《The Farmer》Chapter 8

Much like his encounter with the DaBest he took a liking to this adventurer named EviLight. The name is still different to what he is used to and he thought to get with the times. He is not old, rather he is just a few years older than the adventurers that he had met. 2 years’ time of having limited interactions with those that lived in the continent must have been the cause. There was no reason for him to brought up to Bara or Nesbitt on how people name their child or whatever intricate news is happening in the city.
Unlike DaBest, EviLight wanted to stay for a bit longer despite having nothing else to do. Bob has already told him that there is nothing else to work on, he has already given him his reward for the task of improving the container.
Instead, he requested to be given a tour of the farm. The workload that Bob has to do is already done and feeling indebted to him, accepted the request. He began the tour by showing him the field and the different crops that he has there. Then afterwards he introduced him to the animals. EviLight chuckles when he found out that he names them.
“What? They’re like family to him” Bob defends himself.
“Nothing, I just find it amusing that’s all” He replies while trying to hold his laughter.
It didn’t take a long time to show him around the place. It is big but not big enough to take any time. Bob looks at the young man who seems to be observing the place more. A burst of wind rushes to them and the young man began to have an enlighten face.
“Is it usually windy here?”
“Most days, yes. Why?”
He puts his hand on his chin and said

“You could build a windmill here or something.”
“A what?”
“A windmill. You know that building with that circling thing.”
Bob looks at him with a confused look. His mind is still filled with what he had learned that day and the conversation didn’t seem to sink in to him.
“Oh, a windmill!” He said finally grasping his mind around it.
“You know it?”
“Yeah, it’s that small tower that has a big propeller that moves because of the wind. Yeah I know it.”
“Do you plan on having it?”
“Busy with the work and I didn’t need it at the moment.”
Then as if a spark of inspiration comes to his mind. Bob was already thinking of ways to make that adventurer stays, he still has a lot of question and he doesn’t know when the next adventurer might come.
“How about this? I’m already out of lumber, would you cut some wood for me and I’ll give you 2 silvers. You can even spend the night at my place.”
“I accept!” The young man shouted.
Excitement fills Bob’s mind and listed in his mind the things that he wanted to ask. Things like, the thing that they point on the top of their head that he couldn’t see, the clothes that they wear if it’s a standard thing for adventurers and the magic that DaBest mention but didn’t fully discussed with him.
“I’ll be waiting by the house; you can come to me when you’re done.”
Bob walks back to the house, the wolves still following him. He forgot to train the cubs, but then again there were more important things to do. He went back and admire the contraption that was built by EviLight. ‘Where did they learn all this?’ He inspects every part of it and somehow managed to understand how it works. He then looks around and try to picture out where he would build the mill. It should just be the right height, small enough so it wouldn’t topple but at the same time big enough to actually be of worth to him.

It didn’t take more than an hour and the adventurer already returns, empty handed. Of course, Bob already knows that the wood is inside the mystical sack and he is eagerly waiting for him to take them out. Just as he had anticipated, EviLight pulls out stacks of wooden logs that can be used for lumber. His eyes shines while observing the activity and the adventurer is quite amused by his reaction.
“It is getting quite late; you should stay for the night.”
Bob attempts to invite him but he was kindly rejected. He thought of a quick way to make him stay. Then he remembers that he couldn’t make the windmill without leather. The leather is used as a makeshift propeller for windmills.
“Ah, I forgot. I would need leathers to make the windmill but I don’t have them.”
“I have some, I could trade it with you.”
The adventurer pulls out stacks of leather in front of him and was amazed again. But this is not what he is planning, he wants the adventurer to stay. He has a lot of things that he wanted to ask.
“2 silvers, I’ll give you 2 silver coins for them…”
Bob’s mind is now making harsh turns on how he could make the adventurer stays. He began to sweat and fumbles around. Just then the adventurer puts his hand on his shoulder and looks at him.
“Look, Bob, I know what you’re doing. You want me stay, but I only have so much time.”
He began to look dejected. He reaches for his pocket for the 4 silver coins that he is rewarding the adventurer. He handed him the coins and took the leather and went to his house where he stacked them by the porch.
EviLight looks at him and somehow feels guilty for what he just did. He was about to leave but the look on Bob’s face made it difficult for him to go. He walks toward the dispirited man and tries to comfort him.
“Oh alright, I’ll stay for the night.”
As though a miracle had just happened, a bright expression filled Bob’s face and shouted for joy, the adventurer laughs at his expression.
“Immersive gameplay indeed.”
Bob’s questions were answered that night. Not in the detail that he wanted but enough for him not to be that skeptical about it. The adventurer spends the night discussing the name and some magics. It’s as if sleep has fled them and they couldn’t stop talking about anything.
They didn’t notice that it was already dawn, only when the rooster started crowing.
“Well that is it. I ought to leave.” The adventurer stood up from his chair by the dining table.
“Thank you for your time. I really appreciate it.” Bob stood up and shook the adventurer’s hand.
On the way out, Bob handed him another 2 silver coins and thank him again.
“I will visit again; it won’t be soon. But I don’t think you will remember me.” EviLight said with a saddened expression
“Oh, nonsense. Of course, I’ll remember you!” Bob laughs and pats the adventurer on the back.
