《Slime migration》Chapter 6: Slingshot and kidnapping

Kip walked to the cave entrance where his slime was lazing around, picking up rock from the ground and play with it using digestive fluid. He wanted to test if he could command it via telepathy, so he though “Bubble, follow me”.
Kip walked out from the cave, peering his head back, he could see the slime slowly followed him, catching up to his normal speed. He brought his sport bag along this time, and the bundle of rope of course. 15 minutes later, he arrived where he hid Uromeck corpse yesterday. Giving a mental command to his slime, Bubble crawl slowly over the corpse until it’s completely covered one leg.
A sizzling sound can be heard. While waiting for his pet to eat, Kip took out some dry wood he prepared and started a fire. Before his mother passed away, his family used to camp outside the wood every month or so. His dad naturally taught him how to start a fire with nothing but natural resources around him. Half an hour of tedious work later, he finally got his fire going. Satisfied with his work, it’s time for him to produce the weapon he had in mind since last nice; a sling shot! He needed to make the frame first, using a suitable shaped sturdy branches, he put it near the fire to dry out all the moisture within.
After that is done. He attached the elastic strap looted from the Uromeck and added a few modifications. Testing with a few pebbles and aiming at nearby trees, he was satisfied to see that it worked great; hitting where he targeted most of the time. He glanced over to his pet. It has finish digesting the corpse a little while ago. Kip didn’t know how a small body can contain so much food without changing its appearance much. “Slime stat” he thought

Kip was surprised, wow, so it gained experience from eating stuff. No wonder the cave slime was crazily devoted on devouring everything around. "If only it was this easy to gain experience" Kip thought. Slimes sure do have it easy.
His slime didn’t seem to like eating anything else aside from meat however; since his command didn’t work when he told it to consume plants material and even rock. Next, he wanted to see what it’s weakness was. He took a burning branch and throw it at his slime, ordering it to stand still. He also pours water on it. Aside from the wobbling of its body, nothing changed when he checked it status.
He then shot pebbles from his slingshot at Bubble, but his slime seemed invulnerable to physical and elemental attack that he could think of and tested. He has no way to make vibration so he assumed his slime is indestructible for now; unless it ran into a meerkat of course. Putting out the fire, Kip was thinking about walking toward his school mate’s corpse in order for his slime to get stronger; but quickly put down the thought since he does not know if the bodies had been completely consumed by these bull monsters.
While heading toward the campfire, he managed to erase his trail with the help of his slime following closely behind. The slime seems to create a trail similar to that of a snail, but less conspicuous since it’s crawl thing through and not dragging its whole body.

Kip was picking up pebbles along the way in hope of gaining a shooting skill. Alas the new system makes it way too hard for him in doing so. After 45 minutes walking and practice shooting, he only managed to increase his stat by a little bit. But for the weak him right now, Kip was quite happy. Any little increase in points could greatly enhance his chance of surviving.

Kip could see the campsite ahead now. He was creeping slowly toward it since students might turn hostile toward him for running away first when it all started, thinking he came back to steal their resources. He could almost see the bus now.
"Wait, something was wrong. Why is it so quiet? And this smell, this is definitely the smell of blood."
With worried in his heart Kip quickly ran toward the camp, Bubble seemingly oblivious to everything does not care whether her owner told her to crawl faster or not, since this was already the slime fastest speed. Kip arrived to where the buses were, the sight there was one he could not forget. There was about twenty human corpses on the ground, and few more inside the bus. They were mutilated beyond the point of recognition, gory can’t not even begin to explain it.
Kip forced a deep breath, the sense of blood was overwhelming. He thought he could handle it better if something like this was to happened again; but it seemed like this is more taxing on him than he thought.
Observing the body and surrounding, it seemed they were attacked by a group of Uromeck last night. He recognises the claw mark and missing body part by cannibalism on the buses and nearby body. “Devour all the corpse here” he commanded Bubble. This might be cruel on his part; however, it was the most logical thing to do. Leaving the body here might attract more trouble than it’s worth; the smell of blood will definitely lure monster here like those bulls yesterday.
Leaving the slime doing his stuff, he started to scavenge for stuff and examining what might have happened to the group yesterday. The dead bodies counted a quarter of all students on the tree buses. Assuming they were attacked in the middle of the night. They would have been kidnapped or manage to run away from the attacking monster. The second option seemed unlikely since Uromeck has naturally good sense of smell; this seemed to be the case however, since a lot of bags was missing from the buses.
Students who survived the attack must had come back to bring the resources away in case Uromeck came back at night again. He wondered why the Uromeck willingly let some of the students get away. Kip was extremely worried now. He didn’t manage to see Chloe body which was a good sign, but he has no way of knowing her whereabouts now. Kip walked out side of the bus, Bubble has finished devouring half of the available corpse now. Kip started looking for the Uromeck tracks.
It looks like he will need to get rid of them before they manage to massacre their way anywhere else. Suddenly, he had a sense that someone was watching him. Panicked, he turned around, but he didn’t see anyone. “Up here” A voice weakly cried. Kip looked up at the source, on top of the bus, a pair of teary blue eyes was looking back him.
