《Listonia Online》Chapter 12 - A little bit of luck

There was a flash of light near the Gate in the Sanctorium Archive and suddenly a wood elf, wearing a green bandana that had a red skull on it and simple green and brown clothes, was standing on the central platform. Immediately after appearing, Gii looked around and then shook his head depreciatingly. He then turned to face the gate and put his hand on it.
Would You like to Teleport to a previously registered Gate?
> >
There was a flash of blue light and Gii's figure was whisked away. When his vision refocused, he was back at the piglet plains where he had met the members of the gaming club. Gii took a moment to sit by the gate and mull over his thoughts.
I miscalculated and got impatient trying to start the quest for the Divine Spark. I should have just focused on the altars.
Truthfully if he had not tried to start the "Dedication to Knowledge" quest and simply focused on defiling the altars of Crassius, he could have avoided this death. Because of the increase to his soul energy loss, it was very possible for Gii to be sent to the afterlife after 3-4 more deaths. Gii had to be careful because he didnt want to go to the afterlife until he was ready and doing so was very likely to mess up everything that he had planned. He pulled up his character window to take a look at his status

This is going to make the last couple of altars that much harder...i'm going to have to find some soul restoration medicine.
Gii had initially wanted to gather the Gates and defile at least 3 altars before he expected to be targeted by the church. However, since he went to an area with high level priests, his poor reputation with that church allowed them receive a divine mission from their god. Since the penalties he would get from each death would only be more punishing as he defiled more altars, this was a concerning factor that would have to be addressed or he would risk going to the afterlife without being fully prepared.
Fortunately Gii had a wealth of knowledge that could assist him and he instantly was able to recall a few quests that would reward players with soul restoring medicine. Althoough they were a bit tedious to do, it was a necessary precaution for him at this point.
I'll have to avoid making a blunder like that again.
Gii then stood up and began running north from this location, except this time he began veering to the east instead of the west. As long as he avoided the area around the Sanctorium he felt it was unlikely for any church hit squad to be sent to search for him at this stage.

You have been playing for an extended period of time, Please make sure you are taking care of your body.
This time Gii ignored the warning from the system as he continued to travel toward his next destination. Eventually the landscape around him began to change from a rocky area with many cliffs to a more flat and barren plain. In the distance he could begin to see the outline to a body of water which he knew to be Kanegar lake. There was a Gate location here that he would need to register before moving on and contuniing to head north.
However as Gii approached the area where the Gate was located, he noticed that there was actually many colored tents and steamers set up. In addition, there were the sounds of music and festivities going on.
The Tyrule Fair!? I guess I'm lucky today!
Gii had just been thinking about how he would most likely need to start a quest that would reward him with soul restoring medicine. This just so happened to be one of those places where he could obtain such a quest! Initially he did not intend to get this quest as it was a huge pain to try and track down the fair and he wasn't too familiar with the details of the questline, but there was no way he would pass up such a golden opportunity.
As he approached the fair, there were many people playing different types of games and minstrels playing music. Gii walked slowly and many of the NPC's didnt pay him any mind as it was not uncommon for travelers to come upon their camp and curiously investigate. There were a couple of NPC's who tried to entice him into different types of transactions but he declined their offers. Gii knew from his previous life that this fair was actually a great place to come into contact with rare items to buy, although he definitely didn't have the funds to buy them currently.
As he walked along he was keeping an eye out for his current target. He came upon a group of people that were sitting at one of the outdoor dining tables and who were a particularly loud and boisterous bunch. Amongst that group he could see a red haired man in his 30's who was wearing some simple looking brown leather armor. Propped up against the table next to him was a large two handed greatsword.
Found him!
Gii approached while the group was distracted by the drinking contest that was currently going on between a couple of their members. The red haired man also seemed to be enthralled with the action as he cheered and jeered with the group before taking a swig of his own drink. As Gii spotted an opening, he quickly approached and reach out for the large bag that was hanging at the mans waist. Before he could pull his hand away with his newly acquired treasure, there was a strong force wrapped around his wrist that prevented him from moving an inch.

