《Makemake》I

“Well, when will they come?”

“What do you mean?”

“The backup, Fleet 601; when are they going to come? Aren’t they going to take the capital soon? If they don’t come in time we’ll lose.”

“I’m not the Ghost of this mission, so I don’t know; you can ask the Captain though, he may know.”

“This planet will fall if we don’t win.”

“I know that.”

“You think it will?”

“I don’t know.”

The battlefield was barren. Wreckage was everywhere; the ruins of buildings that once stood there were littered throughout the flat. Smoke billowed from different areas in the field, coming from fires born from the battle. Ships glided overhead, going swiftly. They were flying at high speeds; speeds that not many people would be going at if they were not either fighting or in danger. Light dashed across the sky: it was light from the gunfire from the ships.

A soldier stood behind a piece of the wreckage. It was a stone wall, slowly crumbling apart. The soldier put down the eye shield of his helmet. He gripped his gun tightly; overhead, a ship sped by, breaking the sound barrier, hurting anyone’s ears who were nearby. Next to him stood another soldier, though unlike the first soldier who had blue battle armor, he had black armor.

“Why are they not here yet?”

“You do understand that I have no idea, yet you keep bothering me about this, right?”

An explosion was heard off in the distance, eventually shaking the ground under their feet. A terrestrial moon could be seen up above, looking down on the hellish battle ground. Tank-like vehicles threaded through the ruins, equipped with guns that opened fire on opposing soldiers; bullets flew through the air, ripping through bodies, sending them falling onto their backs as they dropped their weapons and yelped in pain.

“I think we should head back out there.”

“Why?”

“Because if we don’t we will probably regret it.”

The black suited soldier sat there in silence.

“You're right.”

He turned to the side and lept out from the protection of the ruined wall; rushing forward, he opened fire on an enemy soldier that came out at him, practically shredding its torso apart. The other soldier went on the other side, heading forward also—though he did not come in contact with any enemy soldiers. The two of them regrouped behind another piece of a building.

“I saw you shred that thing.”

“It’s what I had to do.”

“You did it well.”

The black armor soldier did not respond; he only held his head down. The other soldier looked over the wall, searching for enemies. In front of him now was a legion of adversaries, all coming towards them with malicious intent. Suddenly, overhead, a ship sailed above, sending volleys of fire down on the large group, desecrating all of them. The blue soldier turned to the other soldier; though the black soldier could not see the other’s face, he had a feeling that underneath that mask he was grinning from ear to ear.
