《America Appears in Another World》Chapter 17: Successful Operation
Advertisement
The huge task force of M1A2 Abrams, M3 Bradley's, and Humvees were spread out in a line as they fired. The sheer length could be seen past the horizon, each vehicle being clearly spotted with their tan paint jobs.
Princess Dianna was sitting in one of the Humvees as an observer of the battle with her guard Sean in another Humvee close by. Their Humvee was in between an M3 Bradley and M1A1 Abram. The sight was surreal for Dianna. Normally one would ride into battle with a horse, but this thing which isn't even alive is moving and operating on its own. Furthermore, the ride is much more comfortable than any carriage she had ever ridden.
A team of soldiers were in the Humvee. Two in the front while one operated the overhead turret mounted on the Humvee. Chatter would have been heard on the radio if it wasn't for the constant explosions caused by the Abrams and Bradley's. The automatic turret above was also firing off, so that did not help everyone's ears.
Princess Dianna looked around at the tanks and the turret. Nothing about this battle was familiar. She would have thought that these men were insane before if she had not witnessed their strength in raw firepower from before.
Each soldier possessing the strength of a mana user without years of training or experience. Even for the average knight, it would take years to train in sword use. From what she inquired; these men didn't even spend five years to train to use this firepower. From what she found; these men spent anywhere from a couple of months to one year to prepare for combat.
What's more is that all of these soldiers are just as educated as the average noble in the kingdom. Just what kind of country is the US? Are these soldiers the elite of the elite in their society? To be so capable, these people must come from high ranking families from the US.
The battled raged on. A couple thousand troops on the western region's side have already been killed or ran away, with more choosing to flee. The continuous barrage of explosions and gunfire have scared the crap out of any knight or mercenary on the field. Dead bodies litter the once green field as tanks, Bradley's, Abrams, and Humvees continue their barrage.
Although it was a sweep, only the innermost part of the attack line near the town was moving towards the western forces. Too add on, its barely moving since the range of these vehicles are enough to simply sit and fire for a couple of minutes. The western forces were rapidly descending into chaos.

However, something on the field changed. Princess Dianna felt it. A powerful presence could be felt. She tapped the lieutenant in the Humvee she was sitting in.
"I can sense a powerful mana user!" She said loudly to the lieutenant. There was too much noise around them. The lieutenant nodded. "This is junkman one, the princess says that there is a mana user on the field. Take caution." However, before it could go off, a huge explosion occurred. Something like a fireball could be seen careening towards one of the Abram tanks near them. The tank speedily moved out of the way before it hit. A huge black area was left in the tanks previous position.
"Holy hell!" Basher stated plainly. Poncho was also a bit shocked. "So the wizard has come." He stated.
However, the heat of battle continued. Although it was a battle, it was more of a one sided massacre. The power disparity was simply too large, even with the western regions superior numbers.
However, soon another spell came flying towards them. However it wasn't a fireball, it was much more faster and accurate. It struck dead center onto an Abram M1A2 tank and stopped firing. The tank didn't explode, but it didn't move or fire, as if everyone was dead.
"What the hell was that!?" Basher yelled. The tank eventually began to smoke. Soon some soldiers from a Bradly came to remove the soldiers from the smoking tank. The soldiers were found to be in shock or partially burned.
Soon, the tanks began focusing their fire on a certain coordinate area which presumed the position of the mana user. The mana user was caught completely off guard. He was guarded by some knights and shields, but it wasn't enough to protect him.
The shields were enchanted with a special barrier set by Sir Longman, but it couldn't withstand the huge explosions and hits from the tanks. Fire and flames engulfed the area. The tanks continued to fire at their other assigned targets.
"Wizard killed, I repeat wizard killed." The radio went off in the Humvee princess Dianna was occupying.
They killed another one? She thought. At this point, it almost wasn't surprising considering what she has seen till this point, however its still a shock to her. She had thought up till this moment that mana users were one of the most powerful beings in the world. And now she is faced with something bigger. Something more menacing than a rare dragon or Orc.
The battled raged on for another 15 minutes before the field was completely unlike it was before. Knights and mercenaries were being detained by American soldiers everywhere. There were nearly two thousand detainees from the battle. All were male from poor and noble backgrounds alike. Among them was the western regions Duke of Gallegon, the de facto leader of the western region.

