"Well shit"
He muttered as the giant blade was coming towards him.
Crash
The ground was crushed at the swing of the stone giant and send debris flying everywhere and left a hole at the spot of the impact.
The giant lifted his blades and stared at the hole and the human was nowhere to be seen.
"Foolish wanderer.....to step foot into this sacred place without proper qualifications you resigned yourself to death....."
the giant spoke as he walked and shook his head and walked towards his original position once again.
"too weak to be destroyed by one strike of my blade....."
As the statue was saying he couldn't find the trespasser anywhere.
But all of a sudden a voice could be heard.
"Ahhhh....seriously first getting shot in the throat then falling to the floor which didn't hurt much but still was a pain, getting burned but guess that was a blessing and finally transferred to an area greeted with a bloody sword, man.....and I still haven't taken up my own job and skills....can't even have a proper tutorial and sent me straight to a fucking boss fight....that God doesn't follow rules...eh who am I to judge?"
The statue looked for the source of the voice but he couldn't see it. But then he saw movement below him and spotted the source of the voice and saw the white-haired man leaning against his leg scratching his head.
The giant stared at him and Edward stared back and after 10 seconds of intense staring, someone broke the silence.
"what?"
Edward muttered
And without warning the giant stepped on Edward but he quickly moved from his spot and hid behind the giant's other leg and the process repeated itself the giant stomping the ground trying to get rid of the pesky intruder while Edward dodge like roach not getting hit even once.
"No no no, you need to feel the stomp otherwise you won’t get the rhythm now once again one, two, three one, two, three"
He nonchalantly said as he moved between the guardian swiftly manipulating the giant into dancing tango.
With a growl, the giant stared at the man as he realized he was making him out of a fool realizing what he has been doing.
The sight looked like a man trying to stomp an insect but to no avail and after 10 minutes of dancing, he stopped And jumped high up and crashed into the ground with his feet.
"Face me, intruder! I know not how you came to this place but you are not an ordinary man, nevertheless, I will end you now face me!"
The stone giant yelled as he scanned the area for Edward.
He was nowhere to be seen but a voice came out of nowhere
"Well, I guess that's enough fun but it was nice seeing a statue dancing even though I can only give it a 5 out of 10."
Edward said towards the giant but he was nowhere to be seen.
"I am no intruder I have come here for the purpose of the trials of the chosen."
The giant seemed to quiet down as he spoke this words.
'Did it work? well, I guess this thing has a mind after all then I ca-'
but his thoughts were interrupted but a loud shout.
The giant stopped his movements and became somewhat irritated.
"You have no right to partake in the sacred trials! As you need to become a champion of the Gods to even know it"
The giant stopped his movements and became somewhat irritated.

"I, Aretzal the Judger, was tasked by the Great God himself to guide those chosen by the Gods to claim their new strength in order to serve their Gods in Eos! I will not let an unworthy human like you to desecrate the trials with your presence!"
He shouted loudly enough for it to echo inside the room.
"And all the Gods have picked their champions every one of them! No God that exists has not chosen their champion so you are nothing but an intruder! As the guardian of the trials of the chosen, I will eliminate you for trespassing" with that silence came.
No movement came for a while until something tapped on the giants head but rather than tapping it was more like stomping hard on its head.
"*sigh* Really for a keeper of the trials you are doing a rather sloppy job other than the fact that you can't stop a single intruder, danced like a stone statue all the offence how you take it and then you can't even sense if a champion came here, really you should have a career change maybe become a hill and let someone plant some trees on you so you won't have to be grumpy"
The giant dropped one of his swords and tried to grab the man on his head but only grabbed air as Edward jumped down from his head to his shoulders.
"Really can't you just check if I'm a champion I even have proof of it"
He exclaimed but was met with a flying fist straight to his position but jumped out of the way and now standing on one of his arms holding a sword.
"Silence! I will not be tricked by the likes of you!"
With a voice full of irritation the giant swung another blade towards him but impacted with the one he was standing on and broke the two blades but made him dive down to the floor dodging the shattered pieces but just barely as some shards were stuck on his clothes and pierced one of his arms making it bleed.
-Ah, damn it! Seriously...I just got healed now I'm fucking bleeding again, just great-
He then stared at the giant and he was about to swing his blade again but this time he didn't dodge and stood on his spot and loosened his buttons and opened his vest.
Just inches before the sword hit him it stopped inches away from his head.
The giant seemed to be petrified as he saw the mark on the so-called intruder's chest.
"So? Is this proof enough? Once again I am Edward Dreyer the Champion of Merrick, the God of chaos and I'm here to take on the trials! now do your job and show me the way"
He said smirking as the mark glowed with a deep reddish black glow.
A light black ring was on top of his chest accompanied with deep red spots outside the ring outlining it and giving it a red glow the center of the ring was empty-seeming to miss a symbol.
The giant stared at him for a while not moving his arms for about a minute and stared at the mark.
He then slowly raised his swords and seemed to have a grim expression but was hard to tell with him being a stone-faced giant.
"That mark....but he was supposed to be gone they all.......no this feeling cannot be imitated no matter what even if it is still incomplete..he must be alive then... You...you were telling the truth" he spoke trying to find fault in his words but couldn't.

