Chapter one hundred and nineteen
We were still hugging while looking out the window when I heard sharp and crisp footsteps approaching us from behind. I let go of Delilah and turned around wondering who it could be.
It turned out that the sharp and crisp footsteps were being made by a pair of hard soled white dress shoes that looked rather expensive tapping on the marble floor. I wasn't sure but something told me that these shoes were not made from bleached leather but the hide of something a little more exotic. The only thing I could think of was the almost extinct African Albino Rhino which would make these shoes very expensive not to mention very illegal.
I looked up from the shoes and watched dear old grandpa in his expensive white suit walk towards us with a brisk pace. Now that he wasn't sitting behind a giant desk, I could see that the old geezer was actually quite fit. His body was quite stocky and it looked like it was capable of exhibiting a lot of strength. He didn't stoop like most old people, in fact his spine was ram rod straight as he took large strides towards us. His old wrinkled face looked out of place perched upon his well built body.
"Sophia, I'm glad I found you before you left."
"Why? I've already rejected your offer to join the coven."
"That is only secondary, the main reason I called you here is to ask for your help."
Help? He wanted my help? This guy has an army and was chummy with what I was sure was a decently powerful coven. Why would he need my help?
My thoughts must have shown on my face because he continued to speak, "I really do need your help. We have a situation developing that could have disastrous consequences for the entire world. We are already using a lot of our resources to keep things contained but we are failing miserably."

"Why don't you just ask your little witch friends for help?"
"Look, I'll be honest. Kazimir has already told me that you are very capable and from what I have seen so far he is probably right. You are powerful. My sister might be stubborn at times but even she has admitted that you would be a valuable addition to the team we are sending. I'm not asking you to join the coven Sophia but I am asking you to work alongside them to prevent something horrible from happening."
"Grandfather, do you know what kind of people you are asking me to associate with? Do you know how they got their power?"
"I know. I know they use human sacrifice and pain to get power but it is not what you think Sophia. They are not bad people. They do not use innocents in their rituals. In fact they have been working with us for quite a while and by us I mean the Russian government. They are stationed in most of our black facilities as interrogation specialists. They gain their power by torturing and killing terrorists and murderers."
"Do you also know that their souls have been corrupted by what they did? Do you know that the blood that they had shed clings to them and affects who they are?"
For the first time since I met him, the inscrutable and cold expression on his face melted away and I saw a flash of pain deep in his pale blue eyes before he recovered and covered it up with his normal expression.
"I know. I know the price that they have to pay for the power they use to protect people. I know the struggle they have to face every day to stay sane because I have seen it in my sister. We know the consequences Sophia. We had to kill more than one family member that had gone insane because of the power but we have no choices. We needed someone to fight all the things that go bump in the night, the things that normal people should never know about and only those who have agreed to it are inducted into the coven. But now things have changed. More and more powerful things are crawling out of the woodworks and the coven is struggling just to keep things together."

His explanation made me feel a little sorry for my great aunt and even a little guilty about how I had acted previously. If what he said was true then I had been a total jerk but even now I still didn't want to work with them. They might have done what they did for a good cause but they are no longer the people they were when they started. They have been twisted by their power. Grandfather might not know but what the government was doing is similar to keeping a pet snake. When they decide that they no longer needed the government, they are probably going to be a bigger problem than the ones they are suppressing.
"*sigh* Fine. I will help with your world threatening problem."
"Really? You don't even know what the problem is or where it is and you simply agree?"
His choice of words was kind of strange. Yeah, not knowing what the problem is and agreeing may sound stupid but why would the location matter that much?
"It doesn't matter. If the world truly is in danger then I'll help no matter what the problem is. As for the location, why would it matter? There is nowhere in Russia that could scare me away."
He had a strange humorous glint in his eyes as he spoke.
"The place isn't in Russia. It's in Ukraine."
"Wait, you mean....?"
"Chernobyl."

