While Feng Ye rests and snores away the night, the bored loli in his mind suddenly reveals a mischievous smile.

Whenever Feng Ye sleeps, he is absolutely helpless in his mind. The system loli can intrude in his dream with or without his permission. However, he cannot go see the system loli unless he is awake. Initially, the bored system would fool around and troll Feng Ye in his dreams. Unfortunately, as the system had been able to fully read his memory and thoughts he had many unfortunate dreams. Sometimes, he would be able to see his old friends, family members and anime waifus appear before him. However, before a happy end can occur, some random troll event appears. For example, the toilet gets stuck and the excess toilet water floods the house, or just as he wins the lottery, he realizes that the lottery ticket had expired. Sometimes, a random trollface popups up from nowhere giving him a jumpscare.

This night was strangely uneventful. As Feng Ye continues to dream, the system loli had not interrupted. Thus, Feng Ye continues to rest unaware and oblivious of the world. As he is in dreamland, he is unaware of the mysterious changes that occur in the physical world and to his body.

The system loli originally was just a wisp of consciousness. A wisp of consciousness can’t really have a true gender and is essentially genderless. However, after a month of sorting through Feng Ye’s memory and maintaining the loli form while extracting energy from the environment, the system’s consciousness had accumulated full energy and awakened a personality.

This personality always would make fun of Feng Ye and despise him. The personality which had formed is originally apart of the system. Tonight, after Feng Ye’s shock, the personality was able to fully develop and take control of the entire system. Naturally, its existence is still interlocked with Feng Ye’s so it won’t do anything to harm him. However, it’s existence is no longer just a formless, genderless consciousness. In the heart of the city of Aven where the Aven Institute of Technology is located, a gathering of the board of directors is occuring in an underground conference room. A meeting which consists of the highest levels of the city. Five individuals sit around a conference table. Each is a member of the board of directors and trying to outdo each other with benefit in mind.

Benefit is forever the number one priority. In this meeting, two males and three females discuss. Each member’s identity in the board of directors is anonymous and code names are used to refer to each other. The age range of the group is around 38-45 years of age. The codenames of the members in the board of directors are TIGER, HAWK, CAT, FOX, and LEOPARD, respectively.

Each member wears a mask which is associated to their codename. A male with a tiger mask is the first to direct the conversation topic. “It seems that the student council has also expanded their reach into our partnered businesses. I have no objection in what had occurred tonight. Your thoughts?”

The male besides him with a hawk mask replies, “The student council does seem to be quite rampant. It is good for them to have this lesson. I would also suggest to leave it as is.”

The other three females’ masks are respectively, a cat, fox, and leopard.

The female with the cat mask also contributes, “With this demonstration of authority to the student council, it may also have them suspect us. So, I would suggest to hold a public ceremony to each school commending the brave feats of Akimichi Yen. This can divert their line of sight.”

The female with a leopard mask nods, “Yes, CAT makes a good point. Let’s do that. With this event the student council will be quite busy and our underground research can expand during this opportunity. Currently, we only have some minor results in regards to the fusion of gene modification and esper ability extraction. With this opportunity, we could push forward. As long as we don’t alert the student council, it should be no issue to suppress them in the near future which would allow us to fully control both the city and the institute.”

The meeting finishes. It seems that the undercurrents in the city will only be more turbulent as Akimichi’s death seems to be the blasting fuse.

A masked man teleports directly into an office located in one of the highest towers within the Aven Institute of Technology. He looks to the woman behind the desk and performs a bowing ritual.

“It is as you have expected, President. The board of directors have initiated a meeting immediately. However, its contents have been shielded and I could not gather information on the discussion. The level security is also top notch.” The masked man’s words fall.

Surprisingly, if Feng Ye was present, he would recognize that it was Akimichi’s voice. However, Akimichi’s appearance is completely different than before.

The woman referred to as the president nods. “It seems that they will make their move soon. The peaceful days are coming to an end. How are you feeling by the way, Akimichi-kun? How is this vessel?”

Akimichi, under his mask smiles, and replies, “I am feeling quite well. Thank you for providing me another opportunity to live. However, I can only display around fifty percent of my past ability with this body and will still need some time to get used to it. I was just wondering, what would happen to my roommate?”

The woman smiles. “We will arrange another member of the student enforcer team to ensure his safety. However, your name will need to be changed. You will also need to be careful of exposing your voice. You will be known as AKI, a codename based on your former identity. You will also have a different suite on a different floor.”

Akimichi, who is now known as AKI nods. “Yes President.” After his words fall, he disappears from the room. The room only has the student council president’s form. She stretches her self, yawns and mumbles, “Using this ability does make me quite tired. I’ll need to go sleep soon.”

