprised after seeing everything from before.
Braum got in the car with Admiral Marlina. The people who followed him were as follows: Kelvin, Urada, Toziro, and Qey. The rest was the Navy that would serve as their guards.
**
Neversummer's Royal Palace. Afternoon.
The Yakanan convoy arrived at the place where they would be meeting the Estalian nobles. To Braum's surprise, King Leo was already at the palace courtyard waiting for their arrival.
Braum and the others got off the hover car and walked towards the place where the king was. The king was accompanied by his children, most notably the crown princess and the prince who planned the assassination.
This time, it was Braum who first stretched out his hand.
"I am King Braum Gundala of the eternal kingdom of Yakana. It is my honor to be here in Estalia. I hope we can discuss further matters regarding building a good relationship between our two nations." Braum flashed a gentle smile while saying that.
The King of Estalia took his handshake.
"Oh ho...you're quite young for a King. *cough* excuse my rudeness. I am King Leo Estalianus. Please, come inside so we can discuss"
The Estalian royalties went inside the palace with the Yakanan people. It was a historic first meeting.

Edge Cases (Book 1 Complete!)
Rare classes and powerful skills are helpful. Too bad the system doesn't seem built to handle them. What even are all these errors? Recovery of a Life
The prince of a kingdom was erased from the world. His very existence an enigma. Follow Xopil as he forces his life into a world that refuses to acknowledge his presence. I tried to write a novel without including all the standard things you find in certain genres, or if it is included, I hope it's at least a fresh take on it, this includes me breaking the fourth wall, probably too much. I'm wondering if that helped with humor at all, and also reconsidering if that should be a part of the story. I'm going to be rewriting every chapter at this point... and that chapter I'm extremely disappointed with could likely be deleted if not redone entirely. Now that this story is marked 'completed', I'll be going through each chapter and fleshing out the story a bit, as I found it severely lacking, and I've been saying to myself "I could have done more with that." way more often than I should be. And that speaks to my own dissatisfaction with my writing. I make no warranty-express or implied-as to the quality of these chapters, or the story as a whole. Cover art by Roman Valeyev
