《To Deify a Deity》Chapter 16 - The Dean's Punishment
Advertisement
Being a school for elite talents to aid them in their journies to becoming warriors and mages, the Royal Academy of Dulsa naturally had a place for students and people who would seek to do harm and break the country's laws or the school's rules. Having broken almost every school rule regarding sexual conduct and various laws of harassment and sexual assault, this is exactly where the previous Dean now found himself. The dungeons.
The dungeons of the academy were rarely cleaned and none of the plumbing worked. It wasn't a priority for the dean as the only people who really got sent there during his reign were the young men who had "good" relations with the girls the dean had his eyes on, and the multiple women who outright refused the dean's advances.
"Marsing, what have you gotten yourself into," he asked himself. Marsing Hallel was the name given to him by his father, it held no specific meaning and in the future, his name would most likely be synonymous with sexual predator.
It had been several days since the events at the dining hall had taken place. There was a massive upheaval at the academy and of the noble ranks of the Dulsan Empire. Under the advisement of new Duke, Mishall, there was a purge in the royal court. Almost all noble households who held some form of prejudice against the High Humans were forced into exile. Those who refused the Emperor's command were simply expunged. The corrupt school officials who had been appointed by Marsing Hallel, were forced to resign and kept in a separate area of the dungeons. Each had varying degrees of crimes.
The worst offenders were Marsing's personal friends who had directly delivered girls who his bedchamber and sometimes had even joined in the "edcuation" process. These men, and women, were roughly beaten by members of the Dulsan military in order to sate the outraged public in light of the exposed scandal. If nothing had been done, there would have been war against the Emperor of Dulsa, both foreign and from afar. The offenders who had the least amount of crimes were the teachers and guards who knew of the actions of the Dean and his cohorts but did nothing. "knowledge of the crime is one thing, but to do nothing only makes you an accomplice," were Altresca's words as she had ordered their imprisonment.

The roundup wasn't completely bloodless either, espcially with Traigar and Freyd volunteering to be the vanguards of the arrests. Almost everyone arrested had some type of injury, a few of the perpetrators even died, they had "resisted" so much so that they had inadvertently ended their own lives.
Marsing Hallel was a coward, he did not resist at all. When they had arrested him in the dining hall, everyone cleared the room but Freyd and Traigar. Marsing had thought it was by the good graces of Lystall that it was Freyd who had moved to arrest him for surely, if Traigar had been allowed to arrest him, it would have meant his death.
Much to Marsing's chagrin, his pleas for mercy went unheard as Freyd started yelling, "Fiend! Stop resisting and it won't be so painful!"
Marsing replied, "milord, I'm not resisting." He was met with Freyd's fist to his nose.
To Marsing's dismay, Traigar had quickly realized what his son was doing and shouted, "Freyd, catch him, he's getting away!" and the worst beating of the despicable ex-dean's life had begun. The list of broken bones and injuries had kept piling on for hours until Freyd and Traigar had determined that they had doled out enough punishment for the time being. After they had stopped beating the dean, himself, they started beating eachother, inflicting light wounds on one another in order to claim most of the dean's injuries had been sustained in self defense of themselves.
"Ebglgl Fndeisth" 'Evil fiends' is what the Dean had tried to say but he was too badly beaten and missing too many teeth to form any coherent words.
When Freyd and Traigar had paraded the dean around the campus before eventually leading him to the academy's dungeon, there had been much ridicule. "His appearence finally matches his pig-like nature!" a beastkin girl had shouted. "He looks so much like a pig now! Better take away his mirrors lest he get confused at his reflection and tries to eat himself," another studen had jeered.

The student's words weren't exaggerations either, The first blow from Freyd had broken Marsing's nose in such a way that it turned upwards, and after the intense beatings his face was swollen just as much as his enormous belly and everything that wasn't black or blue was flushed red. Marsing didn't have to worry about such things though, his eyes were swollen shut so he couldn't look at himself even if there was a mirror in the dungeons.
Wallowing in his own depression, a shadow had appeared in the room. A big burly man, even though it was dark, his hair still radiated a light as if it was on fire. Marsing heard footsteps grow louder and louder.
"whosthbth thrruth" (who's there?") Marsing demanded.
"I can't understand pig language," Syble replied. There was a sadistic glee in his eyes that Marsing was fortunate enough to not be able to see. More footsteps from down the cooridor resounded. Hearing this, Syble's image faded from sight. A trick he picked up from Loki.
"Micah, I know he's your uncle but do you really need to see him that badly?" A girl's voice asked.
"I may be surnamed Mishall now but the problems of the Hallel house are still our problems, cousin." A boy's voice replied. He was the youngest son of Tristell Mishall, Micah Mishall.
"Yes but the Emperor has forbade anyone from doing anything before your uncle's offical punishment has been decided and carried out," the girl spoke quickly, flustered.
"Cousin," the boy said, "leave, you do not want to be here for what happens next. The man has shamed my grandfather and my father. I alone will accept all responsibility for what transpires tonight."
More footsteps rang out, retreating this time, as the girl ran off down the cooridor.
"Boy," Syble called, surprising the youth, "Do you really want to do this?"
"It is my duty to do this. I will not watch my father's name be futher sullied by his association with this cretin. He did not choose to have such a brother yet such a brother he received. It is not his fault and I will not watch his name be smeared in the trial of this pig." The boy's resolution was firm, he was undaunted by the bodyless voice.
"haha, very good young elven lord," Syble's form once again appeared. "Such a fire in your eyes, unlike most of your kind. Tell me, what are your plans?"
Before Micah could reply another form silently approached from behind the boy. It was Loki, "Oh I have an idea. You probably haven't heard of Prometheus. He's an aged God, still trapped somewhere. He received a punishment where birds forever ate his liver. Fortunately," Loki paused and placed his hands on Micah's shoulders, "This thing won't die from a few birds eating at him."
Withdrawing one of his hands from Micah's shoulder, Loki snapped his finger. The group of four were teleported to a field. There sudden appearence caused the various birds hiding in the grass to take flight, slightly blotting out the sky. Loki had teleported the four people to the training field for the warriors of the royal academy. The birds usually flocked there during the night to find the scraps left by the training warriors as they snacked to replenlish their energy.
"Hmm," Micah was deep in thought, "Actually how about this.."
The next morning cries of pain could be heard from the training field. As people gathered, they saw the head of Marsing Hallel protruding out of the ground, the rest of his body bound and buried underneath the earth, with birds picking at his eyes.
