《Black God of Lightning.》5. " I'm in some intermediatory place between Heaven, Hell and Earth?

" Where am I? My word this white light is blinding!"
Lucas said and closed his eyes. "Wait, my eyes! I can see! Didn't I die? How am I conscious? I clearly remember that girl that I tried to save. Yes, that girl! But then I got rammed by a bus. Agggh that was so painful! I assumed, I would die instantly and thus feel no pain but in the moment of death who knew every moment is perceived as if it is in slow motion. I literally felt a large vehicle first slam into me and break my bones. This knocked me forward and I landed scraping my skin on the floor. Shortly afterwards the bus drove over me flattening my torso and then my head... " At this moment Lucas was overcome by a stabbing feeling in his "brain".
"Yes, that is what happened! Aaah I feel like I've been hit by a bus" At this moment the white light dispersed and Lucas appeared to be in a white square room with an office desk and at the back of the room was a large golden double door. He was sitting on one chair looking at some old guy who was sitting opposite to him on the other side of the desk. Basically your typical interview scene. This person had a long beard. His wrinkles were quite apparent. He had long grey hair. He was wearing a long white robe and the collars were coloured in gold.
" Good job on keeping your sanity, usually when people realize that they died they go insane wishing for one more chance at life. You have a strong soul." Lucas now looked at this old person in front of him, " Thank you, I don't know what strong soul means but I think credit was due to the fact that in my last moments I was prepared for it and then let death take me away."
The white-bearded old man looked at him deeply, " It's exactly for that reason that I say you have a strong soul. After you die your soul gets transferred here but due to your soul moving from one plane of existence to another as well as it is the first time the soul has been separated from the body. Deteration occurs. Because of this, souls usually, forget many things and became unstable. So when they find out they have died whether they waited for their deaths or it came unexpectedly. It is only natural for a soul to feel out of place and freak out once it regains consciousness" The old man replied with pride as he flaunted his knowledge.

" Your soul, on the other hand, shows no sign of damage, and you kept your sanity when you realized that you had already passed. Honestly, even "strong soul" is an understatement to explain the strength of your soul" The white-bearded old man praised Lucas.
Lucas smiled widely for he was feeling quite flattered then he asked " So I take it that I'm in some intermediatory place between Heaven, Hell and Earth? And you are one of the many workers here who judge whether I'm going to Heaven or hell?" Lucas said as his smile reverted to his normal appearance.
The old man began to laugh loudly and then stood up from his chair started releasing a tiny shred of his aura. White lights started emitting from his body infolding him in a pillar of light. The stationery on the office desk such as the pens and papers seemed to lose all sense of gravity and floated in the air.
Lucas, however, felt like there was so much pressure on him as if he was carrying the weight of the world. However, the energy was not oppressive it was very calm and refined despite its mass.
" You are wrong on many accounts! There is no such thing as Heaven and Hell. When you die, you die!" The white-bearded old man said with his arms crossed and then started dispersing his aura. After it was dispersed he sat down on his seat and began speaking.
" It is true that you die but in some cases there as those who are eligible for reincarnation if their souls are intact as well as have enough strength to move from this plane to another. There is not just one universe. In fact, there are hundreds and thousands of different universes that make up the multiverse. Each universe has it's own God and each God has its workers that work for her or him. Upon death Gods between universes exchange eligible souls of the dead and they are reincarnated as a baby in a new world with no recollection of their past lives"
The white-bearded old man's expression then turned sour, " There is also another way to transfer souls although I find it quite detestable. This is by using a soul migration array. Humans offer their mana to the God that governs over their world as a tribute and as a result, the God of their world will forcefully pull a soul from one world to another or a collaboration between two Gods where a God will send a soul willingly. This can only be done once every 1000 years on the day of "The veil" when the veil between universes is at its weakest. There are limits to who and what can be summoned but I won't go into that now."

The white-bearded old man then returned to his proud demeanour, " Just now you referred to me as some lowly worker of a God. Well, you could not be any more wrong. I am a God but not just any God. I am the God of the entire multiverse. I oversee the Gods that oversee the universes. I oversee all, I see all!"
Lucas was utterly shocked at this, he had just judged the God of the entire multiverse as a worker of a God. If there was a hole to climb Lucas would gladly climb in. But he was confused as to why the God of the universe seemed to take no offence to what Lucas had said.
He then realized that why would the God of the multiverse take offence to what an ant would say to him. It's like throwing a pebble at a ginormous castle and trying to break it. But what really got Lucas thinking was why someone this important was talking to him someone with his position must be extremely busy.
He thought " I'm sure not everyone gets to talk to the God of the multiverse but usually gets the worker of a God and if they lucky maybe the God of a universe or if they even luckier two or more of them but definitely not the one in charge of all!"
The God of the multiverse then saw Lucas in thought so he proceeded with his speech " Now then you must be wondering why I of all beings have summoned you to my presence" Lucas then nodded because he would like to know.
" I did because I can, hahaha!" The Hod of the multiverse laughed in a very slow and deep voice. It was a laugh befitting the God of the multiverse. The God of the multiverse then proceeded again with his speech " Well honestly I saw that you had an abnormally strong soul. As well as that you are being transferred to a new world via the 'soul migration array!' despite dying. This brings up many red flags and so my filter picked it up. "
" I don't think it is any secret to know much I hate the use of that contraption. Usually, after a soul is migrated it is in a weakened state. So after a summoner has summoned the summonee. A curse is instilled on their bodies: ensuring that the summonee never defies their orders. I hate this because just as they have obtained their new life. They are robbed of their freedom and forced to live for someone else. But I do nothing about it because it is a necessary evil..." He then let out a long sigh.
Lucas couldn't understand what he meant by "necessary evil" but then again trying to understand what a God thought. No less what the God of the entire MULTIVERSE thought is the quintessence of vanity. So he never asked about and let it slide.
" Anyway the reason you are in front of me is that for the first time I am going to intervene." He paused after this for a while (pretty sure it was for effect).
"I'm doing it because I find it quite necessary," The God of the Universe said and paused for a second.
Then he said, "I am going to give you a passive protecting spell that will keep you safe from the enslaving spell they will cast on you upon your arrival".

The Ascendant: Endless Reincarnation
My name is Richard Brooks. I died while saving a kid. Kicking the bucket at 28 was really depressing, you know? There’s so much I still wanted to do. But instead of passing on, I was thrust into an endless series of reincarnations. Whenever I die, I earn Karma points based on my achievements and growth. These points can be exchanged for weapons, spells, or other bonuses to make my next lives more interesting. “What kills me only makes me stronger!” Or something like that. Honestly, it feels like I’m stuck in an RPG. The difficulty setting can be pretty ridiculous too. Sometimes all I can do is grit my teeth in frustration as I die an ignoble death. But I won’t complain. Even when it’s dangerous and painful, I love life. This is all an opportunity; I’ll do my best, no matter what kind of sadistic fate the System throws at me. I will swing the warhammer of justice! Craft and enhance the most amazing artifacts! Overwhelm opponents with a barrage of auto-casting spells! Lead powerful vassals in Domain wars! All for the sake of creating an eternal sanctuary. With my unique power of Runecrafting, maybe I’ll even become strong enough one day to overturn fate… or at least find out what the hell is really going on. It might take a few hundred or a thousand lifetimes, but what’s the rush? I have all the time in the world now. (Note: R15+ This is the work of a very inexperienced author with a full time job. Please expect an erratic release schedule.)
