《The Grand General - MmoRpg》Chapter 4 : joining

While making his way through the main road to the west district, Noah gazed at the behavior of these NPCs. He felt like being transported to another world entirely, this game was amazing and it could become really a new, adventurous home for Earth’s people.
Folks on the streets talked between themselves in a real life like way, they conducted trade at the small stalls and negotiated on ware’s price.
After hearing some citizen talking about food, he suddenly remembered that he should get some at the start of the game and, while feeling stupid for forgetting about it, he checked his HUD for an inventory icon.
Having discovered some bread and water skins but with nothing else to show for, except some bronze coins, he started to inspect every icon he could find and the most interesting one was his missions log.
What he found inside was an easy to do: [“Talk with an NPC and get a quest from him”.]
Since Noah couldn’t find any exclamation marks above the head of people he saw on the streets, he decided to keep going to the military camp and try to speak with the instructor or recruiter over there.
After another 10 minutes of walking, he came in front of an imposing looking building with solid walls made of large, brick-shaped rocks that had two guards stationed in front of the doors. He made out a yellow lion emblem on their arms, same as the other guard had on his flag.
Above the building was a red sign with yellow lettering stating: “Southern Army” flanked by two big red flags with the same motif.
Noah entered the building while being surprised by those guards not blocking him, what he saw next cleared his worries. In front of him stood a big hall with open doors guarded by NPCs and a boot with a recruitment sign on top of it.

Apparently this was supposed to be an enlisting office, Noah didn’t wait any longer and made his way to the stall; arriving in front of a young blonde girl, he asked: >.
After being scanned by the receptionist gaze, he got in a calm and sweet voice:
It is pretty simple, actually: if you are willing to enroll in the Southern Army infantry division of Divel city, there will be a period of 1 week of basic training regarding soldier’s techniques followed by a period of city duty guard and after that, you will be deployed on fields around the city. So I ask you, are you willing to be proved worthy to defend this Reign?” >>.
After her introduction ended, Noah got prompted with a message:
[“Are you sure you want to enroll in Divel’s city infantry division? If you do so, you will be assigned weekly with tasks that will reward both experience, monetary rewards and contribution points.
Beware that if you don’t complete said task in a week time, penalties such as being demoted in rank, caged for deserting the Army or even worse, becoming of lawless alignment will occur. Do you accept Y/N? ”]
Noah thought a bit about what this may implicate, he basically got to discover the existence of contribution points, which were bound to be something major since contributing to a country should always reward something, also he found out about ranks and this excited him a lot.
Those penalties didn’t really scare him because he thought there wouldn’t be impossible to do quests assigned, or else who would enlist?
Saying so to himself, he pressed yes.
[“ You are now a follower of South Kingdom Divel’s infantry division. Ranks will be open after you complete basic training to become a soldier. ”]
After successfully enlisting, Odette started to speak again: >.
Surprisingly Noah got his first quest like this, completing the old one who got him only ¼ of his next level; this new quest stated simply to go speak with Head Instructor at the training ground which he did right away.
