《Undying Soul》Part 06 : Daylen Bright---Chapter 01

In a shack outside Vermilion city.
A brother and sister were eating.
They looked no older than twenty.
“Daylen, the mistress of the pleasure house keeps pestering me. She even threatened your safety, saying that if i do not work for her, she’ll have you killed.” Ella said.
Daylen was not shocked in any way nor showed any emotion upon hearing his little sister’s words.
“My job a the blacksmith’s assistant barely covers our needs, but it is enough for us to fill our stomachs. We will soon have a proper roof over our heads. There is no need to worry about that wench. Once I've saved enough, we will leave to another city and live a better life. You will be able to open that bakery you’ve always been dreaming about.” Daylen said.
Ella thought: “I hope you’re right. If only father was still here.”
“I am going off to work. Keep that dagger on you at all times.” Daylen said before he opened the shack’s humble door and left.
The Vermilion sword was his work place.
His boss Elias, ran a weapon’s shop and employed blacksmiths as well as many assistants.
It was a profitable business as the aura wielders desperately needed his services.
Daylen arrived at his job an hour early that day.
He started by tidying up the room he worked in.
The blacksmith he assisted, Jon, was demanding when it came to the state of his work place.
As he finished with the cleaning, he went to a hidden compartment in a corner and retrieved a rough blade that he’d been working on for weeks.
He started the fire for Jon and proceeded to finish polishing the short blade.
As the hour came to an end, Jon showed his face. He looked somewhat dejected. Daylen did not mind it as it was the same face he was used to seeing for months.
Jon came closer as he watched Daylen work. He said : “A pity. You are by far the best assistant in this shop.”
Daylen was puzzled. He asked: “Why is it a pity?”
“The boss is being pressured by Madame Mira. She wants you gone. It must be hard to have a beautiful sister.” Jon said as he shook his head.
“I lost my job?” Daylen could not believe it.

“Yes.” Jon did not beat around the bush and answered cleanly.
“Can I keep the blade?” surprisingly Daylen did not argue about his loss of employment, but asked about keeping his new short blade.
“I guess you can, but I would advise you to leave the city as soon as possible. That woman... she is crazy and you got on her bad side... Here...this is your pay for this month and the next...this is all I can do for you. ” Said Jon as he handed a pouch of gold coins to Daylen.
Daylen took it and said no more. He just left.
He went straight back to the shack. Almost running.
When he arrived he found that Ella was gone. She had left a message saying : “Went to the market.”
“Did she know I would come back this early?” Daylen asked himself. He would always come back home just before sunset.
He waited.
Several hours later, his patience had run dry.
Ella arrived with a smile plastered on her face.
Daylen who was impatiently waiting outside the shack went to her and said : “ What took you so long?”
“Madame Mira had told me that if I refused, she would make sure you lose your job so I went to look for provisions. We have a long road ahead of us.” Ella said.
“You could’ve just told me. I was so worried and did not know what do to other than wait for you to return.” Daylen said. He continued: “ It’s still early. We can make it to the nearest town if we leave now.”
They left.
Several days later.
Darkforest city.
“This king of ours has gone crazy...living in dreams...is that even possible?” Ella said.
They found a nice lodging in Darkforest city and were now talking about the recent launch of the Dreamscape, The way.
“It is entirely possible that he is telling the truth. ” Daylen said.
“This is unlike you. Believing in nonsense. The whole world is laughing at the king and you are the only one who believes him.” Ella said.
“Yes. I f such a world exists. A world in which I can gain my own aura, my own abilities, the power to protect you, I would gladly give my soul to the devil god of his.” Daylen said.