"What do you think you're doing?"
"Well you see, I wa-"
Before he could even finish what he was saying, a massive force struck his stomach and Gii was blown back 10 feet.
[-59]
I dont even get to respond?
Although Gii had a wealth of knowledge about Listonia, that didnt mean he knew the details about every single quest. For example, with this quest he knew that the trigger to start it was to try and pickpocket the leader of the Tyrule Fair. He also knew that one of the rewards he would get for completing this quest was a bottle of soul replenishing potion. However, although he might have had some vague ideas, he really did not know the specific details of the quest beyond that.
The red haired man stood up from his seat and walked over to where Gii was lying down. He kicked him over onto his back and then squatted down to look at him. Gii looked at the name above his head.
[Leader of Tyrule Fair Buddy: Level 140]
"You've got some nerve trying to steal from me in broad daylight"
The peanut gallery behind him, which has been quiet with the initial strike, began to speak up in ridicule
"hahaha serves you right for trying to steal from the boss!"
"Did he really think we wouldnt notice!?"
"Lets see how how he tries to get out of this"
Buddy stood back up and took a couple steps basckwards, then spoke to Gii.
"Stand up!"
Gii slowly made his way to his feet and then stood up opposite of Buddy. Buddy seemed to smile after looking Gii up and down once.
"You might be just the person I was looking for, at the very least you have more spine than the people over there"
He motioned towards the crowd standing behind him
"hahahaha yea that- hey wait boss what do you mean by that!?"
"Yea say that again, I dare you!"
"SHUT UP!"
The crowd quieted right down after Buddy's commanding voice boomed outward.
"I'm a very forgiving person. If you can do one thing for me then I would be willing to forget all about this little incident."
Buddy's "Request"
You were caught trying to pickpocket the leader of the Tyrule Fair, Buddy. He has stated that he will look past your transgression as long as you can complete a simple request for him. He would like for you to travel into the capital city of the Holy Union of Bontar, Kanba. While there, you are to locate the shop "The Unicorn's Apothecary" and obtain a certain potion from it and bring it to him.
Quest Reward:
1x Tyrule Fair Token
1x Soul Restoration Potion
Accept?
> >
Gii frowned when looking at the contents of the quest. Honestly speaking, the rewards were actually very enticing, especially the Tyrule Fair Token as it was something that allowed you to locate the fair whenever you wanted. However the location of this quest being the capital city of Kanba made things tricky, as it was also the location of the third altar he was heading towards. No doubt he would stir up a hornets nest when he defiled the altar there and his initial plan was to flee the city and continue to head towards his next destination.
I guess I can give it a shot, worst case scenario is that I fail the quest and no longer have access to the fair.
Gii accepted the quest and Buddy burst out into laughter.
"Hahahaha Excellent, I knew you were the fearless type! Here, take this!"
He flipped a coin towards him and Gii caught it in the air. As he looked at it, he recognized the coin as a Tyrule Fair Token which had the picture of an adventurer pointing on it.
"Just flip that coin and let it land on the ground, wherever he is pointing you will find the fair in that direction."
Gii took a few more minutes to locate the Gate he initially came for and registered it, then he begain the trek across the great Kanegar plains. Unfortunately for Gii, this would be the most tedious part of his initial strategy of registering most of the Gates. The Kanegar plains spanned a massive distance and took up nearly half of the total continent. There were gates located across the entire area and many people in his past life had complained about how much time was wasted trying to register these Gates. Although he did not know if he would use them, he would rather have the ability to use them when needed, than regret not doing this now when he had a chance.
The next few days in-game passed by without incident as Gii ran around registering all of the Gates in the Kanegar plains. He did eventually have to log out for breaks and to maintain his appetite as well as take care of his bodily needs. After a full day had passed in the real world Gii had finally registered all of the most tedious Gates that required the player to run to them. He teleported back to one of the Gates that was close to the main trade route. After traveling a little ways from the Gate, Gii was able to locate the trade route and began following it north towards his destination.
After following the main road, eventually Gii could see the outline of a massive walled city in the distance. The walls were easily over 50 feet high and seemed incredibly sturdy with soldiers patrolling them regularly. Outside the walls were massive fields of wheat, ready to be harvested. Gii could also make out the faint outline of a massive statue that could be seen in the city.
The Divine Capital Kanba
Gii eyed the glorious looking city with determination as he walked forward and traveled through the main entranceway.
