《Epoch》Act 1 Epilogue

I flew above the city of Chronos. I detected a burst of time energy in the area not that long ago. I had already tracked the previous source to the ruined human city, but failed to find my target there.
I wasn’t sure why the previous energy was in the ruins. Surely whatever person being led around by the pig should have entered the tower first and foremost. I failed to spot anyone abnormal though, even as the ruler of space itself, I cannot be everywhere at once. Chances are I simply passed by the cursed individual.
Tch. Annoying. If only I had some help.
I gazed below at the ground. The eruption of magic came from the center of town. Next to the Tower itself. I flew down nearby into an alleyway. Fallen don’t take it well when they see another of their kind flying.
I exited the alley to the sight of several of the city’s guard clearing people away.
I eyed the scene to see two bodies that had been partially covered in a blanket. I couldn’t see their faces, but one seemed to be wearing a heavy armor while the other’s deep crimsion wings sprawled out. The area around the two bodies was ruined with gashs in the ground and what looked like the remnants of a flame encircling the area.
What in the world happened here? Was this a distraction so the cursed one could enter the Tower? They must not have appropriate requirements then. It was the only logical answer I could come up with. My temporal counterpart is a monster…
I noticed a few guards surrounding what appeared to be a mage girl, if her apparel was anything to go by. The devastation on her face was apparent, as she was questioned by the guards.

I approached them. Their words soon became apparent.
“-Already told you I don’t know. He just went berserk. I’ve never seen anything like it before.” The girl said.
“And the other male you spoke of?” One of the guards asked.
“He left.” The girl said.
“Where?”
“I don’t know! I keep telling you this!” The girl cried, I could see her eyes getting moist
“Two of your friends died and you’re telling us a third one killed them and you just let him run away?”
The girl put her talons on head, holding it and looking away. “I didn’t let him run away, and he didn’t kill both of them. I just- Gruce killed Lyra, that guy, Lyra’s friend, was about to get killed too. I don’t know. I don’t get it. It was supposed to just be a simple fight over a trinket. Nobody was supposed to get hurt.”
A trinket? This ruined area was caused over a fight for a trinket? This just wasn’t adding up. Something was influenced here. Nothing like this happened before. Questions questions.
By the sounds of it, this girl didn’t really know much, and I couldn’t ask the other two. After all, they were dead. Assuming the world repeats itself again, they won’t even remember dying, let alone why they were killed.
That left the mysterious fourth person. The one who left the scene. I had a feeling if I could find them, I’d have the answers I seek.
Time to search them out.
An unknown figure stood in an unknown area. The darkness of the room was barely illuminated by a few small flames that decorated the walls. No, the only thing that truly could be seen was the monitor that the figure stared at intently.

The person sat on their throne, watching a display of a young Fallen and his spirit guide talk in front of a computer.
“Hehehehe… under a lake! This was such a great idea! Much better than the last time! Oh I had my doubts, but this is so entertaining!” The figure laughed, his hand running through his hair.
The figure poured himself another glass of wine, as he watched the Fallen and the god bicker. He took a slow sip. They just didn’t make wine the same after humanity died out. It was one of the many things he missed from his species.
“Now then ‘Feathers’. How will you continue on from this point?” The figure asked no one in particular.
Yes, that was question. A new challenge, another point to the story. How could this surprisingly entertaining cat-bird entertain the human more?
Only time would tell.
