《The Forgotten Angels》Chapter 18

When Amy and I reached home, Mother and Melania weren't around, so they must have gone shopping. Shrugging, we grabbed a snack from the kitchen staff and went to our room.

Technically, we have an entire wing to ourselves, but we spend all our time together anyway, so we turned Amy's bedroom into a training area instead.

Our bedroom has two beds covered in pristine white covers and silk sheets. There is a door on the opposite wall leading to a closet filled with every clothing style we never wear and an attached Bathing room. There is two white lacquered desks side by side on the wall in front of our beds. Behind our beds is a floor to ceiling window that runs along the entire wall looking out over the city, or it would be if someone hadn't built a large Arena there.

Stepping in, I handed the worn knife to Amy and went to bathe. Afterward, putting on a white silk top and panties. I walked back into the bedroom, telling Amy, who sat staring absentmindedly at the knife, to clean up. When she returned a few minutes later, she joined me on the bed to do our daily meditation. After we finished, I asked Amy, "when you look at your status, does it sometimes seem like something is missing?"

Amy narrowed her eyes at me. "Did you meditate properly or sit there staring at your status again? -- Nevermind, that blush is answering enough." Then she began tickling me while chastising me.

Breathing hard, I straightened my top and apologized, "I will do it properly next time." Getting serious, I continue. "Really, I swear sometimes I think I see something when I open my status, but it's only for a fraction of a second, and it's gone. I want to ask Tayna, but she is almost always asleep, and when she wakes, I am busy and forget to ask."

With a mock-serious tone, Amy says, "Maybe you really are as crazy as people say," but when she saw me pale, she immediately apologizes. "Sorry, I briefly forgot how they acted today," Then she hooked her arm in mine. "No, you're not seeing things. I have also noticed something strange happen with my status. Plus, we are both stronger than we should be; I mean, your fireballs exploded a goblin, one level higher than us today. Look at this too," she pointed at the spot on her arm, where she got cut earlier, and not a trace of a scratch was present.

Grabbing her arm and hugging it to myself, I tell her, "you need to be more careful, no more injuries, ok."

She swung around, hugging me from behind and laying her head on my shoulder, "ok, don't worry, nothing will happen to me." |

We sat like that for a while, but when I felt Amy's hand twitch, I knew she was about to tickle me again, so I asked. "So is that knife the one from your nightmares?"

Dropping her arms, Amy flopped backward on the mattress. "Yeah, I believe so, but you know how dreams are. It's hard to tell."

Sighing, I lay down beside Amy with my head resting on her outstretched arm. "I felt it, stronger today than ever, that déjà vu, especially when we saw that centaur. It was like a memory wanted to show itself, but something keeps pushing it down at the same time."

"Is it happening around anyone else?" asked Amy, a troubled look on her face.

"Nope, it's only ever when you are involved that the feeling shows," I reply. "The Dungeon seems like it amplifies the feeling." We talked about this for a while but eventually fell asleep.

A couple of hours later, the door to their room opened, and Aleana peeked inside to see both her daughters asleep in each other's arms. Slowly shutting the door, she turned to her husband with a finger over her lips, waving him back down the hall.

As the sun was setting behind that massive arena outside the girl's window, a soft knock woke Amy from her sleep. Groggily looking around, she tried to sit, finding Nalle wrapped around herself. With a sigh, she pried her sister's arms off and pulled down her shirt that had ridden up over her breasts. "Come in," Amy called toward the door.

Soon a maid walked in, seeing Amy's predicament, and grinned at her. The maid walked past into the closet, pulling out a white evening gown, and returned to Amy's side, helping to pry the sleeping Nalle off. After getting the legs unlocked, the maid remarked, "how can anyone sleep so soundly? It's like she is dead."

As soon as she was free, Amy got off the bed, grabbed Nalle's shoulders, and began shaking. When she saw Nalle's eyes twitch, she grabbed the maid and scrambled back as ice spread across the bed. A second later, she grabbed a pillow from her own bed and threw it at Nalle, saying, "really, you need to stop that. It's annoying."

The pillow hit my face before I noticed it, and I let it slide down into my lap. Looking up, confused, I ask sleepily. "what's going on? What time is it?"

Both the maid and Amy just rolled their eyes. Amy went into the closet while the maid walked up to me and said, "up." I lifted my arms, and she took off my top, then sliding a gown down over my head. "Dinner is being served, Miss."