Grey Worlds
A mysterious incident occurred on a otherwise normal science centered world where all of the children from the age range of eight to sixteen suddenly vanished. “Where have their kids gone and will they ever return?” The now childless parents never got to really ask that question, because a strange new element replaced their lost children. This element slowly mutated the various animals that they once ruled over with their technology to the point that they were immune to their modern weaponry. The barren land of savages on a continent far away from theirs also had their children taken, but they easily mutated just like the beasts and only grew stronger thanks to the incident. A revolution of animals eventually took place after the mutations started to cause the animals to understand just how badly the humans ruined their lives and planet. Humans were the slowest to figure out how to use this strange new element to evolve, while their opponents were evolving and growing stronger by the day they couldn’t even surpass their modern technology. When humanity was on the brink of extinction a long forgotten event finally ended and their children finally started to return from the various worlds they were summoned to! It turns out that the mysterious new element that they didn’t know what to call was mana and that it’s everywhere in some fantasy planets. The children brought back a increase in technology and techniques to grow stronger with, which caused the humans to finally be able to build safe havens for their race. They grew stronger and started to finally adapt to their brand new environment. This is the story of a orphan who was taken away from his world, before he could gain a sense of attachment to the world. Who only has his older sister to care about and how he ends up adapting to the new world in front of him.------------------Dog notes by doggo First 'five' chapters aren't what the story is really about and is more of a prologue. The reason why some are separated into parts is because Doggo originally posted them as a entire chapter. The main setting is Ghost's actual world and not any foreign world. So this story was already posted once to another site or this site three years ago… and Dog is finally ending that three year hiatus! The explanation on why Dog was on a three year hiatus would of been written in the review section, but rrl doesn't allow self reviews. I'd have to create a alt just to self review which they obviously don't want even tho I'd not give myself any stars so its going to be here instead. The update schedule is a chapter a week till Dog get a editor and then two chapters a week till Dog gets enough money to pay for Dog’s bills. The final goal is to release a chapter every other day. Dog writes 4k word chapters so they are about twice as long as some of the other authors so every other day is actually more like once a day. ------------------- The part that was supposed to be the 'review' which Dog wont bother editing out repeat infomation since it wasn't supposed to go here in the first place. The first thing Dog will go over is what changed for the first 5 chapters, so that anyone who still remembers Dog's little novel and wants to continue from where Dog originally left off can decide whether or not to reread it. Also Dog is moving over to qidan simply because dog like the app they have. Dog won't go premium even if Qidan tells dog to and will simply move back to royalroad or create a blog. The things that changed over the years are mainly two important things. The first is that Dog changed the first person point of view to a third person, because Dog read a really bad first person novel and it reminded dog of dogs own novel. Dog also changed the thoughts of the character to be - - instead of italics. Finally dog changed chapter 3 completely to make the mc not seem like a homicidal maniac and introduced a important character in chapter 3.What happened to do in the three years that dog was away? Was dog at college and now needs money to eat? Was dog off in space after successfully becoming a astronaut and has now returned home with a completed novel or two? The answer is actually quite plain dog graduated from highschool and was supposed to only spend a year at dogs owners house to choose what major dog wanted to go to college for.Dog didn't do that and is still stuck with dogs owners and is sick of being a neet. Dog wants to move and buy doggy food, but dog is antisocial and doesn't want to work a simple 9 to 5 job for the rest of dogs life. Dog is a reader before dog is a author and the reason why dog got into writing was because dog wanted to write a novel without all the things dog finds annoying. Dog spent the first year reading various novels and dropping various novels. Dog is all caught up and has to much free time on dogs paws. The first year that Dog took off was the very same year that qidan came out so dog was naturally overloaded with free chapters. But now that pemium exists dog naturally has to limit the amount dog can read. Dog is addicted to reading like my very own readers and can understand your frustrations for dog disappearing for 3 years.Dog decided that dog will go back to writing 2 years ago. Dog wanted a decent stockpile incase dog has any other emergency so dog didn't post for a year but then dog decided to change the point of view which took another year.Dog has a patreon page https://www.patreon.com/mclaindog but there isn't any tiers there or goals till dog gets a editor. My final goal is to release a chapter every other day, but as long as Dog gets a editor Dog will do two free chapters a week.Dog will probably also make a kofi for anyone who just wants to send dog a tip and can't afford to donate money monthly while maybe having bonus chapters if the tip jar gets filled.

Bound by Fate
A young orphan who defied his fate and fought his way to success and love, dies at the threshold of his happily everafter. Only to be offered a new life in a new world. He starts with everything he lacked in his past life but must still fight to keep it all. In a world where power is everything, where gods are real and scheming, devils and demons abound, where magic is just another branch of science and talking animals a pain to deal with, he is bound by his fate to defy fate. ---- Author's Note ---- Its the first time I am letting a story escape my head. I aim to intially release one chapter a week as I build my confidence and the story. When I get to a point where I am able to churn out a chapter regularly on the same day and time per week, then I will aim to eventually get to 2 chapters a week and then to 1 every other day. I hope I can learn to tell my stories well and put something up that's enjoyable.
