《A Different Kind of Hero (-)》Chapter 8: Newfound Power

...
"Please do" (Morgan)
I smiled, and decided to create a new magic.
I looked up towards the ceiling that was covered in black bricks. This was the toughest material inside the entire dungeon since of course it was the boss' lair. There was going to be a huge fight here. Or at least there was supposed to be.
I continued to look up, then closed my eyes and lifted my hand and concentrated on a tiny ball of condensed energy. I was thinking of 'Final Flash'. A move from one of my favorite characters in a particular show I loved watching, but a lot denser and cleaner. I spent a few seconds thinking and trying to condense my magic into the attack.
I know that this explanation is a bit late, but Magic Power and Mana are basically the same thing. Magic Power determines how strong a particular attack is. A fireball using 10 magic power will be much weaker than one using 100 magic power, or mp. However, this also measured how much you could exert. Your magic power would be full, but once you start using magic it will get smaller, making you use less power for the attacks and causing more stress on the body. Since I have over 6000 magic power, I could shoot 2 3k powered blasts of whatever magic and pass out. Reaching zero makes you pass out, which is something I came close to upon experimenting in the dungeon.
At the same time, it seems to take approximately 5% of your entire mp and convert it to mp regeneration per 2 seconds. The status doesn't show it, but I tested it before when I drained myself of magic power to see how fast I regenerated. It should regenerate around 300 points every two seconds with my current power. Of course, though, I just estimated the loss of magic and the consumption by monitoring my body. It was a type of innate feeling. I can't really explain it. I just always knew just the amount of magic to use, how much I lost, etc.
Anyway, no more math. My head hurts. I am still concentrating on what magic to make, and I put the necessary amount of magic power into the attack to blow away the dungeon. It will probably cost around 6k points for this attack, but it will shake the heavens!
I opened my eyes, and was now ready with what I wanted.
New SkillEcho of Space: Create a mini black-hole to absorb space energy and release it in a blast so powerful it shakes the heavens. (10/10)
Just as the skill said, in my palm as it pointed towards the sky, a very very VERY dense mini black hole was created, however it didn't suck everything up. It released an aura that put a lot of pressure on Morgan as I saw her fighting it to stay awake. The gravity of the area was multiplied several times as even I felt like I was being pushed downwards a bit.
The pitch black sphere in my hand started to absorb the air around it, and it glowed somehow despite being nothing but darkness. I kept it pointed at my target (the entire dungeon) and kept adding more magic into it. I must have been at around 3000 before I realized that this thing was maxed out in mastery, so if I put in 6000 then I would probably kill Morgan and destroy a portion of the area completely.
So, I stopped putting energy in it and released it. It disappeared for a second, before reappearing as the small sphere it was but this time accompanied by a black light that shot upwards out of my palm. It's diameter covered the entire room as it shot up and the power pushed me down and through a lot of the floor, but I kept my ground. The power was immense as it destroyed the entire dungeon, reaching the sky.