The following day, Feng Ye had awakened. For some reason, he still felt tired and even sore as though the previous day he had done a complete full body workout. He took a glance at his tablet and noticed that he has been given a week leave from the Kami Institute to “rest and recover”. He scrolls down the series of notifications that he had received. Some were from his friends like Haruta, Chu Feng, and Kira who ask if he’s alright and that they’ll send him the class notes. Additionally, he sees news articles everywhere regarding last night’s incident. The board of directors also issued a statement.

Board of directors: We are deeply in sorrow regarding the passing of a student who stood up to protect the majority. Akimichi Yen, a post-secondary student, had sacrificed himself to allow adequate time for the dismantling of explosives. We condemn terrorist behaviour and put an emphasis on the safety of all students and residents within the city. Investigations are ongoing to locate and place on trial the murderer. Akimichi Yen is a hero.

The statement had been quoted and duplicated in numerous articles. There is also a scheduled ceremony in each campus which gives Akimichi a moment of silence. As he continues to look at the news and scrolls the Kami Institute student forums, he notices a few threads which immediately catches his attention. These threads are also in the trending threads section but around a half page below all the threads that are regarding Akimichi’s death.

These threads weren’t as popular as the majority of the students’ focus was on the incident regarding Akimichi. However, it seems that there were sightings of laughter in regards to a girl in the middle of the night wandering about. Many believe that it’s a ghost, however, one of the threads had included a blurry picture which looks like a small girl with silver hair. It is blurry, however, when Feng Ye saw it he immediately exclaimed, “Doesn’t she look familiar?!”

Immediately, Feng Ye visits the loli idling in his mind and is shocked, “Hey, how did you get out and fool around? Stop pretending to be asleep! You seem to have played crazily last night!”

The loli doesn’t pay any attention to Feng Ye.

“…” Feng Ye’s mouth twitches.

Feng Ye walks up the to the loli and picks her up by her clothes in his mind. “Hey, we are essentially co-existing in this world, you still need to tell me what’s up? How did you get out?”

Feng Ye is exasperated. After around thirty minutes of “negotiations”, he was able to get the loli to tell him what’s up.

As you may have realized, the system aka me was able to fully gain energy from the environment and have essentially developed a personality.

During the incident in which Akimichi had passed away right before your eyes, you had awakened your esper potential. It seems as though there are two different abilities that you could use. One of them is still unknown, however, the other is essentially a spiritual ability. We can call this ability Spiritual Awareness for now and I’ll add it to your attribute page though as it is an esper ability, I cannot provide any means to upgrade it.

This ability strengthens your mental fortitude and also allows me to freely come out through your body. So, when you sleep, naturally I can go out to play!

An astonishing discovery is that when I come out and utilize your body, you would essentially change into my appearance. During this time, you would be unconscious while I take control unless you learn to control your spiritual awareness to a higher level, in which you can become an observer like I am. The benefits is that when I take control, all your attributes increase by 200% and your abilities increase by 2 levels in regards to all abilities I have provided you. This is because you are essentially the medium from me, the consciousness, to you, the body. However, with this ability, we can essentially directly remove you as the medium. Naturally, I cannot come out unless you allow me to or fall asleep.

He looks around the hospital room and notices some silver strands of hair and immediately places it into the system space. It seems that what the loli said was true. She can come out when I’m asleep.

“Okay, I understand Shira. But, could you please not come out at night, maybe we can discuss a specific day for you to play instead. It would cause too much trouble! Also, WTF, am I really decreasing my potential that much simply by existing as a ‘medium’?! 200% attribute increase and three level increase? Dafuq?!”

Shira:

The loli named Shira who is the system pouts.

Feng Ye sighs. “How about this.. At the end of the month, you can come out and have control for 24 hours. However, the premise is that you don’t cause trouble and stay lowkey.”

The loli’s face lit up and brightens immediately.

Shira:

Feng Ye now has another safeguard. In the event he can’t handle his enemy, he’ll just let this loli take over. Easy! The only issue would be that he’ll be unconscious and that he will change into the loli’s appearance...unless he can convince her to use the Hidden Wanderer ability. Feng Ye lies down and stares at the ceiling. “It’s time to get out of the hospital.”

He heads out and prepares the journey back to his suite. While he is commuting, he recalls the attribute panel.

Hidden Wanderer (LVL 1)- The ability to disguise as another individual perfectly.

Limitations: Only applies to the everyday individuals with no peculiar abilities.

Upgrading this skill permits host to disguise as individuals who are stronger than the everyday individual. Next upgrade requires 4 AP.

Halo of Recovery (LVL 1)- The ability to slowly recover from physical and mental wounds. It also shortens the recovery time when host is under abnormal status conditions. (ie. dizziness, unconsciousness, poison). Upgrading this skill increases the rate of recovery. Next upgrade requires 10 AP