Princess Dianna and the lieutenant of 2nd platoon of Eagle company came to meet the Duke who was restrained with zip ties.
"Duke Alan, Its unfortunate to meet you here." The princess enters the tent with the lieutenant. The marines were able to catch him at the western regions camp.
"Princess Dianna! Please spare me!" The Duke was on the ground, begging for mercy. A grown man groveling in front of a 16-year-old girl was a bit odd for the lieutenant.
"Quiet, your fate has already been decided when you decided to betray your oath and vow to the royal house of Astra. I am only here to inquire where you got that experienced mana user who can apparently wield barrier magic, fire, and lightning."
The duke was silent. He wasn't begging anymore. He just lay flat silently. The princess continued. "If you answer, I will give you the mercy of being beheaded at the least. You won't be hung, strung and quartered."
The duke was grasping at straws at this point. However he certainly didn't want to be strung and quartered.
"Your highness, that mana user came from the Tillerian empire."
"The Tillerian empire? You mean to say they helped you overthrown our house?" Dianna was a bit shocked.
"Yes..."
The duke didn't look like he wanted to divulge more information.
"I will speak to his majesty to give you an honorable death."
"Thank you your highness!" The lieutenant and the princess left the tent with the duke groveling on the ground. Her guard Sean was standing guard outside.
"How do you know he was telling the truth Princess?" The lieutenant asked.
"Have you witnessed what a person must go through if they are hung, strung and quartered?"
"No. What happens?" The lieutenant was a bit hesitant.
"A person found of high treason will be hung, then right before death will be cut, disemboweled of their organs while still alive. Their body parts are spread throughout the town as public warnings. Compared to a nearly painless beheading, being quartered is quite brutal. Plus, we will eventually find if he was telling the truth, so we just need to keep him alive until we can verify it." The lieutenant could sympathize a bit with that duke for a moment. Just hearing the types of executions and torture that was allowed was enough.
Eventually, news of operation cull's success came to the white house.
"Mr. president, our forces have successfully secured cultivation town in the kingdom of Astra. We have also begun our offensive into the western region as we continue our advance. At the pace we are going, we will secure the western region faster than the invasion of Iraq."
"Good work chairman." He left after giving his report.
"John, how is that trade deal going?" John was the secretary of state and was currently working out a favorable trade deal.
"The trade deal is looking quite favorable, however we will need to schedule an official talk to establish a trade deal and possibly a security treaty. The situation right now is a bit tenuous though."
"We need to get a move on John. I need something to reassure the American people that we are working on returning to some sort of normalcy. Try and get the kingdom to send a delegation. If not, I will personally head there myself John."
"I will get on that then." John of course would never be able to get the president into a war-torn country. So, he planned on doing the first option. Getting the kingdom of Astra to send a delegation. "Wait, Mr. president, what about the town of cultivation and their knowledge on magic?"
"Put together an intelligence treaty as well. Work with your department to put something together. I want all of that ready before the talks."
"I'll get on it then." John rushed away with a tired expression.
In a house located in the western region, a person covered in burn marks was trying to recover in bed. Servants were attending to Sir Longman after escaping from the battle near cultivation town. He was riddled in black burn marks and wounds all over his body. He barely escaped alive from battled after one of his knights helped him escape.
"Those bastards! All of them! Today I was supposed to get fame and glory!" He was riled up from the pain and hatred which came up from the battle. He coughed up some blood and felt light headed.
"Someone call over my attendant!" He shouted. One of the servants rushed out to call him. His attendant rushed in.
"Sir Longman, what do you need?"
"Get some men to investigate just where those artifacts came from. After you find out, inform my father in the empire on what you found and what happened today."
"Understood." His attendant left while he laid there in pain.

This story is written in third person limited POV. That means you can expect to know many of the thoughts and inner dialog of one character, and only see the actions of other characters. This POV does include scenes without the main character, and thus the reader can and will know things the main character does not. Further, this means characters act on what they know, which is almost always less than the reader knows. Something else to know. These books do not hold your hand. If you're reading it and thinking "Gosh, why aren't 'they' doing some 'obvious' thing." Bad news. You probably missed something that explains exactly that. If you're seeking a light read that doesn't ask much of you as the reader, you're invited and very welcome to come on in, but this might not be the story for you.

But surrounded by creatures he thought only existed in tales and pressed by the Empire’s constant expansion, Jayce’s safety may be only an illusion. To survive a world fraught with danger Jayce will need to grow stronger with each new experience and rebuild his once forgotten house. ********************************************************************** Note: The story starts slow. Although there is more action as the story progresses, there is a fair amount of introspection and character introduction in the first 30 chapters. Jayce is the main character, however, other characters play a large role and the story is seen through multiple POV's. This is a draft, it is not a finished work. This is not a story that focuses on an OP MC who beats up on weaklings. At times there can be a fair amount of internal monologue. Some of that may be edited out when I rewrite the story. I decided to keep it in the draft because I think it is better to have too much material rather than too little when I edit. Constructive criticism is appreciated as it helps in the editing and rewriting process. Check out my other story Shattered Mind here

I promise it won't be terrible! :) Whoops, forgot to mention, prologues don't count as chapters! If you've read this far, I might as well tell you what I was inspired by! However, this does NOT mean my story will be similiar in any way to the novels/stories/books listed below. By 'inspiration,' I refer to mainly how the characterizations plot devices, dialogue, conflict introduction/resolution, and thought processes are used and introduced in those works of literature. But in a way, you can interpret this list as, "if the author read and was inspired by these novels, then it's possible that we share similiar tastes, so I'll give this story a try." :) -Those Who Aspired to Become Gods: A darker fairy tale novel (My all-time fantasy favorite despite it being unfinished) -Forgotten Conqueror (Second all-time fantasy favorite) -Brandon Sanderson's The Reckoning trilogy (Third all-time fantasy favorite) -Kel Kade's 'King's Dark Tidings' -Brent Week's Night Angel saga -Red Rising trilogy -Infinite Realm: Monsters & Legends -Reborn: Apocalypse -Reborn: Evolving From Nothing -48 Hours a Day -The New World -Creep -Arrogant Young Master Template A Variation 4 -Can't Cure Deceit -Super Minion -Unparalleled -Unbound -Wake of the Ravager -Overgeared -Solo Leveling -The Tutorial Is Too Hard [email protected] -God of Money -A Snake's Life -The Snake Report -The Tower of God -UnOrdinary -Release that Witch!
