"My bride, what would you like for breakfast? I can sense some dust hares and sound sparrows in the vicinity. If not, there appear to be some ants of earth elements below us. In fact, quite a few nests even from where we are standing."
Eri scrunched up her face at the man with green hair. "...please enjoy your ants by yourself. I'll hunt for some dust hares."
Eri tightened the laces of her boots and unsheathed her dagger.
"My bride-"
Eri scrunched up her face at the slime man.
"Stop calling me 'bride', I feel like I'm going to punch you in the face if I hear that one more time!"
"Oh how tough, I don't mind if you swoop your fist of love into my face. My bride sure is cute isn't she,"
"Eri!! My name is Eri, and let's get the dust hares now."
"Well yes, my Eri."
... ...
Oh bummer, I never got to hear his name, human etiquette doesn't apply, right? Yup, he's a slime and a madman to top it off. He was probably something along the lines of #348 slime of plant element in his tribe or something.
Now that I think about it, he would make a really great party member to my one-man party. I've been suffering from mediocre results for the longest time. He can be the key to my big break!!
"Err, Slime! You have exploration skills, don't you? Can you point out the hares for us?"
"My pleasure."
The man's arms dissolved into a green jelly-like whip and snapped into the bushes. A small thump sounded and the green whip retrieved a limp dust hare.
I stood agape with surprise and looked at the slime man.
"Tha-that was quick!!"
The slime man made a self-deprecating smile, "I'm afraid that was nothing much, but I am happy that you're impressed. However, there is a particular skill I'm rather proud of, please keep your eyes open for this trick."

The dust hare was raised in midair while the green whip expanded and completely submerged it. Through the manoeuvring of the slime, the hare's limbs were lifted apart and separated. The slime covering the hare underwent a shock and removed the hare's fur in an instant. What was left was a small form obscured in a mass of blood.
"Hhii-..."
My finger pointing at the sight trembled, but I felt weak in the knees.
Then my sight turned white.

"Eri? Were you so hungry you fainted?"

[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] This is a story about the newly-adult Calliope Smith having a terrible day that ends in her getting mysteriously teleported from Phoenix, Arizona to a fantasy world where her life is in constant danger. She considers this an upgrade. Someone evil is looking for her, and she doesn't know why. Someone who seems to know a lot about her has promised they'll help her, but she doesn't know who they are. All that matters to Callie is that magic is real and one way or another she's going to learn it. The end of the world is coming up, sure, but Callie won't need to worry about that. In fact, by the time she even finds out about it one of the doomsday devices will already be destroyed, and the authorities will be well on the way to dealing with the other one. It's fine. Everything will be smooth sailing. Almost certainly. Probably. Chapters are usually about 2500-3500 words, and the goal is to post 2-3 per week but I sometimes get busy or have some writers block. It's your standard portal fantasy / Isekai premise, but unlike some the main character's time on Earth and how she got pulled into another world will (eventually) be explored. Some slight GameLit-feeling stuff later, no menus or level-ups but there's something suspiciously like a skill tree when the magic system gets going. No number crunching, and while the main character will get to do some silly stuff she won't be a god like in some fics (and will in fact spend a lot of time being badly outclassed by her enemies). Some reader interaction, ranging from adding to the worldbuilding to occasionally making big important decisions about skill progression. Please note that the main character is flawed and impulsive, and will make some stupid decisions. That's part of the story, but I get that it's not for everyone. Trigger Warnings: Foster care system references, crappy parenting. Some mental health adjacent stuff, specifically the main character has some issues where she experiences varying levels of empathy and emotional vulnerability depending on the day (it's complicated and not meant to portray any real-world conditions). Occasional violence including mention of death and grievous bodily harm, but no detailed descriptions of gore.

Desiring to rise to great heights again, even in his new life, he spent the remaining centuries he had researching and studying the strange beings called Dungeons, and devising a spell that would allow him to retain his memories. However, the very act of knowing what is to come can often be enough to alter Destiny. Impressed at the Mage's efforts, an ancient, powerful being, the Creator of Gods, has now chosen him, to become one of the Dungeon Gods of a new world in a new segment of reality. Their directive, to bring life to this new world. Follow him, as he brings forth the knowledge his efforts awarded him, and pits it against his unprepared competitors, in a bid to be the first to create sentient life. This is my first full on story, and is mostly going to be a learning experience for me. It is going to be a story following the life of Arcius as a Dungeon God, with very few POV swaps, if any. If I make any errors, either in spelling or in grammer, please let me know, and I will endevour to correct them ASAP. I was inspired to create this story after reading the Scale Dungeon, by TheSilverGunner, here on RRL. It is a good story, despite having only a few chapter out at the time of writing this. I highly recommend that you read that story if you find this one interesting.
