《Evolution of the Skeleton who walked alone in a Dungeon》Chapter 0003{Level Up-II}

I headed back to the cave with the two corpses, which were incredibly hard to carry.
I separated the wolf's fur and the remaining flesh and then washed the nearby lake’s skin.
The furs color was a mix of blue and black. I used it to cover my middle layers of bones from the shoulders to the legs.
I also divided the remaining corpse into parts. Then I used it to lure the rats.
They gathered around the bait. After that, I would use a fireball to get rid of all of the rats at once.

I went on to hunting rats. Then the parent rat appeared. It was four times the size of the normal rats.
“Appraisal”
Skill Evolution: [Appraisal level 3]
Race: Monster Rat
Parents of the rats found in the lower levels of dungeons. It is known for its speed and its charge.
HP:50/270
Strength:15
Agility:40
Since the appraisal level increased, it showed me more information than before. I was surprised to see that its HP was already this low.
I saw that it had just given birth. It was in a weak state. It charged toward me with high speed and struck me.
It was faster than me, so I wasn’t able to dodge. I tried blocking it with my hands, but it pushed me a few steps back.
I stretched my hands out and tried to use gravity control, but it moved in random patterns so that I couldn’t get a hold of it. I tried to think of the best way to deal with this situation while hitting it with a fireball.
A solution came to my mind. I ran towards the place it had given birth to the infant rats.

I saw the place, and I located its infants. The parent rat also noticed that and ran straight towards me.
However, that gave me an opening to strike it. I used fireball, and as the path was straight, the rat got hit and fell to the ground.
It was on its last remaining HP. I used my spear to end its life as I was already low on Magic.

I headed towards the location of the newborn rats. Over 20-50 rats were resting in the nest.
I had to improve my skills, so I used fireball, the nest burnt up and slowly killed them.

I see it now. I am beginning to understand how the leveling works. The level relies more on the number of kills rather than merely their level; however, since I had got additional level up’s when I killed the monster rats' parents, it seems level also matters but not as much as numbers. I am still unsure of how this works but guess I will figure out more about it along the way
They might have been low in level, but thanks to their numbers, it seems I leveled up quite a bit.

Class Available: [Fire Mage] [Water Mage] [Dark Mage]
I used appraisal to see what merits the classes had.
[Fire Mage: -Greater affinity towards the fire and consumes less magic when using fire spells.]
[Water Mage: - Greater affinity towards the water and consumes less magic when using water spells].
[Dark Mage: - Provides stealth and increases all stats in the absence of light.]
The dark mage seemed perfect for me as the dungeon had little to no light.
As I was about to choose a class, I heard a violent sound from behind me.
It seemed to be the male parent of the rats. It started violently charging towards me and struck me too.
I had Physical Damage Resistance, so it did little damage to me. However, it kept striking me.
I tried to strike back with my spear, but it was too fast and would use the opening created to deal with a fatal blow.
Skill Evolution: [Physical Damage Resistance level 2]
Skill Evolution: [Physical Damage Resistance level 3]
I kept taking damage, but so did my resistance keeps increasing, however now I had a small amount of HP left.
I decided to take a gamble and threw away my spear. I observed when its next attack would be.
I showed an opening on my right side to lure it, and it tried to attack there.
However, I turned towards it. It would have reached me before I could use fireball, so I decided to take the hit.
After it struck me with its head, I had just 10 HP remaining. However, I used this chance to grab it with my two arms, and I used a fireball.
As I was holding the rat, I also received the damage from the fireball.
New skill [Fire Damage Resistance level1] learned.
New Skill [Regeneration level1] learned.

I leaned into the wall and sat down in relief as I survived. I remembered that I had gotten a new class to choose from. So, I decided Dark Mage while lying down.

New skill [Dark Amplification level1] learned.

My bones became denser while a black mark appeared around my shoulder. It seemed my height also increased by a few inches.

Risen
Note: Slight edits to early chapters (and removal of one chapter - previously chapter 2) have been made 2/2/21 The city, my city, had once been alive in a way that was hard to describe. Thriving, active, hopeful. Vibrant. But life, as I had come to learn, sometimes possesses only the most tenuous of grasps. Finally, in the end, it became my city - mine alone. I was, after all, the only one left. Worse, it was entirely my fault. There was red in my ledger that could never be wiped clean. Not while I still lived, anyway. This story follows Eran, a man who became the opposite of everything he had ever wanted to be; in a world where superpowers began to appear in a rare few, his lack of control over his own power relegated him to the role of a terrible villain - the Reaper, named so for the countless lives that he absorbed and made his own, each only furthering his deadly lack of control. Gone mad with guilt and isolation, he strove for a single heroic act - his own demise. Death was less permanent than he hoped. Centuries later, he woke to a changed world and in a body not his own. Unfortunately, his power came with him. Yet this time, things would be different. This time, he had a chance to bring it under control. He could never truly make up for the things he had done; he could never achieve redemption. That wouldn't stop him from trying to be a hero. Words and Emotions of Me
"I write. I am a writer. I am proud of myself for writing."The last months have been a true roller-coaster of emotions for me, and I did the one thing a writer would do in such a situation-I wrote about them. I wrote until my fingers hurt from typing and I wrote until my hands were stained with ink.For me, putting feelings into words has always made me feel better, or helped me understand what I was going through. I believe in the healing and therapeutic power of writing. And so, I wrote poems. Poems that I want to share with the world. This is the collection of the poetry that I wrote so far. The poems that may be written in the future, after the collection is out, will also be uploaded.
