Whoever said Karma is a bitch was right.

Why did I have to die when I already lived a miserable life? Not that it was overly miserable, just why was I so unlucky?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Imagine you finally get out of school. It was a nasty day. Mulitple tests. Forgot to do homework. All the bad stuff. Obviously you'd be in a bad mood, right?

Right.

"Whatever...not like it matters anyway."

A dark, messy haired kid look towards the sky after walking through the crowded entrance.

Dark clouds.

How omninous.

Turning towards the buses he hestitated, before walking in the opposite direction.

[I needed to cool off.]

And what better way than a walk.

Perhaps the only good thing was that it was Friday, meaning no school tommorrow.

[Yea, at least there's that.]

Away from the school was an old, beat dirt road that lead up to a mountain near the school.

There was a couple rumors about kids going missing up there because of a demon or monster, but I believe it's most likely some wild animal, they were abducted, or ran away.

I rolled my eyes at that last notion.

[No matter how hard your life is, there's always going to be another who's as twice as difficult. Instead of running from it, make it better...dumbass.]

Sighing, I spent another 15 minutes walking up the path, gazing at the local foliage, when I noticed that the woods had become quite quiet.

Normally that should be an important sign that something dangerous was nearby or about to happen.

A raindrop fell onto my nose, breaking me from my trance. Looking back towards the path I was walking on I knew I should turn back, however, I felt a strong urge to finish the hike.

Wind started to pick up and more rain starting falling.

Ignorning commonsense and rational thought, I sped up my pace and continued the hike. It was only another 30 minutes to the peak anyway. And there should be a firewatch building there or something of the sort which I can hide from the storm in.

Due to me speeding up the rugged terrain, I made it in half the time expected, and luckily there was indeed a fire watch tower. An old, ricketly, wooden one. It was a small one room shack with a tall metal tower. However, it was good enough. It'll keep him dry at least.

[No use in complaining]

It was quite lucky indeed. Soon after squating beneath the tower, the storm started to break out heavily. Winds was ferocious and rain was going sideways.

[Man, how long will this storm last]

I checked my phone for time and a weather report only to find it drenched and with no signal.

"Goddamn phone. Shit's useless." I mumbled angrily.

Should've expected it tho in this weather.

Sigh, I knew I should've turned back.

Another gush of wind appears and I hear a large snap. I look towards the location of the loud sound only to see a medium sized pine tree falling colliding with other trees.

Hearing grumbling in the sky, I lookup to soon see a bright flash.

Covering my head with my hood, I laid my backpack down onto the wet floor as a pillow.

Although there was a natural disaster going on right now, it was indeed excellent white noise.

However, the scornful thunder kept waking me whenever I was about to fall alseep drenched.

Hearing a couple more cracks and loud snaps, I ignored it and turned over. However mass confusion and fear occured right then. The walls suddenly caved. I was once again drenched and cold as rain and wind plastered against my body. Small bits or vegetation was flying around slapping my face and giving cuts on my arm. But that wasn't the most important part. As because the house caved and I was laying down, all the rubble flew on top of me. And even before I could attempt to move the decaying wood which has partly stabbed into me, an extremely bright flash occured and the wood immediately lit on fire...with me still in the pile.

Of course I felt the pain and fear, however the addrenaline kept me from dying from the pain immediately. But even if I didn't die from that, it seems the fiery wood piercing my body making me bleed out or the harsh, windy, cold storm would kill me anyway soon.

Ironically, my backpack was perfectly fine, besides being slightly wet.

Someone observing might've thought that I placed the backpack's safety over my own.

However that isn't true. It was just simply more lucky than me.

[Ah, I can feel my strength leaving me.]

A sad pained smile was painted onto my face. Still due to the various factors on his body, he couldn't feel the pain, however it didn't stop the fear and death to spread throughout him. The flames lcontinued to lick his body even as they were being pelted by rain.

Feeling the backpack as he shuffled a little he remembered his biology class that he liked. Well mainly the girls in it and the the mitochrondria is the powerhouse of the cell. Ah you gotta love school...

Hearing a loud boom he didn't look up. A couple seconds later he closed his eyes, only to soon be bombarded by a bright light.

Thus as his life came to the end, the last thought in his head was not about a girl he liked. Nor was it about anyone important to him. Not even questioning why did he have to die, or what will happen after.

Except it was that the Mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell.
