《First Draft》Basic Introduction That Doesn't Really Matter

Are you an idiot? Yes? Good. Now, as a kid, I once thought that words could change the universe. Magic, runes, words, anything. I just thought that the world ran on movement, science, and words. Now that I'm older, I can admit to knowing better. The world runs on movement and science. On action, and words are useless. You may disagree. Hitler didn't kill the Jews with Mein Kamf, though, did he? Peaceful protests never worked- but war has. The only thing people understand, the only thing that gets through to idiots like you and I, is the bad events that lead up to a change in perspective. Words? They can change that. The only thing that gets through to idiots like you and I, and your friend, and his, and hers, ongoing until you have a large group? Either being physically proven wrong, or being physically forced. Idiots like you and I? Simple "evidence" isn't enough to make us change our ways, is it? No, because despite 90% of things telling us we're wrong, we "know" the truth, right? We find factoids on the internet and believe them, or we trust what our double-digit IQ family members said, or, in the case of undeniable evidence, we simply deny it. When I was a kid, I wanted to change the world. Now, though? I know that changing the world is impossible without a powerful army at my disposal, and fistfuls of loyalty to boot. I've given up. So I go out to get cheap thrills, or do and say stupid things. I do anything to distract myself from the state of the world, ignoring the riots, burning flags of a country I love too much to say the things I do about it, and keeping out of politics.

It would be a lie to say that the whole world was in anarchy. Money still worked to get food, companies still ran, stuff like that. It's just... we had no leader, and the UK was gone. A show of peace from Russia when the UK got permission from the UN to send nukes America's way. Poor Ireland didn't deserve to be vanquished, but the islands were small, and the nuclear blasts very, very large. In any case, the large corporations of the world banded together to keep the world running as it dissolved into what would be anarchy without them, and so you'd see odd images. McDonalds' making deals with NASA. Walmart and Amazon merging with Burger King and Toyota. Weird stuff like that, just to keep the world running. All the billionaires' and millionaires' banding together to run broken lands, their money meaning nothing unless they wanted it to.

All of the above, while important, is more of a back-story than a focus of this particular story, though. It just explains why things were allowed and unquestioned to the point they were. It all started after the above did.

A/N: I can't add an actual chapter until after the story is accepted. Why is this a thing? ... Probably a good thing.