Edward glanced at his left chest where the mark was located and stared at the giant.
'Heh...it looks quite ominous....but like he said it's incomplete...I need to finish the trials and then the mark will come'
"Now then let me take the trials so I can get my job and skills"
He said as he walked towards the giant and smiled at it mockingly.
He spoke as if knowing everything about the trials which he, a newcomer and someone who just got dragged from another world shouldn't have the faintest idea what to do as the giant's task was to guide him. Despite that, he spoke with confidence because he knew.
How?
Simply because of the book, Merrick gave him which he scanned for five minutes, but it wasn't an ordinary book but some sort of guide about the world he was going to and it had a beginners section which he finished already.
The giant stomped the ground and 2 stone swords appeared and wielded it then he spoke.
"Follow me....and forgive me for my insolence champion I will fulfill my duty and guide you."
The giant stated
Edward waved his hand signaling to make him show the way.
He moved towards a wall which had 4 indents on it and Edward followed behind walking at a brisk pace and stopped in the middle of the room staring at the giant in front of him.
He positioned the four blades on the indentions and inserted them in at the same time and then turned the hilts making some noise. The sound was like a lock releasing as the door in front of them parted and 5 portals opened in front of him.
Edwards' eyes grew wide and a big smile appeared unbeknownst to him as he stared at the colorful swirl of energy that appeared out of thin air.
-I know I'm supposed to be calm but...It's a fucking portal!-
Edward thought to himself as he grinned him seeing all these things for the first time made him excited and was raring to go inside but as he was ready to walk towards it the giant stopped and placed himself between the door and Edward.
Edward looked at the giant and sighed
"Isn't your job to guide those chosen not stop them?"
He spoke but was met with a sword thrown towards him.
He quickly jumped to the right just barely dodging the flying lump of stone that was aimed at him but was thrown off by the large impact of the blade and debris flying.
As he stood up the giant was making his way towards him seemingly doing a big 180 from what he said and a dark red glow was seen from his eyes rather than the green glow it had at the beginning.
/Tsk...seems like I can't have it easy.....well I already knew someone was going to stop me but I guess someone that's powerful enough to control a giant and force him to abandon the order of that high god..damn it,some of this are only speculations but I don't have enough info..hmm?/
His thoughts were interrupted by the Giants' voice.
"End....me...Cham.pion...take....the cor...e inside..m...e...."
The Giant seemed to be using his last moments to relay a message and then a window appeared in front of him with a chime.
QUEST ALERT:
QUEST ALERT:

