《The Grand General - MmoRpg》Chapter 15: Comparing

It was when they finished training that Noah got called by Dominik and was told to stay some more time for personal training.
>
Noah firmly nodded in reply to the Head Instructor question, he really wanted to get personally taught by him, even if he had to overexert himself.
What they did was progressing on Dominik sword dance, practice a bit more of dodging, and they even started to have a slight spar where Noah was required to implement the sword dance while dodging. Obviously, it wasn’t a smooth time beginning to implement what he learned in a ‘real’ situation, and he found some difficulty to choose between, now 5, figures that were learned so far. Still, he achieved a sufficient result, or so the Instructor said while halting the exercises until tomorrow morning. After setting an appointment to half an hour before the morning training; Noah logged off and went to bed right away. It was an exhausting day in Vesper and he needed as much sleep as possible, breakfast time was now approaching and he could image having to explain at his parents why he had rushed to sleep the night before, right after dinner, and why he will be late for breakfast.
He set an alarm a bit later than usual, in order to get a couple hours more of sleep and then drowned off immediately.
When he woke up, thanks to the alarm, he found his mother and father on the sofa watching tv and once they noticed him, as predicted, he got asked why he overslept.
‘usually they aren’t so apprehensive, surely is because I’m playing Vesper. They really dislike it, don’t they?’.
>.
Noah felt strange about having this conversation with his parents because, while already a young adult, he never did anything out of the ordinary and just focused on wasting time away, without suffering any sacrifice or enduring any hardships, while now he felt like a fire burning inside him, a desire being born. Likely, his parents felt their son changing and this after only 2 days of playing that useless distraction; it felt like a change for worse though, their son was estranging himself, rebelling even. His resolution was almost affronting, like he already took the decision and nothing could be done about it, while talking with them was just for information sake.

Breakfast ended, Noah ate his energy bar and drank that new vitaminic juice that was getting quite liked by the general population, it was thanks to the rich flavor and nice price, similar as the government one, except it had a whole league of difference in regards as taste.
Noah opened the monitor interface in the kitchen and booked for a couple of hours that the cemetery was unattained, it was right before lunchtime and, usually, were the less frequented hours; who wanted to work right before lunch when it was possible to choose? But Noah didn’t mind it because he felt the need for a good rest and the cemetery was perfect for this, a stress free atmosphere, no loud people, traffic, publicity and he could be alone for the most part of his time; the only obligation he had while working there was to clean some tombs.
Having Booked his working turn, he went to see Vesper forums before going to the gym for some exercises.
The first thing he looked for was about players starting guides. He wanted to know what everyone else was up to and, while not giving any pieces of information on lead characters paths, beginner guides dictated the best route- out of the players direct experience- to follow. While not exhaustive and complete, since it was only a few days that the game was up, they offered a relatively good amount of information; the first and most popular result was a thread with the title of 'Join the Adventurer' guild. It was seen by almost a quarter of Vesper player base, it told to speak with the first NPC they saw standing near the city hall, he then would give a quest to reach the adventurer guild and the first mission would then lead to the adventurers joining the guild. Noah remembered seeing a few people standing in front of the city hall, near the city guards that he went to speak with, apparently they were sent by the guild. Basically, the post content stated that, after following the first ten quests, it was possible to reach level 5 and then, the guild would give out a mission to complete official training, after which, it was then possible to become an official member and carry out quests at the guild.

There was little information of the training content, just that it lasted 2 days and they got taught dodging passive and a basic attack skill suited for their class.
Apparently, it was a different training from the one he was getting, having understood the singularity of his path, he decided to exploit it as much as he could.
It also appeared by what some posts stated that the average level was around 6 right now, making Noah fall greatly behind.
‘ who cares about levels right now, I must go through the training with everything I have. It’s not good to greatly fall behind though, let’s grind a bit and go tomorrow to the gym.’
After looking for some other post by that strange guy who claimed to be a martial art master- who obtained skills ingame from real abilities- and finding none, he went to log in again, there was some killing to be done.
Since it was night and he had little time before having to go to the cemetery, Noah decided to stay near the forest borders and kill horned rabbits again. Thinking so, he went to his room and got everything ready to delve in Vesper.

A King in the Clouds
Tanlar. A cruel, repulsive, and foul word. It meant untitled, officially, but it also meant ungifted, unable, unworthy, unnecessary, unhuman. It was more a curse than a term, a badge only the damned and condemned wore. To be a tanlar was to know your life, your entire being, was insignificant. Once Kaizer had resigned himself to such a fate, but those times had passed. He may have been untitled, but he was anything but untalented. He refused to scrape by at the bottom of society. Those who stood above him could sneer all they liked, but he wouldn’t suffer being stepped on for long. He’d be better, much better. But of course he would be. ‘Fate’ demanded it so. [Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] What To Expect: The story of a boy becoming a man becoming a king + everything that entails. Largely gamelit, but later arcs could be called litrpg. Also schemes. A lot of schemes. I do love some good ol' fantasy politics and intrigue.
