《The Quest To Devour All》Chapter 9 [Edited 18/12/19]

That's amazing.. it didn't even hurt or anything..can’t help but be bewildered by that
Whatever, don't get stuck on trivial matters! Let's test this baby out
Tremis swiftly shot his right arm to the right as the longsword appeared in his hand still completely black, releasing a menacing aura.
He calmly walked to a tree that was right in front of him as he kinda thought that maybe these trees were tired of becoming target practice, living bodies would work nicely as a replacement from now on. Granted, if he could find some of course.
Using 25% of his strength he swung the sword towards the tree sideways.
Zing!
The tree was cut in half and slowly started to fall down towards Tremis. With a quick step to the left, he managed to avoid the falling wood as a cloud of dust formed after the large impact.
"Damn this shit is sharp! I only used like a quarter of my strength and it still cleanly sliced it. Oh wait, I do have some technical skill for this but it still is amazing!"
After he finished talking his mind suddenly became clear and an idea replaced all the thoughts he had in his mind. All he felt was a strange voice flowing through all of his body pointing him towards his weapon almost like fate was telling him to do something and like a sheep in a herd he listened.
The longsword slowly started to change in his hand until a shape was finally formed after about a minute. The final product was an ink-black scythe but not a normal one with only one blade, instead there were three blades that were sharp beyond comparison. 'If any person was to so much as put their finger on it they would be cut' was the feeling it was giving off. The aura seemed to have increased by at least tenfolds.

After the transformation was complete, it felt as if his blood had become less hot as the voice seemed to have disappeared. His thoughts had eventually resurfaced in his mind but seemed to be more clear than before.
[Notification! Skill Gained! {Devorare Faegir Three-Bladed Falx Technique} LVL 1]
[A new state of mind has been achieved upon acquiring Host's Bloodline Soul Weapon making a deeper bond with the weapon to form!]
After seeing this message he immediately closed his eyes and started to inspect what the system meant by a clearer state of mind. It seemed as if he had a mentality of a growing master of the blade but the closer he looked into it the more he was confused. On the surface, he had a clear mind but if you were to look beyond that there seemed to be an evil presence under that masking itself and he noticed that. After countless minutes of trying to dig deeper beyond the surface of his mind, he was left with nothing.
Tremis gave up trying to inspect and he looked at the fallen tree next to him as he twisted his right wrist to test his new skills again.
With a 'Sshink' noise reverberating throughout the air, the tree had once again been cut with correct precision. He only thought that since he was always testing his skills on trees, of course, it would look good since he basically only knew the strength of these trees but living people were different. All of them were different and could be unique so no need to fawn over such little skill.
If Tremis were to look into his mental state again he would have found an interesting sight after bringing up people. A figure of him completely black with the Three-Bladed Falx in his hand. A peal of scalp-numbing laughter could be heard as the figure started anxiously swinging the weapon around as if it really wanted to come out and fight.

Not seeing the display happening in his own mental space he slowly walked back to the camp after deciding that he spent time over here too long and had to find something useful to help him, like a map or something.
...
After rummaging through the tents of the camp he managed to find some items that could help him on his journey.
He found 517 pieces of copper in a bag and a small map that had what it seemed like the forest he was currently in and a town that was pretty close to it. The name above the town was 'Stultus Oppidum'.
If you were wondering, of course, he found food but he didn't care about it since he didn't need to eat during the day. He also assessed that he was still not strong enough to bear the thirst that overcomes him so he might as well not bring food since it will find food by itself. There are a lot of animals in the forest even if he isn't able to make it out today so he wasn't worried.
With a map memorized in his head and a bag of copper hanging off his belt, he set off West, the direction towards the town.
...
After about an hour of walking, he still was not out of the forest. He was walking so he could save energy and meet some animals to devour.
And meet some animals he did as he found two 'Red-Furred Horned Hare' and one new animal which he figured out was named a 'Lightning Fox' for its agility. Of course, it didn't last long since it was only a juvenile and had only 9 Agility points.
After devouring them he acquired a total of 8 Strength, 13 Agility, 5 Defense and 4 Intelligence.
The 'Lightning Fox' didn't have any special skill so no new skills were acquired.
After sighing as he noticed he was not making much progress he heard a loud roar echo throughout the whole forest. Thinking he finally found an opponent he could grow strong off of, he started to run with his newly acquired 55 Agility points. It felt like he was cutting through the wind and nimbly dodging trees as he ran. Thinking this was his chance to finally see if it was possible, he jumped on a tree branch and almost fell off until he got his balance right. After jumping from tree branch to tree branch his proficiency in doing so slowly increased until he finally got the art down.
When doing this thing that he defined as awesome, the only thing he thought of inside his head was:
Im finally a Ninja...
Tremis then shook his head trying to get rid of the thought as he was trying to focus on the matter at hand since a small mistake and he might fall. Doing so might even catch the ears of the beast of a magnitude of power he did not yet know of.
Just after shaking his head he finally stopped on a tree branch as a small area with no trees appeared and a large beast stood in the middle proudly. Tremis slowly pulled out the Three-Bladed Falx out of his palm and got ready to fight. An aura of complete lust for death could figuratively be felt around him and his weapon.
A battle was ready to commence.

Between the trio's optimistic yet naive ideals, and the SPS's tried-and-true surgical methods, determining the answer which methods can better humanity is a struggle that both parties must resolve in their own ways... Welcome to the 7th revision of my 10+ years ongoing novel trilogy. This revision took out some flawed plot concepts to re-introduce a more down-to-earth, film noir-like ambience, where a battle of wits is what will determine the outcome. It also added instead more in-depth expansion into the lives and mindsets of the characters, especially the heroes (a missing factor in older versions). Third-view limited storytelling was also introduced more prominently over my favoured third-view omnipotent, with each chapters concentrating as much as possible on a single character's point of view instead of head-hopping. So I shall begin uploading the chapters as I finish them; they're edited as much as I can, but there'll most likely be some typos and mistakes. As always, I welcome your comments and critiques, and I hope you enjoy reading that story as much as I did creating it! A parting poem to introduce the story (translated from its original French version): Credit: Les Mots, Mylene Farmer & Seal Firmly, the sky writhes When a mouth begets a death There, I will give my life to hear you To tell you the most tender words When all becomes all alone I'll break my life for a song And to lives that stoop to notice mine I know I will say goodbye But a fraction of this life I would give anything, anytime The universe has its mysteries Words are our lives You could kill a life with words Soul, how would it feel? If our lives are so fragile Words are mysteries Words of feelings Words of love, a temple If one swept the world away One could touch the universe I will tell you how the sun rose high We could with a word become one And for all those words that hurts us There are those that touches us Which illuminates, touches the infinity Even if nothingness exists For a fraction on this life We will give anything, anytime The universe has its mysteries Words are our lives We could kill a life with words Soul, how would it feel? If our lives are so fragile Words are mysteries Words of feelings Words of love, a temple