-------------------------------
A few days have gone by since Lucas was thrown into the dungeon and killed. All the summoned 'heroes' were busy training as it was mid-day. Alyssa had still not gotten over Lucas' murder, but she knew that she had to keep going in hopes that she would be able to rescue him. With that determination she trained diligently, trying to become the strongest despite being a support.
The sun had risen and was in the middle of the sky. With no clouds, the sun shined brightly, spreading its heat across the city and its surroundings. Alyssa was in the Priest section of the training building. The building was made of a lot of glass to look out of not just so the citizens could see the heroes and maintain hope, but so the heroes could act on anything that they saw through the glass and raise their reputation. This of course consisted of crimes like robberies or brutalities.
Alyssa heard a bunch of screams from all around her while she was training. It took her a moment to register the screams from when they began, but she managed to understand that there must have been a commotion going on. She had been training and had been so focused that she didn't realize what was in the sky.
Far away, near where she knew was the Atriarc Dungeon was a giant pillar of absolute darkness. You could not see through it, and it seemed to be an elongated black hole of some sort from the eyes of those educated in the matter. There was panic all around her as her classmates could only guess that the demon lord had attacked, or that the god they deemed evil finally made her move. The priests who were accompanying the heroes to help them practice were dazzled at this spectacle. The pillar of darkness was large. Very large. It reached into the sky and out into space without stopping. If it was aimed at the sun, who knows if it could have even damaged it in some way. Maybe that force even moved the planet known as Illiana (named out of respect for Illia) out of its past gravitational orbit.
Everyone panicked out of fear until moments later the dark abyss piercing the heavens disappeared as quickly as it arrived. You could hear soldiers shouting to head towards the dungeon in alarm, and Alyssa held a weird feeling in her chest. She could only wonder in amazement, despite the unlikeliness: "Lucas...?"
------------------------
I stood there in amazement at what i had just accomplished. Everything above us was destroyed. It was consumed by that pitch black magic that shot into the sky. Something you would see a god like Zues do in a movie, but black and magnified many times. There was a huge hole above me and Morgan that was 30 meters in diameter. The dungeon was blown away for the most part, and I had a hunch that humans would be coming to investigate. After all, how the hell could you miss seeing that in the sky? For all I knew maybe even the demon lord saw that.
"huff... huff... huff... That.. was... amazing!" (Morgan)
"Hehehe, thank you. Thank you very much" I winked. She blushed a bit. I love that this world doesn't know about the references from my old world.
"Well... huff... Woo! Okay, I'm better now. That took a toll on my body. A pretty good exercise after all this time. What would you like to do Lorne? We can probably head towards the demon capital of Noxun, Tandspes. I am sure you would like to see other demons. Plus, dragons are sacred there for being so ancient and rare. I would probably have a very close status to the demon lord over there so we should be fine. You can also arrange a few things to take down the humans."