He stared at the window and let out a sigh.
"Seriously, this life will be a pain.....I still don't have a bloody job and I'm fucking sure I can't kill that thing by punching it....and all I have is a book....well I guess that would be enough to win against a walking mountain"
He said as he swiped the window and it magically disappeared. He then slowly stretched and looked at the giant.
"I don't know who you are but just let me pass and I took a liking to that big block of rock so let him go already"
He yelled out but he was met with silence.
-guess I got no choice....-
He then walked towards the giant slowly at first but then sped up into a full sprint.
The giant seeing this he prepared 4 new blades and walked ran towards Edward prepared to end the one in front of him.
Edward was only a few feet away from him and took something from inside his vest and when the giant swung the blade he pressed the button.
Boom!
A loud explosion echoed and with a thud the giant kneeled and dived towards the ground as one of his legs was gone and only left with a stump. After a few seconds a red glow formed around the leg and started to regenerate and from a new one but before it did another explosion happened.
boom boom boom
But it wasn't just one explosion but a series of smaller ones.
"Guess I was lucky I didn't need to use all of the explosives back when I hunted Giovanni....guess I owe Vlad some thanks"
He talked as he jumped on the destroyed leg and made his way up towards the back of the giant where he saw a hole and peeked inside.
The explosives he used were supposed to be used against Giovanni's group but he was met with the bodyguards before he set the rest leaving it with him.
-I got 15 secs before he closes up but he said a core inside him and the book also had told me about it-
He then entered it and after 10 seconds and jumped out before the hole repaired itself making him jump from about 20 ft and made him roll to stop some impact but not all of it as shards of rocks were scattered on the ground.
His whole body had scratches and his right arm was still wounded from earlier now his clothes were covered with dust and had a few rips in them.
With a roar, the giant rose from the ground and its face slowly reformed and started to begin his assault Edward once again.
He ran towards the middle of the room with the guardian in tow dodging blade strikes that was aimed at him.
But the giant slowed down and his strikes became fewer until a loud thud was heard behind him.
With a smile, he spun on his heel and stared at the giant that laid behind him and it's head staring at him as it stretched its hands trying to grab him but it was futile as its hand dropped towards the ground.
Edward casually walked towards the giants head and glared towards the red eyes that were losing its glow and in his hands was an Azure blue crystal about 7 inches long.
He smirked as he juggled it with one hand.
"Try harder next time alright?"
The red glow vanished and left the giant and slowly the rocks started to turn to dust.
"You've been relieved of your duty Aretzal...."
He said with a slight hint of sadness.
The crystal that was powering the powerful guardian was now being mindlessly juggled by him.
/guess without this he'll turn to dust...I still wanted to play around with him and maybe have him as an underling..*sigh....*
He sighed
"I would have wanted to just run at full speed towards the portal but it's not every day you get to fight with a guardian and I needed to see if I can defeat it....but still damn my arm hurts...."
He mumbled as he saw a large stone shard was protruding from his left arm.
As he was speaking a chime came and a new window appeared.

With a sigh, he walked towards the portals and placed the crystal in a pocket inside his vest.
-Deterred? Well, I guess I don't even have a bloody level yet so I can't say anything but I almost died and had to use explosives to kill that thing and all I get is a shiny light bulb.....well maybe I can find a way to use it still I was hoping for at least a single weapon-
He shook his head and walked towards the door that the fallen guardian left.
.
.
.
.
.
As he passed the giant double doors he was welcome with a chime and a message
NOTICE:
-You have entered the chambers of the trials you cannot leave until you finish every trial. Your reward will be given based on your performance and your god.-
He sat down next to a wall removed his clothes and cleaned his wounds with a handkerchief.
He then gripped the shard that was embedded in his left arm and pulled it out and blood rushed out
"kek...ahhhh I'm getting soft...it didn't even went that deep..now other parts...."
He removed some shards here and there and ripped some parts of his shirt to bandage his wounds and after he patched himself up and rested for a while.
Edward kept glancing at the portals in front of him and can't contain his excitement as he stared at the portal.
"Finally....after a short rest I'll take the first one....and luckily It will be a walk in the park.."
he sighed and shook his head
"yeah right...."
He then closed his eyes and tried to relax.

Ancient Mana Dungeon Core.
Yes the tags are necessary, they will make sense eventually too. Art is not mine, found it on pintrest btw the title on the thing apparently has no name, or at least no title that you can search, at least, but i found this: ‘ArtStation - [UE4] Lost Temple Ruins Jonas Axelsson’ (if your curious I was searching ancient temple game art when i found it don’t bother clicking the link on the thing that says facebook, it does not work) (i will not lie this is kinda my first publication so go easy on me). A while ago I fell in love with the Dungeon Core stories and decided: ‘Heck, why not make my own spin on things!’ and so i started brainstorming what to do and i kinda just found the idea for the story during it. This is the story of a guy named Michael Alex (not a typo that is the name I will be using for him) he was an avid fiction writer and reader who was just sitting on his couch playing a puzzle game on his phone called: Ruins of Drailmor Keep (a three in one deal: tower defence, Puzzle (mazes generally), and world building (namely building on the ashes of fallen empires and regulating certain things while the waves of enemies keeps coming back to burn it down and ruin it just like the curse would while ocasionally sending out your own monsters to get rare rescources)) when he gets an alert and well one thing leads to another and he died to a freak avalanche. He then comes into contact with the universe's will (basically something that *insert your prefered deity here* cooperated with to make the world (heaven, hell, the mortal world, yggdrasil, basically every "world" that has been made (in reality, mythology, games, books, cartoons/movies, and memes!) but also had a mind of its own at the same talk.) and Michael and the Universe’s Will talked and this story is about the outcome of said discussion.