A distant laugh was heard as an old looking book magically appeared in front of Daylen.
Ella screamed as a strange gleam appeared in Daylen’s eyes.
The book opened and a random page was revealed.
Name Daylen Bright Race Human Level 0/100(No aura.) Abilities Terrakinesis(Post divine stage) Pure crystals 2
Several lines appeared
--Initiation --Remote Soul ignition
.....
--Aura acquired
.....
--Remote power infusion --Available crystals: 2
....
--Levelling up to Divine level
Two pure crystals appeared out of nowhere and entered Dylan’s chest.
He instantly reached the divine stage in both body and soul.
--Bloodline ability acquired: Terrakinesis
Daylen felt that the earth was like a third arm to him. His heart beat at he same time the earth did.
“This is exactly what I wished for.” He said as he felt the change in his body.
He looked at his startled sister before he turned to look at the grimoire.
It showed new stats.
Name Daylen Bright Race Human Level 12/100(Divine stage) Abilities Terrakinesis Pure crystals 0
As he looked at it, he thought about the dreamscape.
--Enter the way?
The grimoire asked.
He looked back at his sister. He wanted to explore the dreamscape with her.
--She has to believe first.
The grimoire answered.
He was not afraid at his grimoire being able to read his thoughts but instead became a witness to his sister acquiring a grimoire.
It seemed that Ella had come to believe in the existence of the way after seeing it happen before her eyes.
As she was from the same bloodline, Ella inherited the same terrakinesis ability as her brother.
“Looks like this king was crazy after all. In a good way.” Ella said as she flew out of the apartment under the surprised gazes of the crowd below. A bright red grimoire was following her.
“Yeah. We were only mortals without aura minutes ago.” Dylan followed behind her.
The ability to fly was the easiest one they could use even if they flew awkwardly in the first moments.
They found a barren mountain that they transformed into a home of their dreams.
Their terrakinesis was dificult to master at first but they had an entire mountain to hone their skills.
Nothing could be seen from the outside that the mountain had been midifies from the inside. It was the best and safe place to privately enter the dreamscape.
“I cannot wait to enter this dreamscape.” Said Ella as she waved her hand and a brightly lit room appeared behind a rolling boulder.
Daylen was already in his room and was playing with the grimoire. He was asking a bunch of questions about the world they lived in.
“I reckon that even the intelligence reports of the assassin guild
pale in comparison to this grimoire.” Daylen said before he added:
“See you in the dreamscape.” He closed his eyes and put his head on a stone pillow.

“Sir... Are you alright?” A distant voice was heard.
“Hum?” Daylen woke up.
He was so startled that he ended up in the air above a crowd of a few dozen.
His eyes were greeted by a rising sun.
“This is impossible...it’s like nothing has changed.” Daylen said as he saw the city below him.
He thought he was transported to another part of the Shadowthorn continent, if it was not for the grimoire telling him otherwise.
A map of the city had appeared on the first page as well as a message on the next page.
Welcome to the way. Curently at: Falcon square, Southedge city, Southedge country, Falcon Empire, Light faction.
“Ella.” His sister’s whereabouts was the first thing he thought about.
He looked left and right and only saw a scattering crowd.
He descended and inquired on the first person closest to him. It was a young woman. He ignored her strange cat ears and scarlet eyes as he asked: “Have you seen a woman around your age wearing a blue dress and has long blue hair. She should have appeared in the vicinity.”
The cat eared woman scrutinized at the strange grimoire next to Daylen and said:“ You’re a dreamwalker. A dreamwalker’s first appearance is random. Chances are that the woman you are looking for is halfway across the planet.”
“No...” A hopeless Daylen buttered.
“You can see each other outside of our world. Or you can send a message through your grimoire.” With that said, she disappeared into the crowd, leaving him alone in an unknown world.

After rushing to help support the Human Kingdom capital against the assault, the magician is met with the sight of his beloved city razed to the ground. The magician fights off whatever invaders he can, using whatever tactics he knows, but he is eventually felled in combat due to the superior abilities of the invaders. However, death is not the end! The magician reincarnates, awakening as a citizen of the empire which conquered his home! Author's Note #3: Okay, that's the end for me. This is too boring for me to continue writing, and I've gotten back to writing Reborn as a Dungeon Core in an Apocalyptic World. At 26,772 words, this has gotten too boring for me to continue. I'm probably going to take this basic story and rewrite it into something way better w/ longer chapters, but at least I had fun for the six days it took to write this much. PS - Love the reviews; they're great. Way to go, dude with 22 thumbs up and 0 thumbs down!