Morgan's suggestion was very well thought out. If we go there, we would have no trouble meeting the demon king and we could definitely come to standards and take over the humans. For a man with so much power, I wonder if he is any stronger than Morgan, and what he might look like...
"Hey Morgan" she turned to me and looked, abandoning her past action of admiring the scenery. "How strong is this demon lord, and what does he look like? Does he look similar to me? I'd like information on him and I also have been wondering if I looked like any other normal demon but have been very doubtful lately due to the fact I was transformed via the powers of a god."
She looked at me in the eyes, with a hint of concern on her face. However, that was wiped away when she realized what my personality is.
"The demon lord is a bit stronger than I am, and averages a power of 2000. One comes to power right before the heroes are summoned. The heroes then group up and grow strong, then take on the demon king all at once. He usually kills most of them before getting finished off, leaving only 4-6 of the original 15 or so to return victorious. Once he is killed, another takes his place through a power unknown to us. We know it is Monalee, but we do not know how she goes about it. When one sees an insignia appear on their chest a day after the demon king's death then they will be chosen, and that insignia gives them power." She stopped for a moment and then continued after catching her breath.
"The demons generally have a light gray skin tone and small horns on their heads while the demon king has a darker tone similar to yours, with horns half the size of yours. Also, none of the demons have those red markings on your body or a tail." A what?... "I originally assumed you were some god coming to mock me as I have never seen you before, but it's clear that I was wrong in that assumption." She finally finished her explanation.
'I have a what? A tail?' Were thoughts swirling around in my head as I vigorously thrashed around trying to find it, until I found it wrapped around my waist. I tried moving it, and overlord behold I was able to control it.
"Oh wow! This is awesome! I have a tail!!" It was pitch black, which contrasted well with my dark gray skin and I thought how easy it would be to kill someone at night with this quitely. They would never know what hit them. I basically switched from man to kid mode. I was jumping around and actually chasing my tail. Morgan was at the side laughing her ass off at me, but as I was too ecstatic that I didn't care. After a while I got over myself, and proud that I had a tail I turned to see her on the floor crying and laughing at the same time.
"Oi... enough of that. It's time for us to move." I was blushing as I just now realized how absurd I must have looked.
Morgan looked up at me and seeing me blushing she only laughed a bit harder before calming down and standing up all red in the face from the laugh-crying. There were still some giggles out of here as she stood there but I ignored her.
"I think it's time for us to-" I was cut off as I heard a thundering of what sounded like gallops coming from the east.
New PassiveHearing: Listen to the quietest sounds across vast distances. Be able to hone your hearing and hear only what you wish to hear. (10/10)
With the new passive, I was now able to adjust my hearing to a godly level and hear the voices of the humans on horses from a long distance away.
"We are close, onwards!" (?)
"Prepare for battle soldiers, do not let your guard down!" (?#2)
Morgan looked at me confused and seemed to not know why I was so quiet. I went back to normal and faced her.
"It looks like we have some company."
She looked at me a bit confused.
"What do you mean?" (Morgan)
"There are approximately 700 men on horses charging here. Human men. They most likely were told to come here by the church and investigate. I wouldn't be surprised if some scouts were also sent with them to see how they fare and report anything out of the ordinary to the church. Do you want to kill the scouts or leave them be?"
Morgan looked at me, now understanding that I must have felt their presence or something along those lines. While me estimating the amount of soldiers was a bit shocking to her as she heard and saw nothing, she replied.
"Let's let them go. It will spark some drama, and they will most likely underestimate us since they probably think we can't catch their scouts."
I thought about it for a moment. It was a good plan at first. Let the scouts return and report the slaughter they saw, and the church would be scared shitless. Those pricks would get cocky and send assassins thinking that we can't handle stealthy types. They would underestimate us. But... we could also kill all the scouts except one. We can capture him and make him watch as we ruthlessly kill all the other scouts in front of him and have him return while scarred for life. I decided to relay the info to Morgan.
"Actually... no. We'll capture one of the scouts and have him watch as his companions are killed without effort in front of his eyes. He will be filled with so much fear he will want to hide away forever, and then we send him back to the church in his state. He'll relay the information in such a gruesome way that it will notify the heads. They will probably try and bring as many people to guard the kingdom as possible, and when we attack we would only kill that many more. Of course, there is the small possibility they will flee but in that case I will just obliterate the kingdom off the face of the planet. 1 kingdom being lost would be our first step. Then we can take out the rest of the kingdoms and hopefully preserve their buildings for our own use."
Morgan looked at me in shock, not expecting such an elaborate answer. Of course I also had several more countermeasures in case the heads fled without the rest, but that is for another time if necessary. She seemed to love the idea as she didn't like the idea of letting so many humans go. However, killing them brutally in front of a bound messenger was to her liking, and mine as well. I would also rather not see too many leaving the scene. I'd like to only let the scout leave if possible.
I smiled at her, and she smiled back, it was intimate in a way and there were some feelings of understanding.
"Well then, it looks like the party is about to start. Are you ready?"
She understood as she knew they were very close to our location since she heard them loud and clear.
"I'm ready when you are" (Morgan)
Then, from the east came hundreds of men on horses who came within 20 meters before realizing we were demons and the lead who was most likely the commander screamed at the top of his raspy lungs.
"KILL THE DEMONS FOR JUSTICE!!"
I simply looked at Morgan, she smiled back, I did the same, and we both turned towards the man.
This was going to be fun indeed.

Thanks for reading everyone. I hope you all enjoyed this chapter. I planned to finish the chapter after the fight with the soldiers but since I started a bit late today I had to cut it short. ;P

Nay, be it considered a tool at all? What dost the weapon do when the steel hath no guide, that the master hath mingled far? Doth it Stay? Perhaps quiver at possibility, the loss of reason for existence? Or does it go forth into the unknown, guided by merely the wind and the edge?