Cringing, I ask, "which dining room?"

"The family dining room, Miss."

With a sigh of relief, I smile, hugged the maid, and ran to the bedroom door, stopping long enough for Amy to catchup wearing the same outfit but silver. "Race you," I say, grinning, then shoot off before Amy can reply. I was excited because eating in the family dining room meant it would only be the four of us, and we could talk to Father without having to feel like we're interrupting something.

Father insists that when we were eating with others, we have to do so in the formal dining hall, which is way too big for a family meal. Also, Fredrick won't be there.

We ran down the long hall in a sprint, passing various rooms, most vacant. When we reached the double doors into the dining area, we both slapped them at the same time, yelling I win. A second later, we heard our father inside, saying, "Hurry and get in here. The food is getting cold." Although he said it in a grumpy way, we could hear the smile in his voice, and sure enough, when we opened the door, he was trying to hide it. Mother just looked at us with her usual warm smile. Mother did, of course, reprimand us for running in the house.

When we sat in our seats, a manservant served the meal. We had steak and vegetables, mashed potatoes, and fresh-baked buns. In the center of the table is a tiny table set just for the fairies, who always seem to be awake at mealtimes, how odd. Amy and I insisted we could give parts of our own portions to the fairies, but the cook seems to enjoy making their tiny platters. In fact, he seems to spend more time and effort on their plates, making them look perfect.

After the food was all placed and drinks poured, mother said grace, and we began eating. I looked at my steak and frowned but picked up my knife and fork, anyway. I don't particularly care for too much meat, but I know the importance of a balanced diet, and the cook only puts as much on my plate as I need.

Amy rolled her eyes at me as she began cutting her steak into pieces. Then she stuck a huge chunk of flesh in her mouth, making pleasurable sounds while chewing. Only stopping when mother glared at her disapprovingly.

Our meal went pleasantly, we chatted about our first real dungeon dive, explaining everything we did and saw. However, we glossed over the gory battles for Mother's sake. When we finished, Father wiped his mouth and asked us to meet him in his study after washing up.

Walking into the study, well, actually, his study is technically the library. But since he is always working at his desk in the back, we started calling it that, and it stuck. The study is massive, with shelves of bookcases covering the room's entire circumference, with a sitting area in the center for reading. Father's study is a desk in the furthest corner from the entry, identical to the one in his office at the guildhall.

Taking seats across from his desk, we wait for him to begin. Currently, he is reading through several reports on his desk. Eventually signing something, he looks up and leaning forward, hands interlocked, he asked us. "Well, what did you think about your dive? Is it something you wish to continue?"

We both nod our heads, yes, and he gives a small smile. "I knew you would; however, I'm afraid the rest of your team will attend their own business for the foreseeable future. Now I Can let you dive just the two of you on two conditions," he said firmly, eyeing us both.

Not wanting to agree to anything without hearing it out first, Amy placed a hand over mine and gave a keep quiet look. Seeing this, Father gave Amy an approving nod and continued. "First, Amy has to change her role to the tank that includes a full plate armor set and exchanging that massive pigsticker you call a sword for one fitting the role."

Amy warily nods that it was acceptable and father continues. "Second, you will not dive past the fifth floor without building a team of at least four that's, including a light mage. It is up to the both of you, but I suggest always taking someone with a scouting ability past the fifth floor."

Hearing this, Amy grinned, and I followed, getting the all-clear from her. But had to ask suspiciously, "that's all?"

This time Father gave a sheepish smile. "Not exactly. Your Mother also has a condition. You both have to go shopping with her once a week, no exceptions." Father coughed into his hand, "starting tomorrow."

Amy smiled, "we're fine with that, but do you know what Fredrick did with both our drops from the boss today?" |

"You mean this," He asked as he pulled a parcel from a drawer, "yeah, I took both of them."

"Fredrick wanted to sell them all and split the profit, but I thought you two would prefer them, especially as they match your outfits, also their self-cleaning. Not to mention Regen gear is rather rare. I can't believe you got two in your beginner dive." After that, we talked more about our dive going into more detail.

"Alright, it's getting late, and I still have some reports to look over. You both go.., do something."

Jumping from our seats, we run around the desk and kiss his cheeks and bid him goodnight. Then head back to our room, as Amy insists I meditate properly before bed.
